We are in the same boat sis Ellyrion Chuckled Though i have the advantage i am practically invisible .

There you are you traitorous Hagson! a voiced cawed over Ellyrion, as a dark shadow descended on his face. Ellyrion barely managed to avoid the piercing claws of a....particularly livid white raven. Leaving me with that bloody parrot....what were you thinking you idiotic ego-for-brains ?

It's a pleasure to see you to Skrat Ellyrion said smiling , keeping to nimbly dodge the crow's attacks From your tone i assume that your relationship with the Corollax did not end well ?.

Damn right you are! Squawk ! Skrat cursed More jealous than a red dragon with his hoard i tell you ! She used her damn rainbow breath-

You mean color spray Ellyrion interfered

Yeah, that THe white crow accepted, stopping to attack Ellyrion , just hovering inches from his nose Plus she only cared about my looks. Well, to be honest that was mutual, but anyway, you had NO right to leave me with this hawk in parrot's feathers !

Didn't you said, o great and wise master raven Ellyrion said mockingly THat you had found your one true love , for the twentieth eighth time i may add, and you wanted to quit adventuring and start a family with your loving mate ?

Point taken The familiar agreed Why didn't you break the ritual by the way ? You knew i would be back ,didn't you ?

Yes Ellyrion smiled And now Ellie owes me a gold coin . She betted you would be eaten in the way home

Like the prince of all the White Ravens would fall to a simple bird of prey Skrat said proudly, as he hovered towards Elariel Betting against me huh ? I'll remember that miss know it all.

Elariel smiles warmly as she sees Skrat arrive.
"Hello Scrat. I must admit, I really wasn't expecting to see you ever again, and if you simply vanished, well, it seemed fair, given how you left. Still, it is good to see you again. If you are interested, Song is doing well, although she remains quite shy."

Poor thing Skrat sighed Sill to find it's mate eh ? Can't blame it, so small , most birds would eat it for a snack. He flew behind Elariel Come one now Song . Won't you come out to say hi to uncle Skrat ? I brought you something!

Elariel's hair seems to tremble for a moment, as though something small hiding in it was trembling in fear, but there is no other reaction.

YOu'll miss your present you know the white raven chuckled, as it flew to a close tree, returning with a small vial of nectar, barely capable of carrying it COme on here, it's orchid nectar , your favorite. THose people look scary bu i won't let them hurt you, promise. He softly tug Elariel's hair.

Lured out by the promise of nectar, the trembling hummingbird pokes her head out from her shelter, and chirps.

THere there Skrat said softly, offering the nectar to the little bird , placing it on it's specialized beak Remember now ? I did this for you so may times . Carefully, he nestled on Elariel's hair, careful not to upset her or song, as he kept the bottle with his beak. Meanwhile, the raven covered song with his large black wing, trying to make her comfortable and safe .

Cooing softly, Song chirps her thanks to Skrat, as she enjoys her nectar, her trembling coming to a stop, as she starts to feel less worried.

Feeling better girl ? Skrat said happily, petting Song's head with his wing Now i met my old gang, would you like to explain miss Elariel who the tall rocky one and the Fox guy is ? I wouldn't trust your brother with passing an honest opinion on them. By the way, why's all shadowy and stuff ? ?

Ellyrion grumbled something incoherent about how Crow soup was his favorite food when he was little, but is mostly smiling at the insults.

Song chirps once more, continuing to enjoy her nectar.

Elariel, glad that she was wearing her armor, had remained mostly still as Skrat returned, and landed on her shoulder, and as he started speaking with Song, but when he asks her questions, Elariel tries to answer.
"The large rocky one is a singing warrior called Seth, from a rather barbaric tribe. He is rather touchy. The Fox guy is Noegle, who seems rather arrogant, and argumentative. Ellyrion took in some of the shadows from the shadow plane when we were there, which seems to have changed him rather significantly. How have you been doing, Skrat? I assume that your latest escapade fell through?"

I still need to read that other book before we sell it, if anyone would be able to help. Seth points out when Elariel points out needing to find stuff to do. After all if she could not find a way to fill her time he had no problem making sure her and Noegle kept away from each others throats for a few hours each day.

Okay so last time I was told I was missing a +3 from the headband so lets try this again [roll0] +2 from aid another if someone helps
Action point only if needed bringing me down to 6 left [roll1]

As Seth hears the white Raven speaking about him and the answer it is given he looks to the bird. My name is Seth as lady Elariel has said, however unlike her who would call someone barbaric just because they are different then themselves I would like to think we are more civilized then many who live in cities harming the land instead of living from it. Seth says kindly to the bird, as for my singing, those who wish to lead war parties learn how to inspire their troops. As such I took to learn singing, sure I could have used a pair of drums, however then my hands would not be free to hold a blade and fight by the side of my allies. Seth explains seeing as the animal seemed to be intelligent he had no doubt it would at least understand the basic part of making big noise to scare others and inspire those with you.

Do we need anything for this ball? If not I will go back to where I have been staying trying to earn some more money to pay everyone back until it is time to read or go to this ball. Seth says not wanting to get rusty before the battle.

"I believe I can help you study, if needed. Seth, I called you barbarous for your belief in force, and strength, as the sole source of rulership. That insistence is the difference between civilization, and not. Now, as for the ball... I would vastly prefer to have proper clothing for it, assuming we can locate some. Good clothing helps a lot in introductions."

As Elariel explains her views Seth ponders on his answer for a moment, making sure he had found the right words in the common tongue before answering. If you believe those who rule by strength and force are barbaric you must then think all the sunguise are barbarians. He says holding up a large finger to stop her before she began a rant. Those in power stay so because of the power they displayed. In the case of the Eye he fought our entire tribe and won the battle forcing us to serve him. That would be considered Tryanny to most people. So meaning that he is barbaric as he used force and magic to beat us. Now I do not pretend to know much about your tribe, or how it works, however at one point or another it had to be made by someone strong so that others could not destroy it. Over time it may have changed, however it was always left to the strong to protect. All the sunguise use hunters to show their power, and do their bidding. They do this because they are powerful enough to make people do so. So from your very words this "civilized" world vs the barbarism I come from, at least my people are the more honest ones, should a time come when a strong leader was not needed we would adept. However without a strong leader one can not be inspired to fight, who will join blades with a coward who can not defend his own people? Seth asks you calmly, not arguing against what you believe, simply pointing out how he sees it, and thus the flaws he notices in your thinking.

Good clothing bad clothing all the same, efficient clothing works better then something you can not swing your weapon in. Seth comments, as he looks down at his own clothing, perhaps asking someone to wash it wouldn't be a bad idea. But a new set their was little point. As for me either way they will see me like a barbarian just as you do, and not look past that no matter the clothing I wear. It is better they see the true me and fear me, then for me to try and please those who may one day try to kill me. Seth explains kindly, however perhaps Mouse and Leeon would be back by now and he could ask her to go with him to this gathering.

Elariel shakes her head.
"The sunguises are potentially tyrants, but the Eye, at least, seems to realize that a light hand, ruling through words and relationships, is more effective than brute strength. Those in power stay in power so long as those that serve them allow it. Of course, the cost of not allowing them can be quite high, but that is the bottom line. From what I recall, your tribe started the war, and he ended it. You must be able to protect your own, but you must be sure what you are fighting for. My tribe banded together for mutual protection, from the desert. The desert was the enemy, not other tribes. The leader was selected because he was the best at gathering food, and he taught the others, and they elevated him to chief. Each time the chief dies, a new chief is chosen, typically the best foor gather, but not always. A good leader can always inspire his followers to defend themselves. A strong leader is not usually a good leader."
At Seth's comments on clothing, Elariel looks flabbergasted.
"You do know that the right clothing is armor, but for social situations, not combat situations. Clothing that you can fight in is good, but it is best if it doesn't look like you are worried. Confidence is often your best defense. You are seen as a barbarian because that is how you choose to be seen. If you wished to change that, you could. It is often better to be underestimated, that way, if your enemies do attack, they will do so with insufficient force. A fearful man will often strike out at what he fears. It is better to be unremarkable, so you can slip through with ease."

If the people who live under any of the guise were to rise up they would die for one of two reasons. The Sunguise himself, or the power vortex created their after. Even a successful elimination would still hold the problem of establishing and holding your boundaries. It is not something we expected when we pressed our boundaries, and the first wave we faced of against was not able to stand against us. It was more the whispers of someone seeing someone they had already killed over and over again that got to my tribe. Killing a Sunguise once was hard enough, at that time my tribe was strong. By the end, all of our strongest warriors were dead while the Eye still had clones. The strong won and so we now serve him we do not begrudge him for being stronger, simply on how he won. Better to face an army of tools, then face the same man over and over until he has adapted to the point in which it becomes an extermination. Seth says plainly, as if it were ancient past before he was born. However it is still clear from the display weeks ago his tribe was still fighting for their freedom. As for your tribe you just admitted the strongest rules it. While not physically strong he had the abilities one needed to survive where you lived. As such they made him chief, if they did not they may not even be here today correct? Seth asks, Strength changes from place to place. In regards to learning things, I would consider myself one of the weakest here unless it deals with stories or finding out odd things. While in a battle from what I have seen we are all on an even playing field. When I sing, your blows all hit harder and deeper. And when you get the enemies to attack you you give others time to help in which ways they can. We all hold a part and strength is always changing on circumstance. Physical strength is what is needed where my tribe lives to survive, as such the person with the most is the leader. No different then how your own tribe choose the person best able to find food.

To not bring your blade to the dinning table in my tribe suggests many things, none of them are good. Seth says as if looking out and seeing his tribe far away. One who believes their tongue is so skilled that a blade is not needed due to how good they lie is considered a dangerous threat to the tribe as a whole and one such as this would not need a blade. A traitor who is allowing an enemy to attack would also not need a blade to make them stand out against the others. And worst of all a person without their weapon at the table is not ready to defend their home at a moments notice. Seth says naming a few things, Children and elderly are exempt from these rules, however even they normally bring something with them to prove they are willing to protect those they can. I myself used to use a sling as a boy, plenty of rocks where I lived.

At Seth's description of the results of an uprising, Elariel shakes her head.
"No, they would die if they had a poor leader, but a good leader could fill that power vacuum with something. A great leader would split the power between multiple individuals. Equally so, the strength to hold the boundaries would need to be available, and this is something that a good leader would take into account. Defeating the eye... I would not suggest making him the first to fall. If anything, you would want him as your ally, as his information would be invaluable. Of course, the betrayal is inevitable, but sometimes, that's life."
After Seth's description of her tribe's way of doing things, Elariel looks surprised.
"So you do recognize that there are other sorts of strength? I was not expecting such abilities from you."

While Seth describes the his reasoning for needing weapons at the table, Elariel looks sad.
"That too, is a barbarous viewpoint. You don't need a weapon because you know that none in there will hurt you, or because you have enough allies that they would not dare. You are prepared to meet attacks in non-obvious ways, not simply through brute force. In the end, it comes down to trust. However, from your description, your tribe felt that it was always under siege, which makes life much more difficult. Were attacks common, or were they simply feared?"

Fool seems like the new go to insuts Noegle thinks, after hearing both Seth and Elariel say it. He refrains from pointing out that Elariel is the uncivilized one since he got it the way he wanted.

I'm opposed to going to that ball that you all seem so fond about. The eye is perfectly capable of protection himself and if he wanted us to "show our strength" he would have asked us. He responds before sighing surrenderingly, but if you insist I suppose I could use the next couple of days to figure out interesting things to do anyway.

What's the rules for that brawl and what is the prize? Is it one-on-one or grouped combat?

Oh no, he says smiling when Elariel descripes him to the familiar, He asked for a description of me, not you, he corrects, clearly implying who he thinks it the arrogant and argumentative one before turning to the familiar. Pleasure to make your acquintance Skrat, my name is Noegle Husk Self Bearathion. As everyone else around here I've recently become a hunter. What is your connection to Ellyrion?

Of course I'll help you with the book Seth but it didn't seem like you had any problems with the last one and this one is even easier.

Elariel looks over at Noegle as he claims to not want to go to the ball.
"Do you have a reason? We are going to make contacts, and to see if we can learn anything, not to show the strength of the eye."

Elariel just looks at Noegle, her expression clearly saying "This is why I call him arrogant."

Noegle looks uncomfortable as he answers ..there's likely people that I'd rather not meet right now.

Oh please. You call me argumentative? We barely stopped our argument before you started a philosophical argument with Seth. You call me uncivil yet you were sprouting insults at me barely a minute ago. You call me arrogant and yet your arrogance almost got me killed the first day of being a hunter. There's a difference between pride and arrogance and trying to force your religious view down on me is much closer to the latter than the former. I don't like your hypocrisy. He exhales deeply, it felt good finally getting it out in the open. That said you have proven your strength and usefullness already. While I don't expect us to ever become friend can we at least agree not to hinder each other. That includes not introducing each other the way you just did.

Elariel looks at him, seemingly interested in the answer.
"Could you be more specific? Perhaps the rest of us go, and you don't. Now, as for arrogance and argumentative... I can be arrogant at times, and I am always happy for a reasonable discussion, and yes, I do have a temper, especially now."
She pauses for a moment, before shaking her head slightly.
"But, it seems that you are also rather arrogant, and are quite eager to argue as well, and not do it well. I did not try to force my beliefs on you, I simply asked for you to respect them, which I can see you have no intention of doing so. I do not believe that my introduction to Skrat will hinder you in any way. He is a fairly intelligent bird, and is quite adept at drawing conclusions."
She stares at Noegle for a moment, before she looks around the group.
"In any event, it seems that we are going to stay in town for another week, more or less, with the intention of attending a party the day after tomorrow, and then, a couple of days later, participating in an arena battle, although more knowledge of the rules would be nice. Does anyone have any issues with that plan?"

Wow Ellie, that's a record on you! YOu managed to make someone hate you in just two mission! Skrat cawked Nice to meet both of you. WOuld you mind if i borrow the tiny-little amount of 5 gold coins to-

No Ellyrion said swiftly I will NOT feed your vanity you arrogant bird. Do you have any idea what one could do with such money ? SHame on you.

Yes we could go with that Skrat said with a sly tone , wihspering something on Ellyrion's ear as he flew close to him

Or would you like your little sis to know who broke her favorite doll you were young?

