Has any one ever thought of building a venom psychoactive skin? What magical effects would this skin have?

To mimick Venom's abilities? Depending on which run of comics you're using as a source, stuff like regeneration, str, dex, and con increases, a web-slinging mechanic(possibly keyed off of the Rod of Ropes), a bite attack, an Ego score that tries to make you evil, and a vulnerability to sonic damage.

In other words, it would be a very very very pricey item.

I would also say spider climb and the Web spell.

See, this is complicated for a very simple reason: Your average psychoactive skin (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/items/universalItems.htm#psychoactiveSkins) gives you a neat power and a weird appearance. The Venom symbiote gives you an arsenal of abilities based on the fact that its original host was bitten by a radioactive spider, and it slowly takes over your sanity.

That said, let's begin. Let's start with a Skin of the Spider (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/items/universalItems.htm#skinoftheSpider), because duh. Climb Bonus, Body Equilibrium, and 3/day Entangling Ectoplasm. Easy yes.

Next, it would be an intelligent item (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/intelligentItems.htm). This makes sense; the Venom symbiote was aware, was able to (empathetically at first, then through more advanced means later on) influence its wearer, and it possessed some special powers. It would have a CE alignment, which it would bring to bear against its wearer.

This guy's going to have a monster ego score, so let's kick it straight up to the sixth entry on the table - Wis and Cha at 17, Int at 10, speech and telepathy, three lesser powers and one greater, 120 foot darkvision and hearing. For powers, let's see. Obviously, one of the lesser powers should be Cure Moderate Wounds, since it helps heal its wearer. The other two don't seem to fit the options listed, but I suppose you could mix things up. Greater power... A lot of them don't seem very venom-like. I would have gone with something that gives bonuses to Hide or certain Str or Dex checks, or maybe Invisibility for camouflage, or something like that. But whatever, it's workable.

I would also make it a Cursed Item, with two very specific functions: Addictive: When the PC wishes to remove the item, he must make an opposed Ego Check against the item. If he fails, he cannot try again for at least one hour. If he succeeds, he may remove the item. Each morning, the PC must make a Will save (DC the item's Ego Score) or feel compelled to activate the skin. If he succeeds, he does not need to make the save again until the next day. Each day that passes without putting the item on increases the save DC by 1. Sonic Vulnerability: While the skin is active, the wearer takes an additional 50% of all sonic damage. Additionally, when he takes sonic damage, the wearer must make a Fort save or be Stunned for 1 round.
How's that?
