Stonehaven is a frontier mining town located along the road over a pass in the Dark Spire Mountains and winter has been brutal this year. The promise of spring is just around the corner but currently thick snow still blankets the ground and the townsfolk are running low on supplies leading them to rely on wagons of provisions from towns down in the forested flatlands. Early last week a wagon and four guards left town on a supply run and was due to return back to town yesterday but there has been no sign. At dawn break this morning two young men from town set out to find what became of the wagon but so far they too have not been seen or heard from. As rumors begin to spread through the townsfolk the mayor, a middle aged man named Alexander Ventannis begins to form a group of more skilled and combat-worthy people to investigate. The five of you have formed an adventuring party for just this task, gathering your gear and supplies and bracing yourself against the cold you set out down the road from town around mid-day.

Trull Folsarr (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=40370)

Short for a Half-orc, at only 5'11" Trull was still taller than most of the folk in this town. The tattoo's adorning the green tinged skin of his face, marking his tribe for the world to see, gave him a savage look, while his manner of dress and the way his carried himself spoke of the discipline he'd gained while a soldier years ago. His thick pants blocking the worst of the wind from his legs were clean and while not new, were neatly mended with needle and thread in the places where they'd worn through or started to fray. Along each thigh little loops had been sewn, into which bolts for the crossbow attached to his pack, had been tucked securely through. A thin sheepskin jacket was worn open at the front over a coarsely threaded tunic dyed a dark red.

He'd been retired from the army for the past 6 years. He had brought a plot of land on the edge of Stonehaven and had built himself a small cabin with the money granted for his service in the army. He spent his days felling trees and selling the logs to the steelworks in town, supplementing the coal used in their forges.

When the mayor's man had came knocking, asking for his help to find the missing wagon he'd quickly agreed, packing all his necessitates into his old army pack and pulling his old crossbow from the chest at the end of his bed. He'd picked up his axe leaning next to the door and followed the man back toward town, where he'd been introduced briefly to the rest of the little group.

He'd taken to walking near the back of the group on the way out of town and had now stopped momentarily, his axe resting on his shoulder as he surveyed the skyline for possible storms "Hope the weather holds," he comments softly to himself before increasing to catch up with the others.

The High Walk - Day One

The midday sun begins to burn through the gray clouds that hang low in the winter sky and warm beams occasionally spare you from the biting wind that howls along the High Walk, the old road that makes the climb up and over the Dark Spire Mountains. Yesterday a small snow flurry had passed through the area and much of the landscape was still blanketed in a layer of soft, fine powder. Two sets of foot prints follow along the snow-buried trail ahead of you and your own boots making soft crunching noises as you make each step in the roughly six inches of snow. Occasionally in the woods to either side of the road the warmth of the sun causes snow-laden tree branches to finally give up on the large pillows of powder they so delicately hold and you can hear the soft tufts as they fall through the surrounding limbs to the forest floor. You're making great time thus far depsite the poor condition of the road and the pair of fresh tracks continues to stretch out before you leading the way.

Dalwyn

When Dalwyn had learned that Mayor Ventannis was putting together a party to go look for the missing supply wagon, he had immediately offered his services. He knew the immediate area as well as anyone and in this weather the paths could be treacherous. He felt like he actually would have been better off scouting on his own, but he knew realistically if that if the supplies had been waylaid by someone - or something - for evil reasons, then a group who could hold their own in a fight would be helpful.

And so now here he was along the High Walk, the familiar landmarks covered in a blanket of snow. Still, the traveling was easy so far, and the footprints they were following were clear enough. Dalwyn had his bow out, striding comfortably over the terrain, keeping his attention split between the tracks they were following and the surrounding landscape. Wouldn't do for us to be waylaid as well.

Trevan (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=39704)

Mayor Ventannis had come to him that morning asking for his aid. Having agreed to join the search party for the wagon, mostly to break the daily monotony and get first dips on and shipments of walnuts that may be onboard, he had briefly met the other members of the group. Overall he was unimpressed, none of them even carried a proper sword.