Even great leaders can not take everything into account. As you yourself have said, one does not become a sunguise without having the power to back them. To believe that one of the other sunguise, or even their enemies would not come and try to fill that power vacuum is a foolish thought. The first stage of the battle in the end becomes easier then the long term of now taking that persons place. A group may be able to do it, however over time even groups that once held the same ideals want something the other refuses to give up leading to strife. Using your logic we have a king, yet he holds no real power. It is his Sunguise that hold the power, and they in turn have their hunters. Not a single Sunguise can say they do not want something another has, and as such they each have boundaries, no doubt at one time they constantly fought over territory until the hunters came to be which they all agreed could move freely. The cost being that no other force of theirs could leave their land. Thus making invading a lot more difficult. Seth explains, hoping against hope she would see what he was pointing out. That while a great leader could split up power, it would only lead to more conflict.

As Elariel shows surprise at him being able to understand that their were different kinds of strength Seth simply taps his head. It is because your head is full. New things are not able to be absorbed when one thinks they have all the information already. You are intelligent, however you lack the wisdom of a shaman, or in my case keeper of the stories. No doubt with age this will come to you, however look at you and Noegle, you are both quick to fight with each other and neither one of you seems to really listen to what the other has to say. Perhaps you are both more alike then you think, spending time together in cases where you have only each other to depend on may open both of your eyes to a different way of seeing things. Seth says as he turns to Noegle And if you can show a stranger like myself the kindness you have, I am sure you would be able to come threw such a task no worse for ware. No doubt you would both argue and fight for the first part. However no doubt you would grow to understand each other as you had to depend on the others knowledge. Seth said kindly to the two, hoping they would find some way to work things out.

When one considers your race savages and barbarians knights come to cleanse the land to protect those more civilized. Nature also has her favorites, and does not suffer fools for long. Our region is mostly known for Lion's and other such felines. Over time we have adapted to the way they pounce on their prey and have incorporated it into our own fighting style. But by no means are they the only predator we have to worry about, just the most dangerous. Seth explains to Elariel as she asks if his tribe expected fights often or lived in a state of fear if one would.

You do not have to attend the ball Noegle, as to he didn't ask us to come. If he had to ask us we would be no better then red shirts common guards. We should know what to expect from our title, and if we went to another Sunguises home and their was many wonders to be on display as a hunter would you not try to get them for your own? Seth points out to Noegle, wondering if there was a different reason why he didn't want to go to the ball. However when the two begin to start up an argument again Seth slams his fist down onto the table he was sitting at. ENOUGH! he bellows as he looks at the two. Stop the bickering or we will have to find a way to cure it. Seth says holding back a fit of anger.

[roll0]

As for the last book, Seth says trying to calm down. My people live to fight, so it was easy to pick up. I am not sure this other book will be as easy. He explains as he regains his composure and the blue gauntlets seem to vanish from his arms.

"A great leader is one who takes advantage of every opportunity, and maximizes his people's chances of survival. Before attacking, he would ensure that victory is possible, in both the long term and the short term. That is the difference between a good leader and a great leader. Ultimately, such a leader would need to know the motivations of the sun guises, but, for now, we are not great leaders. We have other things to do."
Elariel shakes her head at Seth's next comment.
"There is much to be learned, and there is never enough time to learn. True, I am not as wise as my former master, but, being so would be difficult. He has had far longer to accumulate wisdom than I."
While Seth describes the threats his people faces, she frowns.
"A threat you can face, or can flee from is a simple one. The threats we faced... were far greater. The sun can kill in hours, and if it doesn't get you, the lack of water, or the lack of salt will. Salt is more valuable than gold there. The many insects, scorpions, snakes, and other such creatures are hard to see, and deadly. One sting, and you are crippled, and to be crippled alone in the desert is to die. Food is scarce, as edible cacti are few, and there are few oases where one might get the water needed for survival. I would far rather face an enemy you can see than the never ending series of threats."
At his outburst, Elariel simply looks at him, disapprovingly.

Noegle considers pointing out the difference between arrogance and pride again but thinks it futile. He also refrains from explaining the difference between threatening someone to do something and asking them. Generally speaking you are hindering people when you introduce them in a negative way. If that's difficult to understand then I'm asking you to not introduce me at all.

Hearing the description of the rules for the brawl Noegle frowns. Fighting without weapons and magic? Sounds like a fight for monks for me. Why do you want to fight without using your real combat skills?

Wow Ellie, that's a record on you! YOu managed to make someone hate you in just two mission! Skrat cawked Nice to meet both of you.
I don't hate her, Noegle correct, hate is a very strong word that I prefer to reserve for enemies, not allies.

Noegle doesn't want to participate in the strength debate. He does however respond when accused: Hey I am listening. I just disagree on most of her points. He smiles at Seth in responds to his kind words. He then smiles at the situation, a barbarian was trying to be the middle man in a heated conversation. Quite funny. At least until he smashed his hand into the table. Ah well, would be a shame if we were extended the fight from words to weapons. I don't think we need to discuss anything more as is. See you after the ball.

I'd rather not but let's discuss it again at some later point. Let's meet again after the ball. With that he motions to leaving the table. Assuming nobody have problems with Noegle leaving he leaves the place. He hopes that the discussion of the brawl can wait and as Elariel had pointed out he needed a counterproposal.

He'll spend the rest of the day writing a letter and sending it. Seeking up some necromancer for advice on best ways to use animate dead. Then he'll seek out Ovel to ask if he knows anything about how he might be able to transform into an undead. If Ovel doesn't have ideas he'll ask if Ovel knows anyone who might. Possibly the necromancer from earlier, Adrianna or Francius. If Noegle doesn't know any he'll ask Francius the same question.
(On the outside)To Rheelos

Greeting sir Rheelos

The Brown Cloaks near Clara Noctum speaks highly of you.

Never have I seen such a kind-hearted tribe of Gnolls and after hearing how they speak of you I am suspecting that you have a part in this.

If it is so I would be eager to learn your secret and would be in your depth if you would be as kind as to share it.

If you agree would you prefer a letter exchange or a meeting?

Sincerely yours

-Noegle Self Husk Bearathion of the noble House Bearathion and Sun Hunter for the Eye region.

The following day he'll spend 8 hours trying to figure out if he could possibly emulate the negative energy that fuels undead and (temporarily) turn into one himself. If he got any information the day before he'll use that. If not he'll use the book the eye gave them and ask him. If any of this provides any leads, even a faint one, he'll spend 8 hours following that hint. Perhaps a relic? Perhaps a place to go or someone far away who would know something.
If he doesn't discover some place to go or seek out with the group, he'll spend 8 hours trying to figure out possible things for do for the party. He's especially interested in jobs that require taking down one of a few particular creatures.
Astral Dragon, young age(DR 344,pg 27)>Ibrandlin(Monsters of Faerun, pg 62)>Chole Dragon, Young adult(DR 344, pg 29)>Fulborg=Fire Giant=Hydra

He'll spend the last 6 hours either helping Seth if he needs it(or Elariel haven't helped him already) or continue his studies of blood transfusion, possibly borrowing/buying a book from Adrianna.

Back at Francius' study, Ovel considers Noegle's question. "Well, it depends on the kind of Undead you want to become, but I know a few necromancers that could help. The first step is for you to die, of course. If you want to be a shadow, I can help with that."

Sønderjye
2015-02-19, 03:22 AM
"Not that way. I want have a dream of being able to transform into any being and on the path I'm currently on there are some forms that I will never be able to shape into. I want to emulate the become an undead the same way I can a panther or a sea elf."

Sliver
2015-02-19, 04:03 AM
"I stand by what I said." Ovel says. "If you want your body to emulate those who have died, it should experience death. The line between life and undeath is not so thin, and until you have glimpsed what it's like on the other side, I doubt you'll be able to achieve your goal."

Sønderjye
2015-02-19, 04:34 AM
Oh Noegle says, relalising his mistake. Less pleasant that I thought but I can work with that. To answer your question I want to be all undeads! Even if it's one step at a time. Shadow works for a beginning.

Sliver
2015-02-19, 05:23 AM
"Becoming a Shadow isn't a step you'd want to take, at least not one you want to start from." Ovel says. "The transformation ruins your mind and body. It will take a lot of effort to retain your own personality, but your skills and knowledge will be locked. Regaining them would take almost as long as learning them originally took you, and considering you wish to return to your original state... I doubt your body would learn much from being completely destroyed. For a start, perhaps go through death and resurrection, without going through the undeath of it. If you want to speed up your learning curve, going through the rituals and becoming a Necropolitan would probably help. Though you'll probably want to get destroyed and return back to life as your original self afterwards... The process would strain your soul though."

Which creature do you think would be the easiest to start from? A ghoul or a lacedon? A bat deep night hunter? And have you by chance heard of a magical artifact that can help me? or something similar? Noegle asks, showing increasing enthusiasm, with sparkling hope in his green eyes. But I'd rather avoid my soul being too strained. There are some spells that only leave me in the underworld for a few seconds, do you think they'll suffice? Do you think that running negative energy through my body do something?
Also do you know anyone who could help me with studying the phenomena?

"What do you mean, start from?" Ovel asks. "Trying to turn into? That depends on what you are most comfortable imitating alive, I guess... What's a lacedon? Nevermind... I haven't heard of anyone actually transforming into an undead... At least not temporarily, with your kind of shifting... I'll ask a necromancer I know regarding this. It's all a theory, you know? Don't get your hopes too high. But perhaps I'll get him to work with you on that. Though it's unlikely to be free, you know? I mean, he might take payment in bodies, you never know... But gold is a safe choice too."

Trying to transform into as the first form. When I learned to transform into animals I also started with the less complex ones. Noegle explains his thoughts, I'm pretty comfortable with human-like creatures and animals but not the magical ones. I just learned to immitate a giant but I'd rather not start with anything that size. The more mass a thing has the more there is to visualize.
How many have your heard of that use my kind of shifting? He asks curiously before defending his hope, nobody had heard about elans before they were created right, there's a first time for everything and I've heard of undeads capable of doing my kind of shifting although I'm unsure how they do.
If he was able to help me I would be him in debt and a Bearathion always pays his debt Noegle responds almost automatically. Payment in bodies would suit me well, we're returning to the phoenix order's headquarters as soon as the antidote is ready and there were quite a bit of different creatures there.

The next morning(assuming Ovel haven't returned by then) he'll use his newly gained spells to dive into the divine and prepare Rigor Mortis. He'll take a couple of minutes to steady himself before letting death itself embrace him. While dead he'll try to grap a hold of some of the negative energy and drag it back with him when he returns to the world of the living.
If Ovel has returned with news of a meeting, he'll seek out the necromancer.

I never claimed to want them gone, only stated what would happen if someone tried. Perhaps later we can talk more about leadership. Seth says wanting to think over what Elariel had said, from what it sounded like, she wanted to take out at least one of them. Accepting that you are not the wisest is the first step to learning true wisdom Elariel. It is good to see you can be reasoned with when given enough free time to talk on matters. I was beginning to believe much like Noegle that you simply liked to argue. Seth explains, seemingly pleasantly surprised.

And that is how you lose a war. Underestimate others because you think you had it harder. I can not comment on the sun, however almost all environments hold hidden dangers that if you are not aware of can easily kill. I believe if we ever went to a frozen land for example you would be quite hindered without the use of magic due to being used to the sun being able to kill you in hours, which implies it is rather hot.

Either way I shall be staying for the brawl, I only brought it up to better the chances of winning. After all if we enter their is a chance one of us can make it to the final four. And if we win there, then we get the award money and the other item. Then I could pay off my debts. Seth explains, after all they had waited for the books to be read, so why couldn't he in turn finish reading the books.

As they all head their separate ways, Seth once more goes back to studying the other book, however it seems to come much easier to him then he had first thought, no doubt thanks to the headband. Once done he goes to the Salamander looking for Mouse, and if she had not returned yet tries to learn about the rules of the brawl on his own.

Noegle

Determined to find a way to transform into undead, you subject yourself to your own necromantic power, embracing death, though momentarily, hoping to gain some insight into the world of the dead. As you succumb to the spell, you feel as though you are pulled out of your body, the tethers that bind the soul to its vessel being severed. You can't help but feel a cold rush of panic course through your body, as the magic fools it, convincing it that it is dying. Then, you black out.

You find yourself walking through the fog. It is thick, and your movements are slow and heavy. Sometimes, you are certain that you see faces through the fog. Some of them familiar, some are not. They seem to be reaching out to you, surrounding your essence with their own griefs and regrets, weighing you down further. Their touch is colder than anything you have ever felt before. Not to your physical body, but your soul itself. You heard the stories, everybody does. This isn't the place for your soul to rest in. But what is it?

You stumble slowly onward, looking for something, anything, but before you find answers, you awake in your body, breathing heavily.

Make a Will save at DC 12 (10+Spell Level) or get a point of Depravity. You can choose to forfeit the save and accept the Taint. If you get the point of Depravity, roll a d10 to see which of the mental symptoms you get.

Ovel finds you a few hours after dawn.

"Sometimes I forget how insufferable people can be." The shadow grumbles. "I met with him, but the necromancer thinks so highly of himself that it's almost impossible to talk to him, regardless of your station. The thing doesn't care. He claims to be too busy for another project right now, though I doubt he really is. He said he'll see you when he'll see you, but in undead standards, that could take a while. I can push him to see you sooner, rather then never, or I could show you where he resides so you can pester him yourself, if you want."

Seth finds that Mouse is still gone, so he goes to find out more about the brawl.

It's four blocks of all-out brawl, meaning that everybody participating are divided into four groups and go at it against each other until one is remaining.
The four remaining winners will brawl again in an all-out final match to determine the winner.
No equipment, no magic. Fists and natural talent only. If it doesn't work in an anti-magic field, it's cheating.
Brawlers lose when unconscious, yielding or disqualified through breaking the rule above, or to the discretion of the judge.
The chosen arena is an abandoned warehouse in one of the city's poorer districts, to the south-east.

Ellyrion spars a bit with the members of the Brandished Sword, placing his own abilities at around the same level of a seasoned member of the club, those of the rank of Blade. Like his sister. He too, can attempt to join the club.

