~ Sanctuary of Miylanarith ~
Somewhere deep in the woods there is a hidden clearing. The open space is fringed by ancient weeping willows and at the north end there is a tranquil pond. The pond is fed by a small rivulet and the largest of the willows bends over it in a protecting embrace. Soft moss and grass cover the ground, dotted with colourful flowers. The flowers, which are usually rare in the outside world are numerous and speak of vigour. To the south there is a pentagonal area marked off by moss-covered stones. In the clearing it is never really dark, may it be day or night. Small lights hover in the air and bath everything in soft and warm colours. The clearing is hallowed to Miylanarith.
Miylanarith, the Lady of the Woods
Intermediate Goddess (Elven Pantheon)
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Portfolio: Nature and Renewal
Primary Domains: Animal, Plant, Good, Healing, Protection
Secondary Domains: Air, Earth, Water, Sun, Chaos
Forbidden Domains: Death, Destruction, Fire, Evil, War
There are only three ways to enter this place!
The first opens up to those who are truely devoted to the cause of and acknowleged by the Goddess. If you set out to find the clearing on your own, you will inevitably pass it without noticing its vincinity. The knowledge of this ways is kept secret to all those not dedicated to Her ideals. It is nearly impossible to pretend this devotion, for the Lady looks directly into the heart of those who come.
The second is to be led by a Devoted. People who are granted this honour cannot remember how they got there, but they can feel the atmosphere that speeds up processes of healing, mental as bodily. They can bath in an air of peace and quiet. And if they have the intention, they can communicate to the Goddess in silent prayer by the shore of the pond.
The third way to enter this place is a token of Miylanarith' goodwill. Anyone close to Her clearing, who is in dire need of shelter and protection, might stumble through the undergrowth and reach the Sanctuary unintentionally. The way will be blocked to those who persue him, so he can rest. He will feel tired and go down to sleep beneath one of the trees. When he awakens, fully recovered, he will find himself near the border of the forest, without memory of where he slept and how much time has passed.
It is unknown which powers are granted to Miylanarith' followers and their abilities often depend on their personal skills (the Devoted come from very different backgrounds), but all are known to be outstanding healers with close affinity to all living things. They carry their faith humbly and are not known to evangelise their belief.
NPCs
Tali is a small fey, about as tall as an outstretched human palm. She looks like a human woman, dressed in living vines, that darts around the clearing on two sets of ribbed, translucent wings. She is always happy and talks to visitors about the goodness of life. Of the three constant residents, she is the one most often not present, as she serves as a devine messenger.
Lytana Silverlight is a female elf of exceptional beauty. She's got waist-long auburn hair that is tied to a tail by a mithril brooch. She wears a long, cream-coloured gown that is embroidered on the hem and on the cuffs of her sleeves with leaf and vine patterns in different shades of green. A mithril belt around here waist enhances her beauty further. A fine cut emerald dangles on her forehead from a silvery chain. She is bare footed. She is the Keeper of the Pond and thus in charge of the Sanctuary. She is friendly and believes that everyone deserves a second chance.
Duu'nog is a male sturdy oak-treant who is normally rooted down beside the pentagonal area. Usually he is of sour mood, but he is a reliable guard. When he is grumbly towards others it is never personal, when he is angry, it is. Those who crossed him the wrong way, usually regret the day they insulted the Lady of the Woods.
There are some more treants that serve Miylanarith, but they are seldom encountered in the clearing, as they are scattered across the forest to keep an eye on the things that happen elsewhere.