They were on the road now and no one seemed in the talking mood. Despite this Trevan walked next to the half elf named Dalwyn hoping to stir up some conversation. "What do you recon is holding up the wagon? Have you been down this road before? Trevan asks as he scans the surrounding area.

Elzar "The Chef" Nasstir (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=40621)

Elzar was still waiting for someone to recognize him. He hated when people didn't. It made him doubt himself as not being the greatest cook around...But then again, he didn't know any of his companions. Time to get me some new customers.
"So, any of you fancy a nice free meal that'll warm your spirit and make you follow me forever asking for more? Ha ha...", he said, in a friendly, smiling, voice.

He observed and listened attentively for something out of the ordinary, such as cooking ingredients or medicinal herbs, while following the tracks. He also tried to remember if this snowy area meant something to him.

Chromix (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=39722)

Though no one else may have recognized him right away, the Mayor certaintly did. As such, it only made sense that he should be the natural leader of the party and called the shots (or so thought the child).

Nevertheless, trudging through snow was no fun. Especially given that he could barely keep ahead enough of the adults to lead the way. Times like this, he wished he was born of another race or at least had his usual mount with him. To add insult to injury, he was bored. When he first stole away from the valley, he figured at least he would be part of an amazing adventure filled with killing dragons and rescuing dames in distress as was read to him before bedtime when he was but a wee lad. This was definitely not even close.

As the others were scanning the environment for dangers and clues, Chromix decided to look around as well for something to keep himself preoccupied. And then it hit him or rather, something to hit someone else with in the great pursuit of mirth.

Reaching down, the lad grabbed a handful of snow and packed it tight into a sphere. Scanning "his followers," Chromix decided on the biggest target he could find. It has been awhile since he had been in a snowball fight, no reason to start this one with a difficult shot.

With a gleeful smile on his face, Chromix throws the snowball at the Half-Orc. As soon as the snowball left his hands, Chromix dashes to hide in the shadow of the Human Fighter.

The High Walk - Day One

As Elzar looks out over the snow-covered landscape of the mountain road nothing of any particular interest catches his attention. Any plants that would normally be of either culinary or medicinal value he knows to be currently in hibernation from the long cold winter. As the group of strangers plods along at their steady pace, the halfling Chromix decides to stir things up a bit and lobs a ball of packed snow towards the half-orc Trull before quickly dashing behind Trevan for cover. Dalwyn is aware that the group is now roughly five miles outside of the town of Stonehaven and in the distance ahead everyone can see that the road cruves sharply to the north before disappearing into the trees.

Trull Folsarr (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=40370)

It was good the snow wasn't as deep as he'd feared. Trull had worried as they set out that they'd end up wading through waist high drifts, this light cover only came to the bottom of his shins and his old boots were doing their job keeping the wet from his feet. He was focused on the prints ahead of him, noticing the older set mixed under the fresh ones of his companions.

He was doing his best to step into the prints left by one of the others remembering vaguely being told once that its makes for easier travel in the snow, when something thudded into his shoulder. Popping his head up, he immediately drops into a guard position, his axe held ready in front of him as his years of training kicked in. Noticing then the snow melting on his face, he relaxed with a sigh, realizing he was the butt of some joke again. Reaching up he slowly wiped the snow from his face and shoulder looking none too impressed.

"We got a job needs doing. Folk gonna starve most likely, we don't find what's happening to the wagons. Aint got time to mess around," he says to the group not knowing who threw the snow.

Dalwyn (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=24122)

In response to Trevan's question, Dalwyn nods, "Yes, I have traveled this way before, although never in the dead of winter. It can be dangerous for those unfamiliar with it, which is why my first thought was that the wagons had gotten stuck or lost in the snow." Catching a glimpse of movement off to the left, he quickly turns and points his bow, but it turns out only to be a lone fox, slinking through the trees, thin and hungry from the long winter. Dalwyn turns his attention back to Trevan. "But now, with the most recent disappearance of the men sent out by the town, I think it might be more complicated than that. At least their tracks are clear enough so far.."

Before Dalwyn can say any more, he is interrupted by a commotion behind him, quickly followed by the little halfling dashing up with a huge grin on his face. Frowning, he thinks, Now everyone and everything will know we are coming. But he holds his tongue for now.