Uhhh, he is the uncle of the second king... I guess was would be more appropriate, since the second king is long dead. I think Roh'nal is about twelve hundred years old, being one of the few living people that were around when the fey were still running around. Well, alive in the conscious sense, he is a lich, after all. Wouldn't bother asking him about fey, though, since he was always more interested in the world of the dead than the living and have never bothered learning or recording anything about the fey. He decided that all undead business is his business, so he manages foreign and local undead affairs. The ones we saw on the way back from the Jade Phoenix base? Probably had a permit from him, or one of his workers. Some say that he has great influence over the Undying Sunguise, but that was never actually established. "That bloated head sure is powerful, but don't remind him that." Ovel says. "I guess the reason he isn't a Sunguise is the same as why he isn't a king. Never cared."

The Temple of the Dead is a humble place, with a few benches and a small tree at the center. Two shrines for the death gods are set in front of some religious painting of religious importance. A woman in grey robes, a female necropolitan to be exact, walks around the temple, cleaning, praying, tending to the lights, stuff acolytes do. There are several doors, probably leading to rooms where bodies can be cleaned and treated before burial, or other appropriate sendoff rituals. A set of stairs leads to the hall of the dead, for the more important bodies.

The woman frowns. "Yes, Master Roh'nal said that you might come after being pestered by that shadow." She says and moves a lampstand, causing the painting to vanish and reveal a hallway behind it. "Well, go ahead." She shoos you in.

You find a floating skull flying around what appears to be a combination of an office, a medical center and a morgue. A group of undead, mainly necropolitans, with a few ghouls, skeletons and a mohrg, walk around the large room, sorting through paperwork, tending to bodies or handling various materials. A large monstrosity, a creature known as a Devourer, moves to block your entrance. "Name?" It growls at you impatiently.

"Let it go, Fred. This must be the one the shadow came to talk about." The skull says, floating towards you, emeralds shining in its eye sockets. A skeleton follows the skull, its hands extended for undead ravens to sit upon, parchment in their beak, waiting for their messages to be read. "Nigel, was it? What do you want. I already told the shadeling that I haven't got the time."

You can feel the unpleasant aura the thing emits as it comes closer, though you are too capable to bulk and flee. Maybe it would be a good idea, anyway?

He sinks and tries to gather his courgage. Surely the Eye would retaliate if one of the undeads thought he looked more like a snack than a person. With many years practice he forced his voice to not show what he truely feels and instead appear relaxed. Close, it's Noegle. He corrects in a friendly matter. He did say that but it sounded like he didn't get the intent of my proposal through. I'm not asking you to help me out of the goodness of your heart but hope for an exchange of favors. "He doesn't look impressive." The Devourer responds.

So in the hypothetical situation that I were to fight a Devourerer tomorrow would you have any advice? Do you know of ways to avoiding negative levels the soul-crushing effect it has? He'll explain the situation more in depth to Ovel and Francius since they may know that specific devourer.

You are informed that to join the club, you would be required to pay an entrance fee of 100gp and pass a trial, though you have already showed your skill enough so that trial wouldn't be necessary. Afterwards, you will be recognized as a Novice member of the Brandished Sword. To rise in rank, you will have to undergo three months of training, though the club recognizes that you wouldn't be able to go for three straight months and is willing to have an alternative training program, which can be split into weeks. During weeks of training, you will be restricted to the club, so other activities would be out of the question. (It also requires paying 500xp).

Rising from rank of Fellow (above Novice) to Blade requires Base attack +4, Str or Dex 14+, Feint, Weapon Focus, Diplomacy, 2 ranks, challenge. The challenge is to win in a nonlethal duel against a member one level higher than you are. Also, 1000xp.

There are two ranks beyond that, but they are most likely not available to you, as they are reserved for leaders within the club, something you would not have the time to be invested in.

When the sun rises Noegle almost jump out of bed. He hasn't been this excited since he was about to meet Armade. The challenge he would face today would have great influence on his future and even if he lost he needed to make a good impression on the arrogant necromancer. He makes his morning rituals and seeks out his fellow hunters: So sorta said that I was going to duel this improved version of a devourer and I was wondering if you'd want to come watch?
To Seth: I think the challenge will be hard and I fear that I might need your strength to bail me out if it wins. It's very strong.
To Elariel: This might be your only chance to learn about a Devourer.
To Ellyrion: When I helped your sister after Armade you said that I had your weapon if I needed it. I don't really trust this necromancer and I fear I might need you

Immediately before arriving at the necromancer's lair Noegle cast his last minute spells. I'm ready, what are the rules for the duel? He says with great confidence, mostly to convince himself.

When facing the devourer he is what appears to be his own form, small(relatively) and with small arms, without much muscle. I considered enchanting you but I think it'll be a better show if I take you down by hitting you until you are down. he says before casting bite of the wererat to grow teeth. He hopes that by looking weak and arrogant that the devourer will take up the challenge to not use it's spells. He let's a bit of his insecurity slip through his guards to strengthen the impression of him being weak and that the win is obviously in the devourer's hands already.

Why not ask if you may be granted one ability from each of your allies for this battle? This would allow me to try and inspire the flame that burns within you, while perhaps the twins can make you harder to hit. Seth says. However in a proving rite my people do not offer direct interference. If you do not think you are stong enough to do it you simply don't. It is why I have held off my own proving rite this long. May be your wish, but it is more expensive to return from undeath than it is to return from death." He warns you, turning to Fred. "Don't go easy on him. Either he surrenders, or stops moving. Maybe that will teach these Hunters to stop wasting my time with their bravado." He turns back to Noegle. "Do whatever you think is right. I don't care for you either way."

Fred nods, and as you cast your own spell, the Devourer disappears (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?387797-Sun-Hunters-Extras&p=18854938&viewfull=1#post18854938). (Anyone who watches, the combat will continue there)

Surrendering almost immediately after the quick beatdown delivered by the still invisible Devourer, Noegle stands, bloodied and drained.

"At least your assessment that the battle would be one-sided should you have time to prepare was accurate." Roh'nal says, clearly unimpressed by your performance. "Perhaps now you'll be less inclined to waste my time with empty boasts. I'll tell you one thing, regarding your goal. It is foolish. Life and undeath are powered by opposing energies. The negative energy doesn't leave the soul intact. Undead have immunity to its corruption because they embrace it, but you want to contain it. Your mind and body won't be, and can't be, clean, if you want to make it a reality. In one way or another, you will have to be tainted. It nearly destroyed Ovel, who merely wanted to keep his consciousness intact, and he was a far better man than you. If you think that you can do better, then perhaps Fred didn't beat the arrogance out of you as much as he should have. Now leave, all of you. Even the dark boy behind the pillar."

Noegle stumbles to hit feet and fights to keep his balance as he turns towards the necromancer. He keeps his eyes fixed on the ground, to conseal the anger, defiance and hurt pride, as he makes an elegant bow. I'm sorry for bothering you, Roh'nal Causar. I overestimated myself and regret that I wasted your time. It will not happen again. I thank you for sharing your wisdom.

Noegle hides in the library, with his nose deep in books.
list of things he finds out(subject to Sliver's oppinion as always)
Some undeads can turn into animals etc but their forms is still dead. (Corrupted wild shape)
Powerful spellcasters can turn into undeads (and constructs via shapechange)
Is possible to grow undead flesh in living subjects (mother cyst)
There's no known long duration shifters that can turn into undeads. In extention almost all long duration shifters belong to a druidic groove and such grooves generally finds undeads a disgrace to nature.(Call it an educated guess based on your stereotypical druid and the mention of druidic grooves)
It's possible to replace organs driven by positive energy with undead body parts(Flesh Grafts)
Out of these only Flesh Graft gives taint?

Based on that Noegle guesses that Roh'nal probably make experiments regarding living creatures turning temporarily to undeads early in his career and after losing interest in the living he hasn't tried again later. Having found a reason to disagree with the necromancer he starts trying to manipulate the strong negative energies that are flowing through his body. He'll rotate between reading about undeads and trying to do the negative energy mojo, while it's still inside his body. He makes a mental note to seek out a flesh grafter at some later point to get an in depth explenation on how the dead limp powered by positive energy works.
When evening comes Noegle have become so frustrated with the lack(or very slow rate) of progress and decides to go to the ball anyway, at least for dinner. Not wanting to be recognized he disguises himself as a sea elf, that looks nothing like him. He puts on a layer of star elf outside his form, just in case anybody managed to see through the first layer. He'll introduce himself as Marcus Flint and show the hunter badge to get in.

The time comes for the party and you make your way to the Bronzesetter Estate. It's a large and impressive building, made of brick with a golden-orange hue to it. The main house is five stories high, but there are also two cylindrical towers on each of the far sides, with a long bridge connecting them. Classical gargoyle statues stand along the roof of the house in varying poses, their skin and eyes embedded with gemstones.

The area around the estate is surrounded with greenery, trees, flowers and colorful bushes being in contrast with the estate itself and the city as a whole. The garden itself is surrounded with a tall metal fence. You approach the wide gates leading up to the estate, the bars of which are twisted in the form of two elks colliding their antlers. Two guards are standing by the gates, one on each side, wearing a bronze colored set of fullplate armor, the helmet's face-guard lowered, each holding a guisarme.

A few feet in front of them stands a man in a simple black suit, holding a small book, marking arrivals and making sure everybody who comes is on the list. But more interesting is the two people standing nearby.

124 nods to you with a faint smile, approaching. The man next to him leans on the fence, looking at you for a few moments before finally walking behind the clone as well. 124 is dressed in a fine black suit, appropriate for a servant of high ranking on official occasions, especially one of the Eye. Around his neck is a silver chain with an eye insignia.

The other man is dark skinned, rivaling the new coloration of Ellyrion. In contrast to 124, and to his own skin color, his clothing is made of much finer quality, a style reserved for nobles, wearing the green and gold with dignity and pride. The amulet around his neck seems to be made out of solid darkness, some of it evaporating off the material, surrounding it with shadowy mist.

"We were wondering when you might show up." Ovel says with a smile. He examines Noegle for a bit. "That's an interesting look, you've got there... Marcus. So, how did it go with Roh'nal? I see that you are still alive."

"Are you ready?" 124 asks, motioning for you to show your hunter rings.

"Hello 124, and Ovel. It did seem to be a good plan to attend, if we were here, and, as it turned out, we were."

Determined that after an afternoon of study, you have better grasp of the relations between life and undeath than the twelve centuries old necromnacer, you focus on the negative energies that infest your body, trying to play them with the positive energies that power your body, instead of against. You begin to sweat as the energies clash together within your body, the resulting chaos threatening to wreck havoc on your mind. Finally, you manage to pull through, perhaps the fact that your soul is weakened saved your life. Still, you aren't left unscathed, an unnerving feeling threatens to overwhelm you. (You are Crazed, as per the post in the OOC)

"Song... it looks like we need a gift for the prince, and, well... I don't have one. Do you think you could get one?"
Song shudders.
"Please? It should be fast, and I know you're terrified, but you're brave too! You can do this! Do you think you can make it to that trinket shop, and get a puzzle ring? The two gold should be enough. Please?"
Song shudders once more.
"Song, please? No one else can do this. Afterwards, you should be able to explore the garden, and there are lots of hiding spots there, and flowers!"
This time, Song doesn't shudder, but the coins seem to vanish from Elariel's hand, and a bare glimpse of a brightly colored hummingbird can be seen as Song zooms off, to retrieve a present.
"Thank you, Song."

"They came from a different culture..." Ovel remarks. "They didn't know what was expected of them."

Once more, Elariel shrugs, as she explains her reasoning.
"I couldn't begin to afford a big, fancy, impressive gift, as I'm sure many of the other visitors are providing, so I went with a more intellectual gift. My information was limited, and did not include his age, or that he was spoiled, which makes my gift a poor choice. There isn't anything I can do about it, and who knows, maybe he will enjoy it. I doubt it, but it is possible. Besides, the gift of unspoiling a child requires a more long term investment, and support of everyone that he can protest to, which I certainly don't have time for, nor do I have the inclination, or experience that would be required."

Sliver

"Lacking information isn't worthy of mention, since had you bothered to ask, you would have easily found that out." 124 remarks. "Instead of owning up to your mistakes or inadequacy, you are simply trying to make up excuses and reasons that might sound intellectual, if they weren't meant to simply distract from your shortcomings. You brought up unspoiling the prince in the first place, only to say that it is not your intention regardless. Is there a point in your words? You could say that you can't afford anything worthwhile and be done with it, but instead..." 124 walks into the garden.

"I think he might still resent you from the first encounter..." Ovel says with a shrug. "Of course, I don't blame him. I can barely tolerate you myself."

"I am not a people person. Give me something to study, or a physical or magical problem to solve, and I can help. Give me people to talk to, and again, in some cases, I can help, but I am not skilled in subtlety, and my directness can be offputting."

Sliver
2015-02-23, 01:51 PM
Ovel raises an eyebrow, before smiling and looking pleased at the ability to perform such a facial expression. "Directness? Is that what you call being rude and offensive? Have you ever considered that an apology isn't a subtle approach? Or are you sure of yourself that you can't imagine that how you behaved was wrong? You weren't direct with him, you blatantly ignored him when he talked to you. When he actually tried to give you advice. On a subject that you have admitted to be lacking in. Talking with people. Or did the encounter with Eternal Armade was so hard on you that you don't recall? Elariel, you are again making up excuses for a behavior that is simply unacceptable. Instead of apologizing and trying to be better, you are simply stating your flaws as though it's just how things work and others should accept it, or they are the ones being unreasonable. It's a shame, because you aren't only not going to obtain new allies like that, but you will also alienate those who are your allies."

I don't really want to have this conversation now, but if he's trying to help...
"I was trying to show him how I was thinking, in hopes that he might have a suggestion that might help now. I... don't see how my response to 124 was insulting. Perhaps I should avoid explanations? But that also makes it much harder to learn. True, I was rather rude to Armande, but he was rather rude, so I felt it was fair. Perhaps not wise, but fair. I would probably choose a different course in the future, as that was rather painful, but... I can't change the past, only the future. You are correct, simply explaining my weakness doesn't help, unless whomever I am talking with is willing to offer advice to change that flaw."

