View Full Version : Expanding Cleric PrCs to accommodate Mythological Deities.

I like Greek mythology (don't we all?), and Deities and Demigods is one of my favorite books to rifle through looking for roleplaying ideas for my next cleric character. Unfortunately, using any of the gods in the book omits me from taking a lot of the fun prestige classes that I so enjoy experimenting with, primarily because a good portion of them require you to worship specific deities. As such, I want to compile a list of deity-specific prestige classes that I think would go swimmingly with Greek, Norse, or Egyptian gods. These are the ideas I can come up with off the top of my head:

Ordained Champion: Athena, Nike

Stormlord: Zeus and Thor

Radiant Servant: Apollo

Ruby Knight Vindicator: Hades, Hecate, Hermes perhaps (he did escort the spirits of the dead to the styx, and it makes sense that a RKV could be chaotic if you read the description)

Create a divine version of Sand Shaper devoted to Set, possibly? He was the god of the desert and storms.

What, Ares doesn't get Ordained Champions?

Good idea. I see it working particularly well with clerics if mars (who seems more lawful neutral)

Martyred Champion of Ilmater: possibly Prometheus or Osiris.
Darkwater Knight: pick your ocean-god.
Prophet of Erathaol: Apollo or Odin
Divine Prankster: Pan or Loki
Beloved of Valarian: Artemis, possibly Freya
Memory Smith (and most other Moradin-based PrCs): Hephaestos
Celebrant of Sharess: Aphrodite

I'd like to contribute (there are a couple things I'd quibble about and I know some of the more obscure deities that could be fun) but I'm fairly sure this counts as discussing real-world religion and is thus verboten. Once I have some assurance that it isn't, I'll post.

What real-world religion? We're discussing adapting prestige classes to the alternate deity set in chapter four of Deities and Demigods! :smalltongue:

I'd say we're fine, as the Olympian pantheon exists in official WotC 3.5 material and thus falls under the topic of the subforum. I'm fairly new here, though, so I may be wrong.

He mentioned the book Deities and Demigods, which is an official D&D sourcebook that adapts mythological deities for use in games. Talking exclusively about the versions in that book is (probably) no more against the rules than talking about Marvel superheroes.

EDIT: An abundance of Piscean ninjas!:smalleek:

Which would be fine if Mars and Promethius were in one of the pantheons and no one had mentioned real-life attributes of the gods therein.

Sheriff: Please remember that real world religion is entirely prohibited here. Keep it to clearly fictional references.