Heh, I can't figure out whether to do past tense or present tense.

"I have to agree with our large friend here. No time for games, we need to find that shipment. says Trevan as he winks and subtly points at Chromix so Trull can see the perpetrator.
With a grumble in his stomach he turns to Elzar "I certainly wouldn't turn down a good meal but if I am not mistaken a lack of food is the reason we are out here..., perhaps once we find the wagon you could throw something together for us." he says with a smile.

Once Dalwyn settles down from his fox startle Trevan turns to him and says "I'm sure your first instinct is correct. They probably ran into some trouble with the weather and the 2 sent before us are probably helping them back. I wouldn't be surprised if we ran into them just around that corner. though based on his tone anyone listening would know that he hardly believed that himself.

At first you cant make it out with the the various chit chat going on between party members but just as you begin to enter the bend in the road you hear it again. This time the sound is unmistakable, the whinnying of a horse in the distance.

Horses? Though he couldn't hear anything yet himself, Trull trusted Elzars ears, they had tended to use elven scouts in the army and their ears had never let them down.

The High Walk - Day One

As the group begins to round the curve of the road the path gently slopes upwards, making a small hill, before continuing the steady decent that they'd been making since leaving town. Once they reach the crest of the hill the fate of the wagon is instantly clear to everyone: Two humanoid figures that are bundled in thick clothing to stave off the cold are attempting to lead a resistance horse off the path and towards the woods to the north. Two orcs are standing guard nearby, though one of them seems more content to watch as the horse situation unfolds to his amusement. The other, a female, stares off into the distance down the road away from you, scanning the horizon in that direction. They don't appear to have spotted you yet.

The snow-covered ground is splattered red in several places and more than half dozen bodies lay about the area. Four of them bear the leather armor and colors of the Stonehaven Militia while the other two humans are dressed in common clothing and the final pair appear to be orcs. The wagon full of supplies sits directly in the middle of the path and a thick tarp still covers the crates and barrels within. The now empty reins and harness lay draped over the drivers seat, the frightened horse seems to have been the first priority to deal with.

Chromix

Psh, these adults are so not amusing at all. They all need to relax. Maybe they are just hungry and will be in more careful moods.

With that thought in mind, Chromix dashes out towards the men in front (though not before sticking out his tongue at the Half-Orc). As impulsive as he was, his instructors did hard wire into him some basic precautions. With a wave of his hands in the air, Chromix was ready to welcome his new subjects (or so he thought):

"Hullo there! I am Chromix, the Baronet of Stonehaven. Welcome to my lands!"

Chromix casts Blade Ward on himself as a cantrip.

Once the group by the wagon is spotted, Dalwyn creeps a bit further into the trees, finding a good place where he can stay out of sight but still have clear shot.

So much for the element of surprise he thought as he notched an arrow and aimed towards the scene. Hopefully his other companions had a better sense of strategy.

What are bandits doing this close to town? Trull couldn't work it out, they needed to take cover quickly before they were seen and work out some form of ambush. He should strap on his shield too and hold them off away from the others.
He was planning all this, going through the lists in his head of things he should be doing when the halfling walked forward and called out to them. No time for plans now. Adjusting his grip on the axe he rushed forward, pushing Chromix behind him.

The High Walk - Day One

Eager to send warm welcome to what he percieved as 'new subjects' the halfling Chromix rushes out in front of the group but not before sticking his tongue out at Trull. The half-orc doesn't quite realize what he'd planned to do but is still able to close the gap between them a few steps before the halfling calls out towards the figures around the wagon. As soon as Chromix calls out, the guard furthest from the group snaps her head around to see where the noise had come from. The closer guard, distracted by the two people wrangling the horse, takes a split second longer to react. The female orc hefts a large greataxe while the male is armed with a longsword, both the human and the orc near the horse have maces dangling from their belts. The female orc yells something that gets the attention of the final two people, but at this distance the adventurers couldnt hear what it was.