Sliver
2015-02-23, 02:09 PM
Ovel shrugs. "I guess you were hit pretty hard by Armade. You ignored 124 then. At the church. That is insulting. You haven't bothered to apologize. You haven't bothered to apologize to me, either. Or perhaps you don't remember how you might have insulted me, either? Why would anyone bother giving you advice when your behavior so far has been entirely dismissive? At no point in me knowing you, have I ever got even the remote hint that you listen to anything that might collide with your own view. You didn't accept that you have a weakness. You stated that you are direct, and others find it off putting. Does that sound like someone who looks for advice? To me, it sounds like a person who would claim that it's not their fault that others can't handle the truth. Elariel, being offensive and than saying 'that's how I see things' or 'that's the truth from my perspective' doesn't make you right, less offensive, or more likable. It makes you a dismissive, condescending brat. You can't say these things and still except others to give you advice."

"I... at the time I was somewhat confused, at best. My memory is rather foggy regarding that time. I remember pain, but that's about it. If I insulted you, I apologize. I... wasn't at my best, by any definition of the word."
As he continues, explaining precisely what he thought of her, a hot flare of anger flows through her.
Is that what he thinks? Just because all their arguments, their comments have clear and obvious flaws in them, and because someone needs to make decisions... But if I want people to actually like me, then perhaps I need to change. At least consider what others are saying...
Elariel strives to keep her face calm, and she mostly succeeds.

Why would one give a six winters old child a gift? Is he going away to learn how to fight or something else memorable? Seth asks before hearing it is better to bring no gift then a cheap gift. Song's and Stories are treasured gifts to my people, passed down from one generation to another so that we never forget our past and where we came from. The guards let you in and you begin your short trek through the garden, walking on the path made of small, tightly packed, stones. Small paper lanterns are hanging from the trees, cut in different shapes and colors, giving off a colorful set of lights to your approach. The trees part to give you a better view of the estate, now that you are closer.

A small table is set by the double ashwood doors entrance, to the side of the path. It seems to be featuring many drawings of different dresses and formal outfits, all of which seem to have a small badge next to them. Approaching the table, Elariel sees the paintings of gowns and suits, of many styles and coloring. Some are more elaborate than others, but all of them are still quite exquisite. Compared to them, the badges are rather simple, shield shaped, metallic with a quicksilvery sheen to it. They look rather plain otherwise, with a light coloring and trim difference corresponding to the color and style of the attire on the drawing they are attached to.

The man behind the table looks curiously at Noegle touch the painting, and then the badge. He laughs. "Oh no, sir, you put the badge on." He says. "We always set up a stand for Hunters, whenever an event that is likely to attract several groups of them happens, since they rarely have something fitting to wear. You attached the badge to your clothes, wherever you want, and it transforms into the suit that you picked. To remove the suit, you simply rip out the piece where the badge used to be. They can transform only once and you can't really remove the clothes without tearing it off, though..." He says, apologetically. "We offer all Hunters that don't have a suit one badge per event, though you are welcome to buy as many as you like. They only cost 25 gold per suit. Of course, you already have one, so it wouldn't be fair to take one for free..." He looks over at Seth. "We also have more... Tribal attire, if that would interest you." He draws out a suitcase out of his pouch and opens it, revealing similar badges. The paintings on them feature clothing made out of pelts and furs in tribal design, some of them decorated with bones, creating an almost armored look to the clothing.

Hm... now, to find the right dress... something that I can move in, that doesn't scream for attention, and that I would be comfortable wearing. I think red, orange, and black, to represent fire is a decent choice for color, and styling... should be relatively simple, but elegant. And not too revealing.

She looks through the available paintings, before finding the one that she feels matches her requirements, before she takes the badge, and presses it, experimentally, to her stomach, not wanting to end up in a situation where she needs to tear it from somewhere more awkward.

As Seth is asked the name his last name or the name of his tribe he looks at Noegle oddly. I am known as a Stonesinger in my tribe, an honory title held only by those who pass on our tribes stories. Seth says oddly. As for a formal name I would not know what the eye called us, we simply refereed to ourselves as the spirit lions due to our connection with lions. I doubt that is what you mean though. Seth says as he looks at the attire shown and sees an outfit that resembles a lion pelt that left his chest bare besides the strap of his sword. I will take this one. He says attaching it carefully to his left pant pocket experimentally.

Thank you Noegle sends the man a friendly, consealing his annoyance over needing help. I'm afraid my current outfit is fueled by magic and would be invisible to a respectable number of guests he says as he extends his hand to take a badge of a somewhat similar attire, he suddenly realises that with that being true the there would be a number of people who could see that he weren't a star elf. While wondering he asks with genuine curiosity Who are we?

Noegle nods at Seth and Elariel when he hears their names and repeats, Elariel Fireborn of the Deepsand Tribe, Ellyrion Shadowborn of the Deepsand Tribe and Seth Stonesinger of the Spirit Lion Tribe. That'll work?

As Seth picks his suit Noegle reshapes his body such that it looks like an ordinary human, but with different features than himself. He also digs through the disguise and tries to make some mild adjustments such that if anybody would see through the altered body he wouldn't be immediately recognizable.

He'll adress the herald(or whatever titel the guy who's supposed to announce us) and say: Marcus Flint, Sun Hunter under the Eye. Elariel Fireborn of the Deepsand Tribe, Sun Hunter under the Eye. Ellyrion Shadowborn of the Deepsand Tribe, Sun Hunter under the Eye. Seth Stonesinger of the Spirit Lion Clan, Sun Hunter under the Eye. Normally he found the formalities quite a bore but in this case it might help him out that he gave the three other hunters so much attention.

Alter Self can't be used to change appearance afterwards, but I'll allow it this once because Noegle would have probably picked a different disguise from the start had you knew about the true seeing.

Remember the rather limited duration of the spell and that such events tend to be longer than a couple of hours.

With everybody picking an outfit they like, Noegle introduces the group and the man announces you to the hall, as you step in.

The ballroom is filled with people, most of which are Clara Noctem's nobility. Men wearing greens, blues, reds and blacks, some cloaked, others carrying dueling canes, standing in groups, discussing partnerships, trades or idle banter regarding philosophy or religion. Women in gowns of bright colors, spinning and twirling as they are dancing with their partners, or gathered together and gossiping about the faults of people that aren't fortunate enough to be them.

On a stage, a group of warforged is playing the delightful music that fills the air, a band that, as Ovel informs you, calls themselves 'Heavy Metal'. Because they are warforged.

The ballroom itself is a vast circular room with a lowered stage at the center where people can dance, with tables filled with snacks around which people can mingle and chat before the main feast begins. A level above you is the balcony, for the couples that seek a bit more intimacy. On the far side of the room, on a raised fancy chair, sits the prince, a young boy sitting with his back straight as to appear taller in his seat, a dark green cloak underneath him, attached around his collar with a golden antler broach, probably a gift from the Bronzesetter family. His black hair seems to be struggling against the forced flattening it has experienced probably moments before the event itself, and his brown-green silk outfit almost demands to be wrinkled, despite the best efforts of Price Hornest to remain still.

In front of him, a group of fire breathers and sword jugglers are providing the current entertainment, while the price himself seems to be more occupied with the young lady that took his side. On the price's left stands a tall man in fullplate armor, though without his helmet, observing the party with keen eyes that show no emotion, even when his graying hair shows either age or stress in his life. Behind the man stands a slightly younger, though not by much, woman in the light-blue silvery priestess robes of St. Cuthbert, with a silver holy symbol hanging above them. From the markings of the robes, she is likely of rather high position in the church.

To the right of the prince, though moved to give the prince and the lady some space, stands a clone of the Eye, though clothed more as nobility than 124, and a bit higher too, as unlikely as that sounds. Perhaps it's the shoes? He is wearing a deep red cloak and wields a long silver-bone cane, held tightly in the grip of well trained hands. Whatever this clone's role is, he seems to be better trained for court compared to 124's meekness. There is a glow to this clone's eyes that is hard to miss once you saw it before, the glow that marks the Eye's presence.

124 approaches you with a box in his hands. "This gift to the prince has been prepared in your name." He says coldly, motioning for you to take the lead as he would follow closely behind, ready to present the present.

As you continue making your way around the dance floor, Ovel points to a group of people, ignoring some of the glares he receives for a rather rude gesture. "Put that down." 124 remarks. "Nah, I can finally point again!" Ovel says, ignoring him.

"See these guys, they're the Helm Hunters that came with the prince." He points at a group that seems to be the center of a crowd of nobles.

Vianna of the Mist, a beautiful half elf known for manipulating hearts and minds, through magic and mundane means alike. She flows through the crowd of nobles, playing them with simple words or gestures and they react as though puppets entranced by her, drinking every word that slips through her lips as though their lives depend on it.

Charlotte Swiftfingers, Vianna's half sister, a human girl of barely seventeen years old, stands nearby, laughing at some dull joke one of the noble boys had told in an attempt to charm her. Her mastery of the dark arts, namely poisons and curses, is only rivaled by her deadliness with her famous elven courtblade, Leafrazor, which, according to rumors, she took from, and used to kill, Vianna's elven mother.

Valetis Hardraven, the powerful mage-priest, a bald man with a honest smile, seems to be in the middle of a philosophical discussion with Hatris Farlock, a high priest of Pelor, and Jarnock Raul Bearathion, a tall and masculine man who is well known in the family as being one of the strongest bear fighters, while still keeping up with his high level education, as it is obvious from his ability to keep up with the two men he converses with. He also happens to be Noegle's cousin, being the oldest son of his father's older brother. When Noegle became a hunter, one of the things he heard from his family was that Jarnock would have done it years ago, if he didn't have his responsibilities to the family.

Yarlek Metalmind, wielder of the psionic and the martial, combining them into a new art of fighting that has rarely been seen before, stands to the side, content to observe the party rather than participate. He wears a suit of crystaline armor, known as Dendritic Armor, which is a suit of armor that growns on the wearer, instead of worn by him. While better than fullplate, they are also more constricting than a suit of fullplate, and the removing such a suit done by breaking out of it. Not a common choice, as the armor can't be refitted after creation.

Among the nobility, you notice a young woman in a plain dress, holding a tray of appetizers for the guests to pick from. Mouse fights the redness that threatens to overwhelm her face when she spots you, before she spins on her heels and heads to a different direction entirely.

Ovel laughs quietly as he turns around, glancing at who next he should call out. "Oh, the Blood Hunters are here too. That one-" He is cut short though, as a few jesters jump forward from the prince, surrounding you. "Oh" and "Ah!" they say in wonder as they frolic around you, herding you towards Prince Hornest.

"These are the fabled new Hunters of the Eye!" One of the jesters bows so low, his head might be under the actual floor. "Fresh, oh yes, straight from the oven!" He says, laughing oddly.

"Yes, yes." The prince waves the jester away as he turns from his lady friend and looks you over. "I can't say I haven't seen a more interesting collection..." He notes. "What did you bring?" He says, curious.

124 makes his way around you, and presents the gift. "Curious, to have one of your own clones be their servant." Hornest says as he takes the box.

"Guide, assistant. Not servant." The Eye corrects him with a smile.

"What's the difference?" Hornest asks with a frown.

"Semantics." The Eye says, his smile directed at 124 now, who merely bows.

"Oh, what is that?" The price says, excited, as he lifts what looks like a puppy from the box. A puppy made of metal.

"It's called an Effigy, my price." 124 says. "They are constructs made to resemble an animal, covered in real fake fur to be soft and everything, butthis one is special." The clone says, adopting the Eye's signature smile. "Not only is this one made to be intelligent, just like a real pup, but it is also made out of living metal. It will grow along with you, both in size, strength, and intelligence. In time, it could reach the size of a dire wolf even, though be stronger and smarter. Perhaps quite close to the perfect companion."

"This... Is awesome!" The prince says as he examines his new puppy, which begins to lick him. "I love it. Thank you!" The prince tells you, as 124 melds into the background, having done his part.

As she is introduced, Elariel enters, looking around at the riot of colors and expensive clothing. When she spots the warforged, she quietly asked Ovel about them, soon learning their rather unimaginative name, although their music was quite excellent. She slowly walks through the room, clearly looking around, noting the various members of the party, and trying to decide who might be most helpful to talk with. She notes the man in full plate, the high ranking priestess, and dismisses them.
They appear to serve the boy, which suggests that it would make more sense to speak with their master, but I am unsure if he can advance my goals. No, there are likely better choices.
At 124's introduction, Elariel frowns, slightly.
"A gift? Interesting. And I do apologize."
So there is more going on here than meets the eye. There seems to be a certain amount of competition here, and I have a suspicion that in combat, we would be on the short end of the stick. But the Eye knows this, and is trying to run a bluff? Or does he have other plans? His reputation doesn't support direct confrontation, so it seems likely, but for it to work, we will need to support him. It seems a way to avoid trouble.
Her thoughts are broken when Ovel points out the Helm Hunters, and Elariel considers what she knows of them.
"Interesting. The two female hunters have a rather dark reputation, although the remaining two have less of one. Be wary of the half elf, as she is known to use magic to compel, and it is possible she will seek to test us, or control us."
She continues to look around, noting Mouse's presence, but not remarking on it.
Interesting. It seems Mouse is collecting information as well. I wonder if it is for herself, or for others? Another of the Eye's?

She allows herself to be herded by the jesters, and she returns the prince's appraising look with one of her own. She chooses to remain silent, thinking that one of her allies might choose to speak.

As Seth is told the dangers these others hunters possess he makes a mental note to avoid the two sisters. He didn't like normal people in his head, didn't need those two snooping around. However he is distracted as he sees Mouse serving people as a waiter and watches as she swiftly seems to vanish. Going up to Ovel Seth whispers in the mans ear. I assume we are not allowed to talk to the waitress? Seth says not saying her name or anything that would make her stand out from the others.

As the gift is given Seth only bows his head to the child, knowing full and well that in a place like this words could get him killed.

Noegle deeply inhales the atmosphere. The gossiping, the plotting, the fast-talk, the game of power played by words! He felt a relaxation and a clearsight spreading, this was his world!

The moment lasted for far too short as he realised that he wasn't currently posing as Noegle Bearathion and even if he was he wouldn't have the same weight in his words as he used too. His damaged soul didn't help either.

Noegle is pleasantly suprised by the music. He had always wanted Heavy Metal to come play at the Castle Bear but his stiff father had found the music too "new-age".

