So I've got a Gestalt coming up, and as a partly mental partly ""I'll probably give it to the DM to use", I'd like to know just how many animal friends I can be walking around with as:
10th level Gestalt
SRD+Complete for classes
95,000gp

I do not care about how strong each individual creature is, just that I get as many as possible.
While Beast Heart Adept is not on the table (darn book restriction), Leadership, however, is.

95,000 gp = 4,750,000 chickens.

Using the Handle Animal skill, as many as you want. There's no limit to the number of mundane animals you can train beyond the logistics of obtaining and caring for them all.

As class features? Off the top of my head:

Animal companion
Familiar
Psicrystal
Cohort
Special mount
Spirit guide (Spirit Shaman--not sure if it counts since it's a figment of your imagination)
Divine companion (Sorcerer variant, Complete Champion)
Elemental companion (Druid variant, Complete Mage)
Skeletal minion (Necromancer variant, SRD (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/classes/specialistWizardVariants.htm#skeletalMinion))
Fiendish servant (Blackguard 5)
Second animal companion (Beastmaster 4)

Technically Beastmaster can allow you 4 Animal Companions, but it's inadvisable because the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th literally only use your beastmaster levels to determine stuff like bonus HD. You BM levels minus 3, 6, and 9 respectively. Plus that's 10 levels filled with useless junk like daily uses of Speak With Animal. Still very good for 1 level to get an AC if you go into a PrC that advances it.

At ECL 10, Beastmaster can't get you more than two animal companions.

Get a bunch of special cohorts, using the rules in the DMG for cohorts rather than Leadership. It's noted that there's no limit to the amount of cohorts you can have, although they'll leech exp, iirc.

Commoner 10, Chicken-Infested. Infinite chickens. Spend your 95K gp on corn to feed them. We'll assume it costs the same as flour, so you can get 4,750,000 pounds of corn.

Now that that's over with, we can get on to the more serious answers.

A self-resetting trap of create food and water would be a way cheaper solution to feed infinite chickens at only 3.500 gp (if I made the calculations correctly).