Encounter One : Crimson Snow

"Don't just stand there! Deal with them!" The human who had been leading the horse yells out to the orc guards who begin to move towards the party. The third orc draw his mace and leaves the man to hold the horse's reins and now all three orcs have weapons drawn and their intent is quite clear. Drawing his bow all the way back Trevan fires the first arrow, which whizzes past Trull who quickly rushes forward to put himself between the halfling and danger. The arrow unfortunetly misses it's intended target and lands in the snow near the wagon. A second arrow soon whizes through the air as Dalwyn unleashes from his hiding place in the forest north of the road. The arrow sticks into the upper chest of the closest orc and the creature gasps in suprise looking down at the shaft and fletching. "There's more of them in the trees!" The human calls out, unable to point while still fighting with the horse, but trying to draw attention to the ranger none-the-less. Finally, near the back of the group, Elzar has drawn, loaded, and cocked his crossbow and levels it at the nearest orc. A twang of the mechanism sends a single bolt streaking across the gap between the two groups and it sinks into the shoulder of the orc swordsman. Chromix, quite displeased at the recent turn of events, particularly the shoving, leaves the road and heads toward the nearest cluster of trees to the south.

As much as Chromix was not fond of the Half-Orc, seeing the brute getting struck by an ax did not sit well with the Halfling. As much as he was looking forward to taking a nap, Chromix decided that maybe he should help cool down the heated confrontation that was taking place in the distance.

Maybe they are angry because they didn't get to join in on the snow ball fight. Well that's no problem!

Scooping down to pack some snow in his hands, Chromix concentrates on the middle of the forming orb. Light wisps of dark energy flowed from the Halfling's fingertips into the growing white puff before him. Laces of black soon striped the ball until alternating patterns of black and white hexagons formed.

In no time, the ball had grown to the size of the Halfling's head. Within just a couple of seconds, it was complete.

Upon hearing Elzar's comment concerning the culinary arts, Chromix was quickly reminded of the first delicious concoction that his Arcane instructor and taught him to make as a reward for mastering his early lessons so quickly. Not letting the lack of the usual ingredients deter him, the Halfling decided to make do with what he had at his new hiding spot.

"A handful of snow with some pebbles and leaves. Swirl, swirl, swirl with the yummy treat inside!"

As Chromix mixed his handful of disgusting ingredients centered around the frozen ball of wild animal feces he picked up underneath the tree, tendrils of darkness poured from his fingertips into the concoction. Being raised with proper etiquette, Chromix knew that sharing was caring and new guests should always be given the first taste.

"Stop fighting please and have some yummy dessert instead!" shouted Chromix as he tossed the inedible confection towards the Orc that had attacked Trull so viciously.

"Much better" thought Trevan as his Rapier plunged into the orc. His blow was quickly followed by a brutal smash from the now enraged Trull, leaving the orc a bloody mess in the snow.

Trull was already moving towards the woods and the final orc as Trevan heard the whinny of a horse and the crunching of snow behind him. Turning around he saw the Human moving into the trees while pointing menacingly at Trull.

The snow from his tumble fell from his body as he dashed towards the Human. "Still time to cut him off" he thought.

"I've got this one, hes got some explaining to do!" he yells to his companions.
Hopefully Trevan could incapacitate the human for questioning before the enraged half orc buried that axe in his head.

Red stains dot the snow all around and the foot prints in the area are erratic. Along the way, the faint shouts of battle drifted to strike a tune upon his tympanic membranes. Ever so easily distracted and eager to showcase the lessons taught to him, Chromix decided to end the morning with one more fond memory.

"Stumble and mumble, crumble, crumble, do a little dance if you are able. Mud and twigs, leaves and powder, sword and shield are the the only roads to power" as Chromix sang the recipe, he recalled the mid-day tea time where he would sit with his Mom while sipping on his fire juice and biting into the dessert he was about to finish making.

His small dagger lands nearby, sinking into the soft white powder of a snow drift. No longer focused on dealing with the man before he escapes, both Trull and Trevan now notice the large group of footprints in the snow coming from the north where he was heading. This is likely the path the orcs and their leader came from when they ambushed the wagon as it passed.