"Thank you hundred-and-twenty-four!" He responds honestly before wondering how their employer knew, "was this prepared in case we came or did the Eye know?".

He looks at Ovel displeased, He's right you know. You really shouldn't point at social events. Before sending an apologizing gaze at the foreign hunter pack. He uses the moment to discretely study their body posture and equiptment. Moving his eyes away he asks his fellow hunters: "What do you think? Do they look tough?"

As he realises that his cousin is present he smoothly steps to the right and hides behind the biggest moving object he could find, Seth. Probably an unnecesary impulse but better to be safe..
Hearing Seth's whisper to Ovel he recalls episodes of nobles talking to servants and whispers back "You can but she has to be respectful"

*Insert something regarding Jesters*

He analyses the play between the Prince and the Eye. It reminded him of how one of his uncles used to act towards his oldest brother. Mild corrections, without any hint of arrogants. Appearently that strategy worked well at multiple occations.

Make a slight bow, he whispers between his lips as the Prince expressed his thanks. He makes a respectful bow and says with his unrecognizable voice: "We are delighted that the gifts falls in your liking, Prince Hornest. What do you name it?". He knows that he doesn't need to do anything here, the gift already make it's influence on it's own and all he had to do was not to screw things up and get out smoothly.

124 smiles at Noegle's question. "Yes." He says after a moment.

Inspecting the Helm Hunters, Noegle finds that they are playing in different leagues. The sisters are a bit harder to discern, but considering their company...

Ovel nods at Noegle's response to Seth. "Just try to not attract too much attention."

After asking his question, Noegle notices the Eye turning away, so that the prince doesn't see his displeased expression. The prince, on the other hand, smiles to Noegle. "What was it... Ah, Marcus Flint?" He asks, pausing. "Yes, how about Selv?" He asks, before shaking his head. "No, that is a ridiculous name."

"How about Sabo?" The Eye offers.

"Sabo?" Prince Hornest repeats, testing the name. "Yeah, it has a nice ring to it, don't you agree?" He asks, turning to his lady friend, who nods earnestly. "From now on, you'll be Sabo." With that declaration, it seems that you are dismissed.

With that over, Ovel points out the Blood Hunters.

They, unlike the Helm Hunters, seem to rather avoid the main bulk of the crowd. Ovel points each of them out to you, adding in a short tidbit.

Chornellia Plainswalker is a short, handsome woman, though not quite beautiful, is dancing with a noble who seems to be even shorter than herself. She wears a tame pale blue dress, one of the designs you saw outside, with a light green ribbon keeping her hair in a ponytail. Chornellia is a Worldspeaker, people who master language in order to gather stories and histories wherever they go, even from the stone itself.

Draghl the Storm Giant, though rather compressed at the time, standing only ten feet tall, has violet skin, hair and eyes, marking him as almost nobility among his race. He wears a tunic made of red dragonscales, a greatsword strapped openly to his back. The nobility does seem to give him space.

Falkir Nodderman, a halfling who's known for his skill at arcane magic, acrobatics and baffoonery, sits on the giant's shoulder, showering the crowd with magical glitter or playing other tricks with minor arcane magic, such as making noble clothes damp, or the wine they are drinking taste of cabbage.

Gardir the Animate, a balding elf who seems to be as emotionless as the plates that hover around him, offering their snacks to the man as he sits on the railing of the balcony, not far from Draghl's head. The man is a manipulator of the inanimate, giving the temporary spark of life to anything he wills it to, a master of constructs and an expert on machinery.

Unlike the Helm Hunters, while they do seem very strong, they don't seem as... Ominous, as the other foreign hunters.

Around some of the floating tables, that Gardir seems to have given life to while the prince demanded your attention, are gathered several groups of emissaries, sent from the surrounding regions in an attempt to get an appointment with the Eye, to forward trade agreements that are usually not possible.

124 explains that usually only Hunters and traders of the Eye can cross the region borders, but on special occasions, mainly those related to the royalty, high ranking people from other regions are allowed to join the event, under the guise of their connections to some member of the royal family or another. They actually come to further their own agendas, trying to slip in their people to the region or improving their relations with the trading companies to get better deals. Some try to get a contract so that they can get their own trade route going.

And then there are those who are trying to play for actual power, attempting to make alliances with the Sunguises. The drow live in caves that span under the Scaled and Sea regions. According to 124, they are currently at odds with a tribe of Yuan-Ti that made a move against the territories near them, above and underground. While the Yuan-Ti seem to be coming from the Sea region, neither the Sea nor the Scaled region seem to be interested in doing anything to control the Yuan-Ti. The drow seek aid from the nearby regions, which offers a rare opportunity to set hold within a foreign region.

The current plan for the evening is that after some dance and mingling, the birthday feast will commence, then there will be a grand show before the reveal of a special gift that the Blood Hunters have brought for the prince.

Noelge graps Elariel's arm as she is about to leave. Wait a second he says while gesturing to move closer to Seth. You two said that you were opposed undead creation right? Would hearing some good arguments perhaps change your oppinion? Every person here is either here because of his power or his work and some knows a lot about divine magic.
If they agree he'll drag them towards some holy person that looks like he's at a high position(or that he knows are in a high position). After pleasantries are exchanged he'll ask what his oppinion on undeads are and the whole "evil" idea it seems like both his companions share.

So the Eye keeps tabs on us.. I wonder if it's mind-reading or spying he thinks before making a mental facepalm. Ovel had been present...

Noegle doesn't fail to notice the Eye's displeasement. After leaving the prince he turns to 124, why did the Eye turn away? Was it the bow itself or something I said?

Because the soul is gone. He's not there anymore. Chances that he's gonna use the body again is close to non-existant and even if he does he can just have it back.

124 considers for a moment. "It's not your fault, the displeasure was regarding the prince. The prince didn't pay you much attention until you spoke, but then he was... Informed, of your real identity. The prince likes knowing secrets. It makes him feel adult and in power. The problem is, that Prince Hornest isn't good at actually keeping those secrets."

Doesn't the Eye love knowing other people's secrets as well? Noegle asks not entirely comprehending the displeasure. Don't worry about the secret slipping. I wouldn't have drawn attention to myself if the gift hadn't fallen in the Prince taste this much. Bearathion upbringing involves learning the tendencies of our potential next king and I'm guessing that his joy for the gift combined with him knowing that I know that he knows will overshadow his wish for revealing my secret, at least a couple of hours.

As Ovel tells him not to attract to much attention to Mouse he decides it better to not go talk to her, he could explain to her after the party when they saw each other again why. And if anyone started anything at the party with her well the rules didn't matter much as she was one of the few people in this room who had shown him kindness since he had arrived in this city that seemed to have forgotten how to live off of its mother, instead relying on buildings made of stone higher then he could see, and many people seeming to look down on others because of where they came from. However if it were not for the people they looked down on the dirty jobs in the city would never get done Seth had observed with Mouse and Leeon away all this time he had much free time.

With being dismissed from the prince Seth listen's to Ovel explain about the blood hunters. At least these ones he felt he could mingle with. Especially Chornellia Plainswalker who he could no doubt trade stories with as well as Draghl the Storm Giant who seemed to get the same reaction from people as he himself did in this strange world they had to play a part of at the moment. Noegle your views are your views, and you have a right to them just as much as I have a right to mine correct? If so then if you don't mind I am going to go and try to learn. You look beautiful tonight, I would spend time with you. But have been advised against it, please don't be upset. Talking to Blood hunters. Seth says as he finishes the spell and makes it to within earshot of the woman and begins to sing poetry in his native tongue hoping it would grab her attention to come over.

Finding a priest at the ball isn't hard, and you introuce yourselves to Regal Anders. After exchanging pleasantries you present your conundrum.

"Well, putting aside the church's regard to the creation of undead, respect is a construct of society. While some, as your friend, would say that a body must be respected, others would not agree. The soul has departed, and few have the resources to return to the world of the living. The soul has left for another plane, to enjoy or suffer from the consequences of its life. We, on the other hand, are left behind to continue and find our path. While it may be most respectful to learn the rituals of each enemy you defeat and treat their bodies according to the traditions of their culture, realistically, you aren't going to do that. Is it more respectful to burn their bodies, bury them, leave them lying on the ground where they died, or animate them as undead to be used as your pawns? None of these options is more right than the others. Take a tribe of orcs in the region of Iron that I've read about. For them, the highest honor is to wield the weapons of their greatest warriors. To see an outsider carry it instead of one of their own is a dire insult, but for that same foe to use the bodies of their fallen to wage war? They would not care. Taken even a step further, many cultures in the region of Coin treat wastefulness almost like a sin. If you kill one of their own and have the ability to raise him as an undead, but you choose not to? That's one of the greatest displays of disrespect they can imagine."

"Your enemies wish you harm in life, a wish you aren't likely to respect. They are unlikely to wish you to use their bodies to fight their allies, right? But what is the point of respect if you only offer it posthumously?" Regal asks. "If you can prevent greater harm done to those you care about, is it really right to care for a dead foe more than a living friend? Sure, the situation isn't always on either extreme, but the point still stands." The priest shrugs. "The dead are gone to experience a different existence. Their cage of flesh is hardly an interest for them. Only those still living care about it. I believe that if you feel any action regarding the dead is disrespectful, it's disrespectful to you, not to them. Being offended on behalf of someone else isn't a noble behavior, but a vain one."

As Seth sings, Chornellia looks at him curiously. She slowly walks towards him, taking her time. "An interesting approach." She comments. "Straightforward, yet elusive. I find it curious that your kind would call your minstrels by the name of a singing abomination with the capacity to manipulate the earth."

Archmage1
2015-03-03, 07:10 AM
Elariel thinks on this, but she nods.
"Perhaps, but having no respect for others is a problem. When you don't know their culture, I've always felt that showing them respect isn't a bad thing."

Sliver
2015-03-03, 07:54 AM
Regal considers the words. "It doesn't show respect to apply the teachings of your culture to one who does not share it. When a subject has so many varying approaches and opinions, applying yours is rarely seen as considerate, though often is insulting. What is your approach to dealing with the bodies of dead foes? Because here's the thing regarding undead: You can still perform most burial rituals, cleansing the body isn't that difficult. You can still bury the remains, or burn them, or send them into the sea, or any other ritual that is required. But anything else? It usually complicates the matter, unless you are simply leaving the bodies behind to rot, which isn't a display of respect either. In the end, you do what is right by you, not by the mysterious culture of whoever you end up at odds with. If you later wish to make amends? Performing your own rites is rarely the way."

Archmage1
2015-03-03, 08:00 AM
Elariel continues to think, but she shakes her head.
"I still don't see how showing respect for your enemies is going to make things worse. It would be far worse to not even respect your own culture. True, it is possible that you might not know precisely how they would like to be treated, but I still feel that it is better to try, and to fail, than to not try at all. Traditionally, my people are left to the sand after death, unless they are exposed to disease, or we have a surplus of wood, in which case a funeral pyre is used. Cleansing the body of an undead would necessitate making it not undead, as otherwise, the holy water would burn it."

Sliver
2015-03-03, 08:06 AM
Regal looks at Elariel, amused. "You clearly haven't interacted with foreign culture if you can't imagine how applying your own to theirs can be offensive. Nor does it seem like you are experienced enough in what other cultures would find worse than failing at respecting their ways by performing your own rituals, so I would avoid making such statements. Makes you sound very ignorant. Your remark regarding them stopping being undead is very astute. I thought that the implication was quite obvious, but I guess some need to speak it aloud to understand. In my experience, leaving a body to rot is what most cultures would find showing no respect."

Archmage1
2015-03-03, 08:22 AM
Elariel just looks right back.
"So you feel that it is better to simply give up? To not even try? I'm not suggesting following the full rites of burial or anything, just showing them basic respect. You know, not desecrating their body, that sort of thing. Nothing major. But you are arguing that it is far better to simply do nothing? Which still doesn't address the basic question here: Is it wrong to reanimate the fallen without their permission? Or is it something you approve of?"

Sliver
2015-03-03, 09:00 AM
The priest sighs. "What I have been saying, is that there is no inherent disrespect in reanimation. Some are opposed to it, but that's the nature of people. Darkness opposes light, but that doesn't make either side inherently good or evil, does it? Your entire argument depends on what is respect, which you refuse to realize is a matter of perspective. What you think is respectful, another might disagree. Many would, actually. That's what I'm trying to explain to you. So no, I wholeheartedly disagree that you doing something without knowing if the recipient wants or not, under the assumption that it is respectful to them and not you, is better than doing what is actually effective. Your opinion is just that, and claiming that others share it or trying to force it regardless of the circumstances is selfish."

"The other point that I have already brought up, which you don't seem to understand, is that you can still perform the rights of burial, even if the body has been an undead at some point. If you leave the body to rot, or burn it, or bury it? Not really. But the undead can come with you, and if you find those who share the culture of the one you fell, and you are so inclined, you can destroy the undead and perform the rituals. As for your question, I have already addressed it. Those who passed on aren't going to return. Their opinion on the matters of our plane? They aren't as important as you try to make them be."

"Now, if you simply intend to repeat yourself once more, am I dismissed? I feel that if you had actually an argument worth saying, you would have said it by now, instead of repeating your opinion as if a different wording might confuse me so I end up agreeing with you. Honestly, I heard all of the arguments before, from people far wiser in the ways of the world than you are, and who are far more eloquent, too. Hearing you is rather tiring..." Regal says, picking up a glass of wine from a passing waiter.

Archmage1
2015-03-03, 09:17 AM
Elariel nods, agreeing with the priest's initial statements, before she shakes her head firmly.
"I can understand that, but what I don't see is how my being disrespectful is any better. You say that it is better to raise the dead, and take them with you, but you don't seem to adhere to that philosophy yourself. You, as far as I can tell, are arguing that if you don't know, it is better to disrespect the dead, since you don't know how they would like to be respected. Am I understanding you correctly? Wouldn't the better procedure be to leave them alone? Except that is being disrespectful in many cultures as well? An argument centered around a problem without a solution is not a good argument."

Regal raises an eyebrow. "So you are saying that if you don't know if your method or someone else's method is better, you should go with yours? What I am saying is that if you don't know what is and what isn't respectful, you do what you think is best, what you are okay with. It can be what is effective, it can be to simply leave it alone. But whatever you choose to do, don't pretend that you do it for someone else. The dead don't care, but you do."

