Simple enough question. When a creature with a Supernatural Aura of let's say 100 feet is out of sight and range from the detect evil spell, does the aura show up as evil, or no?

It's not quite a spell, but Aura's are 'magic-esque' so, would it detect as evil thus showing the caster the outline of the range of the aura, or no?

The limitation is not in the aura but in the spell. Detect Evil is an emanation (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic#TOC-Aiming-a-Spell), meaning it requires line of effect and doesn't ping anything with total cover relative to your position.

If I'm not mistaken, Auras are emanations as well. All the ones I can think of are. So the same rule applies.

Also there is a simple Q&A thread sticked at the top of this forum, so you don't have to make 2 threads asking the same question within an hour. In fact you would never have to do that.

Actually, to be quite honest with you. I had two different scenarios in mind (both of which I encountered last night) which is why I asked the two different questions - not realizing that they were actually the same question.

And the Q/A I apparently have completely overlooked for the better part of a year. I've always just posted questions to this forum here... Perception roll, critical fail...