It takes a few moments, a lot of convincing, and having to chase the animal for another thirty feet or so, but eventually Elzar manages to calm it and lead it back to the wagon. The wagon is simple enough and he sets to attaching the horse back into place so that it can reliably tow the wagon back to town with them, but party way through he finds himself beset by a hungry halfling. The horse eyes the small creature nervously but continues to allow itself to be hooked into place. Meanwhile, Trull begins to bind one of their two captives with a length of hempen rope and a makeshift gag to prevent spellcasting. A few quick loops and some solid knots and soon the man is bound with his hands in front of him and looped to ropes that encircle his ankles. He not only wont be going anywhere quickly anytime soon, he'd be lucky to make it anywhere at all in the snow. While tying the man up, the half-orc notices the man is wearing a necklace with an iron symbol in the shape of circle that bears an upright skeletal hand holding a pair of weighing scales.

Dalwyn begins the tedious task of searching through the bodies of the fallen, starting with the orcs before checking over the guardsmen and the boys from town. Each of the orcs is wearing hide armor and wrapped in thick winter clothes to stave off the cold. In addition to the weapons employed in combat each of them also has a dagger tucked away, either in their belt or slipped into their boot, and the two that were previously felled were both carrying shortswords. Between the five corpses a total of fifty silver pieces is recovered. The orcs wear no particular insignia or markings that would tie them to a specific clan or group. The four guards that had been traveling with the wagon are dressed in well-oiled leather armor and each carried a longsword. Two of them had round steel shields and a third carried a light crossbow and twenty bolts.

The High Walk - Day One

Judging on the direction of the disturbed snow and the number of tracks walking abreast, Trevan is able to determine that the five orcs and their leader had all come from the north but none of them had yet made the return trip. The path to the north is too rough and too narrow, not to mention covered in deeper snow, for the wagon to have followed, leading him to believe that the plan was to take the horse and have the orcs hand carry what supplies they could. Based on amount of provisions in the wagon though it would have likely taken multiple trips, especially since two of the orcs were felled taking their prize.

Trull recognizes the symbol of Kelemvor and know's he is the god of the dead, but doesn't recall any specifics about the church or it's followers.

Elzar finishes up with hooking the horse to the wagon and lays the reins across the drivers seat, ready for use. He then sets to tying up the orc he'd stablized and soon has its hands and feet sturdily bound, but leaving enough room the creature could be marched if needed. He works to clean up the worst of the orc's wounds and clears away a large portion of the blood before bandaging the gashes, the creature however is still out cold and looks like it may be for some time.

Trevan unfastens one corner of the tarp on the back of the wagon and begins to look through the provisions. Several crates of salted meat make the majority of the boxes but there are small boxes and baskets full of potatoes, carrots, radishes and a few other vegetables. He is just about to give up when he uncovers a bundle of pecans and walnuts packed into class jars and wrapped in cloth.

The High Walk / Stonehaven - Day One

Without too much trouble you begin to clean up the gruesome scene and drag the orc bodies off into woods. The four human guards are laid out side-by-side in a respectful manner but you simple don’t have room for them in the cart anymore. The tarp is stretched and fastened back into place atop the supplies and on top of that you have lined up the unconscious forms of the orc and his leader plus the dead bodies of the two young men from town. Once you are ready to set out for town you spur the horse along and it begins to pull the laden cart with ease even though the snow. Two people can fit abreast in the driver’s seat but the other three adventurers will have to walk alongside, so you may choose to take turns giving your feet a rest. You keep your eyes and ears peeled for more signs of trouble but none show their face, making the trip back to town rather uneventful.

As the day begins to wind down finally you see the wooden walls of Stonehaven rising in the distance and know that a warm meal and shelter from the cold shall soon be yours. The guards notice your approach and before you've even made it to the gates a small crowd has begun to form and tags along as you pull into the town square. Their excitement quickly takes a grim turn as they take notice of the two corpses laid of the townsmen laid across the back of the wagon and hushed whispers about what may have happened soon fill the crowd.