Sliver
2015-03-03, 10:21 AM
"What's the difference?" Regal repeats, now looking very amused. "Are you even trying? The difference is, that if you are aware that you are doing it for yourself, you aren't pretending to have the moral high-ground. You are aware that other opinions are as valid, and you aren't forcing your position, or act as though whoever is disagreeing with you is wrong. There is exactly one way to respect the dead, and that depends on their culture. Anything besides that, you are doing to feel better about yourself. If you feel that leaving the body alone is the best you can do, then so be it. But if someone wants to reanimate the body? That has nothing to do with you."

Archmage1
2015-03-03, 10:36 AM
Elariel shakes her head.
"That isn't consistent with your previous arguments. You said that it was best to treat them as you would treat them, but don't assume you are always right. That's fine, but in allowing someone else to reanimate the body, something which I believe is wrong, I would not be treating them as I would treat them. You can't have it both ways. Moral high ground is irrelevant in this case. If other opinions are as valid, and if someone else believes it is perfectly valid to reanimate them, why should their opinion be more important than my own?"

2015-03-03, 10:45 AM
"I grow tired of this, child. Do I need to explain to you the difference between your actions and those of another? Or do you think that you have the right to force others your opinion? If you feel it wrong, don't do it. Raising the dead is not evil, so you have no right to prevent others from doing it. There is nothing more to it. There is no law that dictates that not touching a body is more or less respectful than raising it. It's a personal choice, so keep it that way."

Archmage1
2015-03-03, 10:51 AM
Elariel shakes her head again.
"But that's just it. If a necromancer were to raise someone who didn't agree, he would be forcing me to abide by his opinion. Which, by your argument, is just as wrong. It is a personal choice, but it does affect others. For example, if I come from a culture which sacrifices people to talk to the gods, and I hear someone appealing to the gods, so I sacrifice them, to help them, is that any different from what you are proposing? A personal choice is one that doesn't affect others, but pretty much everything you do affects others. Which makes it a choice. And a choice which affects others, which means that they should have a say in it, and denying them that say? I would call that wrong."

"Why? Acting is not inherently superior to doing nothing. The benefit is a mindless servant which is going to be extremely smelly in a short order, which doesn't seem, to me, to be any better than just moving on. Again, I'll present an example in which your opinion is clearly wrong. Suppose you have access to someone else's wealth. Is it right to donate that wealth to an orphanage? By your argument, it is, for doing something beneficial, as in, donating to the orphanage, is superior to not donating. But it isn't your money to take, and use, as you please."

Your example is ridiculous. So either my earlier assertion was correct, and you are indeed, not trying, or you have no common sense. If you think that stealing from a living human has the same ambiguous moral standings as animating a body of someone you just killed, you have serious issues, lady. I think we are done here."

Having a corpse helping us would have increased our chances in the fight and might have allowed us to not repeat the failure. Correct me if I'm wrong but that is the reason that we take the equiptment from our enemies, to become more powerful and less likely to fail.

"They might choose to become enemies again, if they are raised, or if they escape, but that would be their choice. A poor one, I would think, but still, a choice."

Ellyrion was sitting at the edge of the ball room, hidden in a cloak of shadows. It was not as much as he did not deisred interaction, more the fact the last time he did so he fumbled up Armade's mission, and the time before that he almost killed his sister. At least his same colored tuxedo matched his cloak. He smiled softly as he saw his companions on a hot debate over the morality of necromancy and their standard method of action. Ellie would never stop suprising him with her eagerness for debate, despite the mostly bad consequences after that.

Excuse me sir a voice cold as a glacier was heard behind. Turning around, he saw....what would be described as an aobsidian skinned elf, with crimson eyes and long, white hair flowing over her shoulders. She did not wore a dress as the rest, only lights sliver armo (that was quite scandalous by Ellyrion's standards) and a flowing cloak made from red, soft silk. Is this pathetic flying rat yours ? She asks in the most insulting way possible, as she reveals Skrat in her hand, held tight by the beak from her black gloves I found this little thief stalking me, and he attempted to stal my earrings! .

They were really shiny and sparkly Skrat eked out , struggling to speak from the Drow's grasp

[You are lucky you are not on my city, hunter, I would have you flayed alive for this . Insulting a matron like -

Excuse me. Ellyrion says softly, in the most honest and diplomatic way he could manage Don't you believe you are overreacting a little bit ?

And you are pretty rude Ellyrion replies in the smae manner as begore, simple and clear I apologize for the acts of my familiar , vut this is not reason for you to talk in such a manner. You should watch your tongue over others. I do not know where you hail from or what position you are, but such sudden and needless rudeness hardly flatter you.

Eyes coloring with rage , the matron attmpted to slap Ellyrion , only for him to react by grabbing her hand My my my... you are quite strong willed for a male She said as he let go, smiling I' like that, we'll keep in touch, hunter. She trailed off, with a dumpstruck Ellyrion trying to figure out what happened.

Noegle considers him words but in the process of imagining how Elariel would react to any carefully phrased arguments he is drained so much of energy that he instead doesn't answer. Probably an after-effect of the fight he tries to convince himself.

He'll walk around, keeping an eye on the other three hunters and try to step in if it seems like they are messing things up too severely. What he would really like to do is to mingle, get an update on the good gossip and figure out who is plotting against who, however since he knows that the participants here is so powerful some of them will see through his disguise if they bother looking closely and he'd rather not get adressed as Noegle.

As Ms. Chornellia moves towards him curiously he slowly walks to meet her, seeing that she had accepted his invitation to talk, as well as living up to her title of worldspeaker. A test Lady Chornellia, after all I had heard you knew many tongues and wondered if you had encountered my people outside this land before. Seth says with a kind smile continuing on in his native tongue that he had not been able to use since he had left his tribe. As for calling themselves singing abominations, what one sees as an abomination is simply a failed experiment made by those who wish to create something. Having faced one of these creatures however I can say the name is fitting as the songs they sing are beautiful beyond belief, however they are as cold and unmoving as the stone around them. Seth says kindly. I hope I did not intrude, however functions like these are....odd, and so I went for something I could relate to. The things playing music are interesting however distracting them I fear would have a bad outcome. And your friend seems preoccupied at the moment. Seth says pointing to the giant and the halfling. And so I wished to speak with the only other person I saw able to relate to, I hope you do not find this rude. Seth says to her, having not done functions like this for all he knew he could have already made a thousand mistakes and not even known, then again he was doing better then Noegle who seemed to have brought another argument about.

Seth

Chornellia laughs. "You, testing me? Oh, how I miss those days as a young huntress, thinking myself being on top." She chuckles. "I'm not carrying the title of a Worldspeaker for nothing, young Stonesinger. you speak of the songs of Stone, but have you ever listened?" She asks, moving around Seth with the grace of a a woman long trained in the ways of courtly intrigue and experience that doesn't show on her, slowly swaying her hips back and forth. "Of course, rudeness is expected in these functions, especially from a hunter. How else can you begin to form the necessary ties?" She asks, picking up a glass of wine from the passing Mouse. "The Goliath place more importance in their stories than most tribal races I have encountered so far, don't you agree? It is intriguing how their spiritual connections manifest in those closest to their ancestors, those who carry their history in their very blood. You're an Eye Goliath, but have you met a Blood Goliath? It is among their tribe that I learned of a fascinating ritual, one that allows a Singer to bridge the gap between themselves and their very ancestors, allowing you to recall nearly forgotten tales with uncanny clarity. Can you imagine the potential, to have your people's stories accessible to your mind just as your blood is to your body, instead of being muddled with the passage of time and countless retelling?"

Elariel

Managing to slip herself into a group of gossiping noblewomen, Elariel overhears a lot of stories about who is sleeping with what and other stuff that are so fluffy that they escape her mind almost as fast as the words escaped from the lips of the talking women. However, two things don't escape her.

The women talk in hushed tones when they start talking about the gift that the Blood Hunters have brought, but have yet to reveal. One of the nobles says that she has a distant, of course, cousin that works for the Bronzesetters and when the Hunters brought their gift the day before, a large covered box or a cage, one of the servants sneaked a peek when the Hunters weren't around. They had to rush the poor man to the priest because he was blinded! But he says he'll never forget the beautiful elven woman that he saw in that cage. The Blood Hunters are giving the prince a slave for his birthday!

The second thing is rumors regarding a gnome clan from the Iron region, calling themselves the Cracktop Tinkerers. They say that the gnomes found a way to incorporate special martial tomes to golems and other constructs, teaching these monstrosities powerful techniques so that their fighting relies on efficiency instead of pure brute force, making already dangerous creations even more terrifying. That fact leaves many people, not only those in the Iron region, worried regarding the intentions of the gnomes.

Noegle

Noegle tries to keep watch on the other three, but with Elyrion's new found shadow connections, it is hard to keep an eye on him. Too late, Noegle notices that he seems to be interacting with one of the Drow ambassadors, and the conversation doesn't seem to be held in friendly tones, with Elyrion's white pigeon flying about. She leaves him, but if Noegle wishes, he could interpose and try to find out what went there, perhaps smooth things over with the Drow.

Regardless, Noegle picks a few tidbits while walking about and watching, one of which catches his attention more than the others.

One rumor regards Jarnock, Noegle's cousin, is betrothed to Karra Bronzesetter, the eldest daughter of the Bronzesetter's main branch, which also conveniently lost their only son in an unfortunate event that nobody really knows the details of. The arrangement puts Jarnock as the legal hair of the Bronzesetter estate, and the second in line, after his father, to the Bearathion estate. He could end up as one of the most influential people in the city, which may not be a very fortunate eventuality for Noegle, considering the view of Jarnock regarding his lesser breed cousin.

Foolish women... there are far more important things than personal choices. But perhaps they are trained to not see that.

As she hears about the Blood Hunter's gift, she thinks.
So they have a slave, and they are planning on selling her? That is wrong, very wrong. But I am uncertain of our ability to intervene. Where did they get this woman? And how does she blind on sight? And if she does, do they intend on preventing everyone from being blinded when they reveal her? Caution seems to be advisable.
She seems worried.

Finally, as she hears about the cracktop tinkerers, she seems appreciative.
Interesting. I wonder how they go about doing it? It seems to be a major improvement on constructs, which is very interesting. I wonder if they would be willing to offer the knowledge? And how they developed it? Certainly worth looking into.

Elariel continues wandering, noting that no one seemed to be interested in talking to her, which was fine, as she was learning quite a bit.

You are mistaken Ms.Chornellia, while I was testing you I do not think myself on the top of this so called organization at all. I am here because it benefits my people for me to be so. If that makes you believe you think me arrogant enough to think I am the best then that is your opinion. Seth says keeping his voice level, as if she was neither above nor below him as she danced around him, clearly more fit to dealing with nobility then he. I try and listen to all the songs of the world if that is what you ask, though like a mountain I do not move for them. Seth says not stopping her from dancing however not participating himself in the affair. Listening to her talk about needing to be rude to make ties however seemed odd to him and he was about to comment when Mouse appeared and the woman took a drink from her. Seth not bothering to take the drink that smelled like a yak's piss. If one must be rude to make ties with people, then perhaps they are speaking with the wrong people. For only those who are rude themselves and seek personal gain would seek out those like themselves, whether as a competitor, or as a test of their own abilities to prove themselves to no one but themselves. Seth explains, his eyes following Mouse for a moment before looking around the rest of the ballroom.

Seth is caught off guard when the woman speaks of the goliaths of the blood region who seemed able to connect to their past lives almost as well as their ancestors. Sometimes stories are just that Ms Chornellia and when they are watered down it is to give more importance to the lesson learned then what happened. I think the ritual no doubt must cost a high price on the one who goes threw it as one would be accepting their ancestors direct access into their minds and souls, at least if you wanted the original story or the first song. Seth says to her showing that he was intrested in the topic, but also that he doubted it came without a heavy risk to the user.

If you ever wish to discuss such things in more detail I would always be willing. However to blindly agree to a ritual seems foolish, I am sorry if you find that insulting however you are a hunter from another place. A certain amount of caution must always be taken when dealing with those you do not know or understand their motives.

If there's any more RPing you want to do before my post, you can continue at the other thread.

The dancing and mingling continues for some time before the music slows down and a man asks for the people to make their way outside, to the gardens. The crowd makes its way through the indicated doors, many groups are slow to bring their gossiping to an end.

On top of a large paved floor are set many tables, ready for food and men to make use of. The trees here grow and curl in unique ways, creating giant living statues of leaves and bark. Shrubs and bushes of roses, alstroemerias, and hibiscus fill the evening air with sweet scent, and each of the tables has a small vase with the flowers resting there at its center. The rest of the Bronzesetter Estate towers the garden on all four sides, with large painted glass windows with windows depicting the great outdoors, indoors.

Prince Hornest, his two companions, his young lady friend and several nobles, including the old C'hlaus Bronzesetter, the head of his house, and the Eye, take their place at a raised table.

The other tables begin to be filled, with the Blood Hunters and two of the Helm Hunters taking seats at a table near the Prince's, where they attract a lot of attention. The two sisters of the Helm Hunters take a seat at another table nearby, laughing and teasing several young noblemen. There is enough room for you and several more people with the other hunters, or you could join some group of nobles. There are also smaller tables that you could pick out and sit by yourselves, if you wish. Or spread out!

A small, young man bumps into Seth on his way out, looking very lost and bemused. His orange hair with black stripes looks odd with his rather dark skin, and he wears a suit of dark blue and white that seems to be a bit too tight on him. "Oh, sorry Seth, didn't see you there." Instict kicks in as his hand was already on his blade as it begins to pull it from his back only to see a child was the culprit. Leeon? Seth says more to himself then the boy, as he watches him run off. Its not like he had any money on him so at least he didn't need to worry about being robbed.

Relaxing the grip on his blade he finishes his walk to the table where the other hunters were and smiles kindly as he looks at a seat near the two sisters he had hoped to avoid, however he had to stay close to the first as well as the prince. Is this seat open? Seth asks them as he looks at a seat at the table.

She says, ignoring the awkwardness that befalls the nobles sitting around the table.

"Hush, Charlotte." Vianna says with a dismissive hand. "You say that because you have no taste for court. If they had no depth, their knives would fail to sink in when they stab each other in the backs. Their plots hinge on that." She smiles at the nobles, who seem to relax at her words, as blunt as they may be.

Charlotte rolls her eyes, but Vianna turns back to Seth and continues. "You know, you shouldn't believe all the rumors..." She says.

"Though they are often true." Charlotte adds.

"Well, based on the truth, at least." Vianna corrects.

"Of course. It's always possible to behave, but, then, it would be really boring if you always did, and since being bored leads to misbehavior, and behaving leads to boredom..."
She lets her voice trail off suggestively, clearly thinking that line of thought was easily completed.

After a few moments, she tries to start up a conversation.
"Have you done anything interesting lately? We've spend the last couple of weeks reading some books on lore, which, while interesting, are also very time consuming."

Bravery has nothing to do with it Ms.Vianna, this is a chair and we all need to sit. Should one be afraid of being poisoned by their company it would be better for them to run them threw with their weapon of choice then sit at a table with them. Seth says kindly to her as he takes a seat and looks to the other sister. Ms. Charlotte I believe, I am honored you would find me interesting. Most in this city give me a wide berth so I can understand the dilemma. They only enjoy watching me when I am in the rings. As for them being enjoyable, I have only spoken to one person so far before the two of you. And she seemed to have much depth. He says kindly to the two sisters with a smile as he sits down comfortably.

As the two sisters begin ranting Seth sits and waits patiently for them to finish before speaking up. To judge a person on anothers encounter is both foolish and wasteful. One person could hate someone simply for being better looking then they are, having something the other wants. I have learned in these "civilized" places that anyone different is looked at as a threat. From what I have heard so far about the two of you though, and what I have seen I can honestly admit I much rather enjoy the face then the whisper. Seth says with an amused look on his face, while these two may have been all powerful, they were blunt and honest. Something he enjoyed in people, word play was not his thing. His tribe was almost always honest with each other and as such he had learned only to intimidate things that wished his people harm. Some would call him blunt, but he would call it honesty. In my tribe we have a saying, even a chunk of coal can hide a diamond underneath. And from what I have been told about hags neither of you fit the picture, even by my peoples standards.

Draghl laughs. "Not what I meant, little lady. Explain to her, Chornellia." He says, waving a hand at his companion.

The bard shakes her head. "Do it yourself, I've tired of you a long time ago."

"Bah, come now- Ow! You stay out of it!" The giant says, shoving away at the attacking silverware that is quick to scurry away like tiny bugs, as he is left growling at the laughing Gardir.

"If I may," Valetis starts politely. "What I think Draghl means is that you always behave in some fashion. Others may say that that you behave poorly, or misbehave, but you are behaving. Not behaving at all would be more akin to not existing altogether. Thus, telling someone to behave would mean nothing, at least under this distinction."

Draghl laughs. "This one gets it! Who do I talk to so we trade? Your group can have Chornellia.'

"Oh, I couldn't leave Yarlek alone with three women.' Valetis replies with a smile. "He'd be completely lost."

Yarlek's face is completely blank at that.

"You should talk a bit less, or I might reconsider my interest." Charlotte tells Seth.

"Char..." Vianna says, a bit of venom in her voice.

"What? He's almost as bad a philosopher as those nobles, except he makes you feel like your attempt at humor is a complete waste!" She says, defensively.

"Hush, child." Vianna says, turning back to Seth. "You don't really understand how nobility thinks and works, do you?" She muses. "Would you like to learn?"

"Vianna!" Charlotte looks shocked.

"Valetis has said that he wants us to improve our relations and perhaps find allies in foreign regions." Vianna explains. "Why not this one?"

"Well, from the brief speech he delivered a moment ago, I find him rather unpleasant."

"If we were to reject anyone unpleasant, you would have been dead a long time ago." Vianna says dryly.

"I still think he should talk less..." Charlotte scoffs.

"And so should you."

Elariel laughs, as the combination of attacking silverware, the description of behavior, and the trading prove to be too much for her ability to keep a straight face. After her musical laughter comes to an end, she begins talking again, with an edge of humor to her voice.
"Well, with the right magic, we could help him fit in a bit better. Maybe it might help him find out? But behavior... it's all in the eye of the observer. So the only person who's really behaving is the fellow you've never seen. Unless, of course, you consider staying out of sight not behaving, in which case you're just out of luck. It's like arguing about what's the best sort of armor, or the best type of weapon."

As the two sisters start to go back and forth Seth looks confused at the two of them before speaking to Charlotte. I was not aware you were joking, I am sorry but as I am sure you can tell I am not used to being around other cultures. Seth says hoping she would understand, thankfully he is happy to hear Vianna understood. That would be much appreciated Ms. Vianna, I seem to be insulting people without even knowing how here. Where I come from things are much different then here. And I am finding it very hard to incorporate what my friends here are trying to teach me with what I have already been taught. I think the saying is you can not fill a cup that is already full. Seth says to the two sisters hoping that they would understand.

Ellyrion shrugged at Noegle's suggestion for punishment "Crows are crows, regardless of intelligence, and will keep being crows. Punishing him for being interested in shiny things would solve nothing. Kind of reminds of your debates with my sister actually. THat being said, i assume you do know Skrat that a scroll of sending is dirt cheap, and i could contact a lot of people that might be interested in your current position. Behave yourself, if you please"

"S-sure thing boss. No more messing around i promise" THe white raven stutters terrified.

As he sat down on the table, he was rather surprised (and terrified) to see that while watching the conversation between the hunters: The drow matron from before . She seemed to be ignoring him for the moment, talking to her escorts in her native tongue. THen, she smiled wolfish at him as she momentarily looked at his direction on the left. To say he was in distress would be too little. Ellyrion had currently an anxiety attack over how to handle this without accidentally starting a diplomatic scandal .

Noegle takes a quick trip to the bathroom before comming back.
Using wild shape to take the same shape now that alter shape is running out. It's the last wild shape of the day so I don't hope that we'll be in combat.

To Ellyrion and familiar: Noegle frowns at his casual rejection to his proposal and says with a thoughtful look, I probably should have gone over the basics before we came here. He smiles at the joke about the man's sister but stays serious. Listen, both of you. Stealing from nobles are unacceptable! I'm not exaggerating when I say that there are people here who would skin you alive for less severe insults. I don't know that drow but if she's anything like the ones from Duskdale chances are that the only reason she didn't have you killed right away is that she's considering creative ways of revenge. He then turns to Skrat, It's good to hear that you'll behave better in the future but you may already have killed your master. Tell me exactly what happened so that I have a chance to maybe lessen the damage.

-----

As they are called outside Noegle automatically walks towards the noble table but on the third step he realises that that isn't his place anymore. For a moment a sad expression appears on his face before it's swiftly supressed. He takes a seat near Seth, takes a look at the empty table(or empty plate) in front of him and looks slightly bored.

"A broken cup is never full." Charlotte says, her expression blank, her hand resting on the hilt of her sword.

Those are two different tables. The Blood Hunters are the ones with the blinding slave, which is a rumor Elariel heard, not Noegle, while Seth sits with the two Helm half-sisters. You can't join both conversations at the same time.

I don't think that Noegle's focus was so keen on each of the conversations that he would hear a rumor passed in hushed tones yet still not know the exact words of the drow-Ellyrion exchange that was far more noticeable and attracted his attention.

Also, with the negative levels, this wild shape lasts 3 hours, right? Just making sure. 3 hours is plenty to be among the earlier retires, but not quite first, though a lot of folk stay a bit more, and a few even longer than that, depending on their relations with the Bronzesetters.

As Charlotte talks about a broken cup he watches as her hand reaches for his blade. On instinct he begins to reach for his own when he looks to her sister. Ms. Vianna I hope you can explain what I am supposed to do hear. In my tribe tossing around jibes at each other is considered good spirit, however placing ones hand on their blade means that they are either a traitor, or think you are a traitor. Either way if you do not move fast you are dead. Seth says as he tries to pull his hand down away from his own blade and put it back on the table.

Vianna nods at first, but looks confused as Seth continues. Charlotte is the one to voice the confusion. "That seems like stupid on many levels. If you are a traitor unsuspected, what gain is there in openly revealing it? If you suspect a traitor, why would you make your suspicions known? By putting a person on the defensive, his behavior will change either way, and you will learn nothing more!"

"What kind of traitor does one incur in a tribe?" Vianna asks. "Regardless, this makes little sense. Vianna has no bonds to you to speak of, so neither you nor her can betray each other. Placing a hand on one's sword is generally a taunt or a challenge. If one is prideful, he might answer it with a call to duel. If one is prideful and stupid, he will answer straight away. Between friends, it can also be a simple gesture, similar to a light punch on the chest among companions. How you respond to it is a measure of who you are. Did the words that triggered your response warrant your actions? Was your honor put into question? Was it in jest, and you took it too far, making a fool of yourself? Or was the person trying to test your mettle, and refusing to answer the challenge is worse than failing? In some places, this is how one courts a lady, or how a lady flirts." Vianna adds lightly, smiling at her younger sister.

"Enough with that!" Charlotte scoffs. "I hate when you analyze things so, especially when you do it at me. And that whole bit at the end was entirely unnecessary. I would never try to court that oaf!"

"Is that because his eyes are set on another?" Vianna teases.

"As if I would lose to a girl like that." Charlotte rebuttals. "If I cared..." She adds quickly, unable to defend herself from both insults equally quickly.

The platters begin to leave the kitchen and head towards the prince's table, while the serving girls walk to the tables and ask for personal preferences. It seems that with the varied crowd attending, the Bronzesetter house tries to cater to the guest's taste instead of throwing everything at you at the hopes that something hits the mark.

Seth notices that Mouse is among those, walking towards the other hunter table. Whatever words they exchange, they are too far from you to be privy to. Vianna looks at the other table with interest, while another waiting woman asks for what dishes the noblemen at your table would enjoy, moving down the table. They seem to be asking for the more fashionable, rather than practical, dishes. Things that were sunken in scented juices and rubbed with rose leaves and had been slammed against countless spices and flavors that one would consider it a torture to the poor meal.

"That one is interesting, don't you think?" Vianna asks, gesturing at Mouse. "She is clearly skilled at what she does, but this scene is wrong for her. She moves with too much purpose, her expression too keen and aware. A servant is supposed to be background, but she doesn't put that delicate touch in her act. It would usually be enough, as servants are practically invisible to nobility, but her lack of experience with competent hunters betrays her."

"So she's that Mouse girl, the Eye's favorite?" Charlotte asks.

Vianna nods. "It's unfortunate, really. I doubt there is any reason for her to be here other than that gift we heard of, that the Blood Hunters brought. She'll be their prime suspect, and that brother of hers. I don't like the blood hunters, and I'm sure they would make her feel the same, if anything this evening were to go wrong."

"It's as if she isn't aware of her social stature." Charlotte adds.

"Yes and no. I doubt she'll ever forget, but sometimes people try to pretend. Being the black sheep of nobility makes her as much the target of gossip as being the prodigious son, but she seems blind to that." Vianna says simply. "As if people wouldn't talk. And then keep company of a fresh hunter when the Eye hasn't recruited a group in years? Who wouldn't hear that Seth and Mouse has been strolling through town, her showing him the sights and fighting arenas. The same woman who Seth's eyes keep trying to devour during this evening, calling her attention. If you are looking for a traitor who reaches for his blade, perhaps your heart is to blame." She laughs teasingly, turning to Marcus Flint.

"You too, should learn to use your head better." She says, a thin smile coming to her lips. "Marcus Flint, the Eye Hunter? Really? Do you think the entire town doesn't know and gossip about the novice Hunters that their precious Eye recruited? Everybody in the Bearathion speak of the odd little Noegle, the one who stands different and unique, joining under the Eye's banner yet oddly missing from this event, to be replaced by an unknown Marcus, a man none has heard of yet walks together with the same group that Noegle has joined. A man who walks about with the swagger of a man of court, while his companions shift with unease, awkwardly mingling with whoever will take them under their wing? Literal wing, in the case of a white one accompanied with the dark one. I'd never take a talking familiar, those things get obnoxious when others are able to understand them."

"Excuse me?" The waiter asks, having reached you. "We have a wide selection of food and drink. The Helm Hunters has gifted us with rare wine, which is a must to at least taste of, but we also have a wide variety of ales, wines and other liquors and juices. The kitchens are ready and eager to prepare your food, with meats and other main and side dishes. If you will make your preference known, we will be most glad to accommodate." As he says so, the table begins to be filled with breads, spiced, with fruits or vegetables, with fried beans filling or steaming meat, and cheeses, for you to snack on. "The wait is very short." The man promises with a keen smile.

Mouse seems to have been assigned to wait on you, and she manages to approach you with steady steps, disguising her discomfort with the prospect of serving you food. You traveled together, and even if she was just your driver at the time, there was something wrong with this situation, in her eyes.

Chornellia's eyes never leave Mouse as she approaches, and she speaks to the young woman before Mouse has managed to let the words of greeting out of her mouth.

"What are you doing here?" Chornellia asks bluntly.

Mouse manages to keep her composure. "Why, I'm here to ask what you-"

"Cut it out, girl. You'll serve us whatever you will, and you will serve it well, because you have an act to keep up. That's not what this is about and you know it."

"My lady?" Mouse asks, managing to sound puzzled.

"You are one of his." She nearly spits the words. The sudden change in the Worldspeaker's demeanor doesn't seem to be a surprise to her companions, but the Helm Hunters do seem uncomfortable at the sudden change. "What are you trying to achieve?"

"I'm not trying to ach-" Mouse starts, but Chornellia cuts her off.

"Fine, I get it. Stubborn little thing, aren't you? But don't think this is over. If anything is amiss..." The bard hisses before turning to her companions. "Gardir, send something to check on our gift." She commands, to which the elf nods quietly before a spider-like construct with a monkey torso crawls out of robes and scurries away.

"Off you go." Chornellia waves at Mouse dismissively, expecting it the end of the encounter.

Mouse, however, turns to the rest of you, letting the Worldspeaker glower silently. The Helm Hunters order quietly and respectfully, asking for simple dishes of meat and vegetables, with some spiced wine to accompany their own.