Mayor Ventannis meets you and summons four of the town's guardsmen to escort your prisoners to the holding cells beneath the barracks. Lysander's face wears an expression of sullen rage and he glares at you until he's out of sight. His orc companion resists at first, but the arrival of more guards soon placates him into moving along. A group of townsfolk remove the two corpses and take them to the small temple in town grieving family members in tow. Then work begins on unloading the wagon and all of the provisions. The mayor regrets he has little to offer you in terms of a monetary reward, the town had after been scraping together what little it had to buy supplies, but he does invite you to his manor for a warm meal and to discuss things.

You spend the evening selling the extra equipment you lifted from the orcs or buying any additional supplies. The owner of the trading post even agrees to let you use the wagon on your journey tomorrow but continuously stresses that you take care of his horse. Once all your errands have been completed you reconvene at the mayor's residence and discuss things over a warm meal of roasted mutton, potatoes, and carrots. Attempts to interrogate the prisoners thus far have failed to turn up anything of value and upon hearing that you plan to revisit the area he continuously showers you in thanks on behalf of the town. If more members of the orc band lay in wait in the wilderness the town might not have the men to provide adequate protection for further caravans of supplies. The rest of the night passes pretty uneventfully, you may wish to visit the tavern or return to your homes, but regardless the group plans to set out in the early morning.

The Wilderness - Day Two

After a quick breakfast the following morning the group readies the wagon and prepares to depart from town. The skies are slightly overcast but the sun still manages to burn through the gray layers every so often and beams down upon the countryside. With the wagon to ride in, as well as carry the bulk of your gear, you're able to make much better time than the previous day and before midday have returned to the scene of the battle. The bodies of both the town guardsmen and the orcs are still as you left them and no new signs of tracks are visible along the road or along the path to the north.

Now that the wagon is unladen with boxes and crates you decide to brave the narrow path and while one of you drives the others go on foot alongside it. There are a few rough spots where the horse has a bit of trouble and you have to try several times, but the going isn't terribly slow. The path leads through the wilderness for just over three miles until it comes to a clearing at the base of a large and rocky hill. The clearing is roughly one hundred and fifty feet wide and one hundred feet from the woods to the rocky embankments of the hill. The tracks lead across the clearing and towards the entrance of a shallow cave. You tie the horse and wagon safely off the trail and disconnect the two. Theres not much for space to hide the wagon so you have to resort to simply leaving it beside the trail but you do tie the horse up a bit out of the way. Aside from the occasional gust of wind that snakes its way through the hills and causes the trees around you to swap slightly back and forth the cleaning ahead stands completely clear. No motion can be seen in the yawning maw of the cave mouth, only the dark gloom that lurks between the slate gray rocks on either side of the tunnel.

While the dinner from the night before was fantastic and the breakfast was filling, Chromix was in a mood to snack. As the group tied up the horse and wagon, the Halfling child decided that rather than gaze at a boring old tunnel, it would be much more amusing to play with the horse and go hunt for berries.

With dexterious movements and acute coordination, the Halfling vaulted onto the horse and untied it from the tree.

"I shall call you Alucardo! Go Alucardo go!" shouted the Halfling as he attempted to urge the horse towards the woods in search of fruits and berries.

When the halfling suddenly break off from his companions and comes back to disturb the horse happily chomping on some oats the creature eyes the small figure nervously. The horse wanted absolutely nothing to do with the shouting halfling and as soon as he tried to hop on it the creature shook him off and went back to munching. As the horse deftly dodged Chromix's vault attempt, the ensuing stumble stunned the child. Chromix's instinctive respose was to cry or return an equally painful experience to the horse that perpetrated this vile crime against him.

Closing his eyes while fuming and drawing incoherent symbols in the air, Chromix was getting ready to release one of his more violent tantrums to date on the journey. A blanket of shadows radiated from the Halfling's torso and started to take serpentine form.

"Lord of Darkness and King of the Damned, please open the gates of death. For those around me who have lost their ways, show them their destiny so that we may embrace them as one of the fallen..."

However, before Chromix could finish unleashing the spell, Trull's words penetrated his concentration.

Looking up at the tall Half Orc, the Halfling tyke was momentarily at a loss between wanting to lash out or cry. That moment of indecision was resolved as Trull extended his hand in aid.

"Waaaaaahhh, why is the horsie so mean? I miss my friends and my snacks and my naps and..." dribbled on Chromix as he grabbed and held onto Trull. Tears streamed down the usually cheery complexion of Chromix as he sobbed into the Half Orc's arms and blew his nose on a scrap of Trull's cloak.

The Cave Entrance - Day 2

The group rounds the corner and begins to creep into the darkened cave, the snow beneath their boots giving way to the sandy dirt and gravel of the cavern. The walls of the cavern are roughly hewn stone and while the cave may have been natural at some point it appears to have been carved by hand at points that were too narrow or too low for passing comfortably. The passage stretches out ahead in a mostly straight manner for twenty or so feet before turning slowly to the west and running out of sight. If the group searches for any traps along the way they find none, only the continued tracks leading from outside and disappearing around the turn.

As you round the turn, those of you with the vision to see in the dark can see that the tunnel continues for another thirty feet or so before it intersects with a straight stone wall. The wall is made of large stone block each about a foot tall and two feet long and after several feet a noticeable hole has been opened, stone blocks set on either side. While the cavern continues on winding around to the west, not only does it begin to become too small to walk upright but no boot tracks appear to head that direction.

While the other walls are carved out of the stone of the hill itself the spot where he was currently standing must have been shored up with the block wall due to intersecting the naturally forming crevice in the rock. The walls and floor are quite smooth, dug by someone or something that really knew its craft in stonework, and about thirty feet to the west stand a pair of large metal doors. The hallway to the east extends out into the darkness beyond even the half-orcs vision. As the door opens light washes over those of you standing in the hallway and Trevan can begin to see his surroundings for the first time. The light flickers from several torches that are placed in mounts on the wall and the first thing you notice is that boxes and crates are stacked everywhere.

As you peer around the corner to the north you find the source of the voices that have been talking: a human ruffian and a burly orc sit at a table over a game of cards. The human is leaned back with his feet up on the northern end of the table near the wall, while the orc simple sits in his chair facing to the east. Trevan

The sudden presence of the human jabbing at his companion brought Trevan into full focus of the melee they had stumbled into. At last a competent swordsman he thought as he slid around his companion to flank the man. "Ill handle this one." he says to Elzar as he moves past.

Once he positions himself behind the man he jabs at him with his sword. "Fancy yourself a swordsman? Lets see what you've got." he declares.

Move to G14, through Elzars space taking into account difficult terrain.

Dalwyn

Uttering an oath under his breath as his arrow misses yet again, Dalwyn quickly notches another and takes aim just as another figure comes rushing out into the fray. I hope that's the only one, Dalwyn thinks. Keeping his concentration, he fires the arrow at the orc again.

Mirroring Dawlyn's action, the Halfing takes careful aim and let's fly a bolt at the Orc that appears to be bleeding. It has been quite awhile since he has had a chance to fire such a thing and wasn't quite sure if it would find its mark as it flew shakily towards its intended target.

Howling in pain, the orc pushes off the wall and grabs a hold on Trull with both hands. The pair wrestle for a brief moment, nearly matched in strength and drive but the full blood is eventually able to shift his weight and throw the half-orc to the ground. Stepping around the fallen adventurer the orc drives a line towards Chormix and draws a shortword from its belt. A wicked grin spreads across his face and his fangs poke out from between his lips.

When his blade lands a gruesome blow to the humans torso yet leaves him standing Trevan decides to make the most of the strategy he learned with his years of research and practice. He steps slightly behind the crates to his right making it hard for his opponent to retaliate with a crate and Trevans shield blocking most of his torso.

Move to G15 to gain some cover from the crate. AC is 16 unless hit then parry for AC18 vs one attack, not counting cover.

Dalwyn takes a shot at the orc as it rushes towards Chromix but is unable to connect. The projectile embeds itself in the crates near Elzar just as he swings a might blow and connects with the back of the human swordsman. The man cries out in pain as he crumples to the ground gasping in pain. Meanwhile, Trull rises to his feet and swings towards the second human, unable to connect with his axe.