"Oh, indeed, I almost forgot!" Mouse exclaims as she turns to the two of you. "The Helm Hunters have been most generous and gifted us with some very special wine. Regardless of what you want to eat and drink, you'll get a cup of that too. Lord Bronzesetter will likely explain further, so I can't really steal that honor from him. So, what can I get you?" She asks with a smile.

Not wanting to give Mouse away, Elariel continues to pretend that she doesn't know who Mouse is. She seems quite surprised at Chornellia's reaction, but she seems content to ignore it. She places her order, for some spiced meats, with a salad, and water, as well as some bread to mop up any remaining sauce(Thinking indian).
After she explains, she smiles at the girl, choosing to be gracious.
"Thank you."
After Mouse leaves, she turns to Chornellia, clearly meaning to question her.
"Do you mind if I ask what that was about?"

Before the food is brought out

My tribe has had a very violent and bloody past Ms. Charlotte, and while I will not justify that it is either wise or foolish. It is simply what has been going on ever since the day of the red sand. Seth says to her not sure how far the stories of his tribes last stand against the Eye sunguise went. No doubt not far outside his realm, however it may also go by a different name to the victor who lost very few in that war due to clones. As for what would make one a traitor in my tribe, sadly many things now a days, back in our golden age speaking out against one of our leaders would not be seen as a challenge, however as I said the day of the red sand changed many things for my people. Speaking out against the two tribal leaders is not wise, and doing so to cause revolt is often met with the sword. Defying the ancient laws that make some of us serve the eye is also punishable by death. It is why most families no longer refuse to send their child to serve when they receive the calling. Seth explains to the two sisters hoping this would at least make them understand a little of how bad things were with his people at this time. He hoped to one day change all this, however first he need to own land, and even then he would need those who would follow his new ways of teaching as well as the chieftains daughter on his side.

Seth then listens as Vianna explains the many things simply putting ones hand on their sword could mean. Some he could understand, however others seemed a bit odd. A woman places her hand on her blade to flirt? In my tribe when a woman wishes to flirt they throw a stone at the mans head. If he doesn't pass out from being hit in the head from not looking she may take further interest in him. Seth says with a bit of amusement as you can see a story in his eyes as he looks back into the past when the chieftens daughter had thrown a stone at his friend while they had been playing a game together and almost killed him.

However when Charlotte begins to put up a fuss Seth is brought back to where he is as he looks at her with a smile. I believe you just proved your sister true. She just challenged you, and you rushed to defend yourself, making it seem like she was telling the truth. Am I correct Teacher? Seth says looking between the two sisters with a bit of confusion on his face on if this was a lesson or he had simply seen what the sister had been just explaining in this simple conversation. Also what girl are we talking about, the worldspeaker? Seth says not knowing which one of the two woman he had acknowledged today she could be referring to.

As the Meal is served

I thought servants were mostly ignored? Seth asks the two sisters that had become his teachers of sorts as their own servant had begun taking orders. Boar, roasted over a spik apple in mouth. And no I don't want part of it the whole thing. Seth says to the one getting their orders as he comes by before looking to the two women when he is asked about a drink. Water will be fine thank you. he says not wanting to try one of the drinks and spit it out like he had almost done with one of the other human drinks he had tried before. However when the woman calls out how much time he has spent with Mouse he looks at the two sisters with a bit of appreciation, as well as caution. It seems the two of you make sure you know all the major players before you enter a room. I must say I will give you that. However as someone recently new to this city life I had to find someone to teach me, and the twins well lets leave it at that you get more from a stone then you do from either of them. Seth says talking about how every time it seemed to end in an argument. My other partner was always busy, and so I took to the only other familiar face. Sadly soon after showing me the city I was left to learn the rest of it myself. Something I did not learn well as my teachers are pointing out. Seth says kindly to the two, showing that he appreciated them taking the time to teach him such things.

However when the two begin on Noegle Seth can not help but laugh, he liked them, blunt and to the point. Are you two sure you can not stay a while and teach me more about the life of court. I have learned much so far, and have never had more beautiful teachers either. Seth says clearly beginning to enjoy himself at his friends expense.

Noegle shows no sign of suprise although his slightly bored face does turn to mild interest. The one who stands out different and unique? That is a very generous way to describe my situation. He responds before turning to the waiter and ordering medium-raw pork with raspberry sause and Balsamic caramelized pears and onions. He also follows Mouse advice and order some Helm hunter wine while using to time to consider whether it would be wise to let her remain in the belief of him being incompetent or to explain his thought process. He tastes a chunk of bread and decides for the latter. You incorrectly assume that I didn't want to have anyone know that I was present. I just wanted to avoid all the unpleasantries that I could expect at this kind of arrangement after my.. departure and at that Marcus Flint has done an excellent job this far. Right now only the ones with brains are aware of my presence and I would like to keep it that way, the last part is said more as a question than as an order.

Terrified, he saw the draw matron tapping him softly with an eerie smile. Hunter, you gotta try the hook horror flank She said sweetly My men brought it specifically for this dinner. "I don't care what it seems." Charlotte hisses. "I just want her to stop doing that."

Vianna laughs lightly before turning to Noegle. "And you assume incorrectly if you think that those who haven't seen through your little disguise are nearly everybody at this event, and those who haven't have probably already heard it from someone else. If you didn't want to be bothered regarding your little house drama, I guess counting on the politeness of nobles to pretend they aren't aware of the obvious secret is effective. Still, claiming to be a noble from further away, or a rich merchant, or a guide of the court to the Eye's Hunters, who are clearly foreign here, would have been more effective." She says with a shrug.

Turning back to Seth, she continues. "We are staying for a few days here, as is the prince. You are welcome to come visit at the Joyous Fish tavern nearby. Though if you want Charlotte to be less spiteful, you could get a loaf of Darukan Seed bread from Garudan's Bakery down the street from the tavern." She says and you notice Charlotte smiling wistfully at the notion of the bread, and she quickly orders some.

Background noise:

So how's your cousin doing?
He's great, got accepted to Gratious' Magic Academy.
Oooh, fancy. What's his study?
He focuses on Future Historical Summoning and Philosophy of Relativistic Runes
Future Historical Summoning? Isn't that just... Summoning?
He said I wouldn't understand... But I think it is.
What's a relative rune?

Chornellia rolls her eyes at Elariel's act. "Oh, please. Don't embarrass yourself. You know the girl is an agent, even if not a huntress. She drove you a couple of weeks ago, and the Stonesinger was hanging around with her the week before. It's fairly obvious, don't you think? Why would the Eye have a contract with a specific coach company to drive around his hunters if no group has been in the city for years, and his current hunters are too resourceful for carriages to be their chosen ride? The contract was written days before the assembly of your group. At the same time that Mouse girl was hired by the company. And driving you was her one and only job so far, within that company. And then she takes her leave during one of their busiest weeks. No doubt she'll return after this is over."

"Though I guess she should thank Seth Stonesinger. I wouldn't have asked around about her if the word on the street wasn't that there is a coach girl that the wild Hunter took fancy of."

Treys and carts of food and beverages begin to leave the estate's kitchens and spread out among the tables. Seth's boar is quickly delivered, while Draghl the Giant has some sort of large ram delivered to his, along with a keg Pekal Stout Ale, a dark ale that is brewed exclusevly in the Pekal Peaks of the Iron Region.

The servants carefully deliver all the guests a crystal glass filed with the deep red wine, though it seems to gleam with all colors where the light strikes it.

Lord Bronzesetter rises from his seat by the prince, his hand holding the goblet high. He is rather old, his head featuring his gray hair, which is long and tied behind his head. Still, the man is of sure footing and stable of hand, the years have been kind to him.

"First of all," he begins, surveying the crowd of nobles, merchants, ambassadors and hunters, "I would like to thank the Helm Hunters who have shared with us a great privilege. The Arnonian Wine of the Timeless is one of the world's wonders, and to say that it has a story behind it would be a grieve understatement. The grapes become this wine grow only in one place in the entirety of our world, and it is on The Arnonian, the casino ship, or the casino of time. A magnificent ship that sails the seas, going beyond the reach of our eyes, sometimes gracing us with its presence by our shores. There, gamblers place their own life on the line, and those who come out ahead, win long life and even immortality! There, the grapes of time, the years that were lost and won made fruit, grow and turned into this wine. A single glass of this wine will extend your life by five years, and the Helm Hunters have brought us a thousand years of time to share!" Talk and amazement washes over the crowd and Lord Bronzesetter allows it for some time, before it slows into a stop as the people return their attention to their host.

"And with this wine, I would like to toast to our prince. Prince Hornest may be young, but what he lacks in experience, he more than makes up for in, in eagerness, devotion, a keen mind and a sharp tongue. His lineage is lined with great heroes who have seen us through many a crisis, and our Prince will arise to greatness as his brothers and fathers have before him. And mothers too." He adds with a knowing smile and a nod, though you are not sure to who it is directed to. "When Prince Hornest was born, his eldest brother, Prince Jiroon, has perished. He left our world young and wanting, but also strong and brave. He left a mark, but his work is not finished! For I believe that he is still with us, guiding Prince Hornest's hand and mind, sharing his strength and wisdom with the young prince, and they will achieve greatness together. I believe, that under the directing hand of Prince Hornest and the royal family, they will bring a new era to us, where they will truly rule again, uniting this fractured land and delivering us from the hands of the Sunguises!" His hand is raised high, the wine sparkles at the light, waiting for the crowd to raise their own goblets.

There is a silence for a moment, until the Eye himself raises his own goblet. "To Prince Hornest!" He calls, and the moment where some of the tension is lifted off the crowd's shoulders is almost visible as they join, raising their own glasses and finally drinking from the wine. Their eyes shine in wonder at the experience and it seems that the wine is all they talk about the following moments, perhaps trying not to address the actual words that Lord Bronzesetter has spoken. At least the lord is now sitting, chatting merrily with the prince.

(Yes, all the hunters with you also drank)

Drinking the wine gives you the full benefits of consuming a Heroes' Feast, along with the effects of Restoration, Greater and curing all damage that you may have.

If old age becomes relevant, you will get a +5 to the roll to determine the age you die at.

The flavor of the wine is hard to describe, as it seems that every time you taste of it, the experience is different. Nonetheless, it is always pleasant and enjoyable, regardless of your usual disposition towards such drinks, filling you with vigor and wonder. You feel a bit wiser from the experience.

You also get 100xp from drinking the wine.

Elariel listens to Chornellia, and nods.
"That's quite possibly true. I felt that she worked for him, but I didn't do any research into her background, as I had other things to do. Still, it wouldn't be polite of me to admit it, even if acting is not my forte."

Once the food arrives, Elariel waits for the toast, and raises her goblet, noting that everyone else was drinking, and she tries it, tentatively.

After she tries it, she decides to sip again, before commenting on it.
"That... was not what I was expecting."

Seth takes notice of how Charlotte's sister does indeed stop as her sister asks and instead addresses Noegle instead. The woman did have good logic, even if he wasn't from this kind of world the lines were there for anyone paying attention. However he is more then a bit surprised when he is invited to spend time with the two sisters and continue their lessons. I will do my best to try and spend some time there, however I do have a prior engagement in the pits, though I am sure you already know that. What time would it be okay for me to arrive? Seth asks before turning to Charlotte, And if I do happen to make it I will be sure to bring you your bread so that you do not draw your blade on me. Seth says with an amused smile, trying to use her earlier tactic against her.

That's when Seth hears the background noise and wonders what this could be, much like the one who was being told about this. It was alien to him, though in retrospect this entire land was alien to him. And being taught at a school of magic, did such things exist? Teacher's do you happen to know what they are talking about? Seth says trying to whisper, but due to how his voice was when not singing it was very distinct he was talking.

After the food is served

As the giant boar is brought out to him, Seth looks across to the giant who seems to be eating some form of ram. Interesting, I wounder how it tastes? Perhaps next time I am in their land. Seth thinks to himself as he takes out a small knife and gets ready to cut into the pig when the server begins pouring that weird drink in front of him. Now why did he have to get in the way, the boar smelled so good, ahh there we go just a little more.... Thats when one of the nobles begins talking and Seth lets his head fall onto the table, why did they have to talk so much. There was good food in front of them. Talk after eating. However to not be rude he takes a sip of the wine, and then another, and another..Soon the entire glass is gone as Seth looks at the empty cup confused beyond belief. I swear it was a different drink each time. What kind of magic is this? Seth asks his teachers as he stares at the cup oddly before remembering his boar as he stabs the knife into it and cuts off a large chunk of meat which he then takes in his hands and begins eating, not realizing that he should be using the strange round flat thing and the trident looking thing near it to eat his food.

Noegle responds with a smile and a tired shrug. Noone, not even the lower nobles, had tried to use this kind of unique chance to ingratiate themselves with one of the other big houses or with the prince and he found it very unlikely if they had known. Vianna and this conversation had started to remind him of Elariel and the exhausting debate that inevitably will happen when he animates his first corpse.
So have you done any interesting adventures lately? He asks a whole second too late, not entirely managing to avoid the awkward silence. That devourer had affected him more than he had noticed. He really wasn't performing his A game. Maybe he should have ordered that restoration prior to the party?

Noegle's eye widens as Lord Bronzetter starts speaking. Arnonian wine? That stuff was said to be crazy expensive although I have never actually looked into it. It doesn't look like anything fancy. He thinks before taking it closer to his nose and experience an odd but very pleasant smell. His mind have blocked out the old lord's bootlicking until he hears the part about breaking free of the eye. He freezes. ARE YOU CRAZY OLD MAN? he thinks, eyes immediately on the clone with the eye's presense, then DO YOU WANT TO DIE?. He collects his thought and analyses the situation. But all his brain returns are fractured thoughts. He waits in silence, almost expecting the the eye to smite the old Bronzetter and is pleasantly suprised that the Eye delays his responds.

He put the glass at his lips and almost immediately pulls it away. A taste this strong could very likely be ment to conseal a strong poison. He looks around.

Assuming noone falls dead or shows sign of poison he lets the glass meet his lips again. Suprised he takes it away, this time it tasted like elderflowers. Again, cherry. Raspberry. Strawberry. Beaf?. He takes a chance and empties the entire glass and can physically feel a pleasant warmth spreading from his neck and down, touching his c. His mood lifts and he feels as if a great burden had been taken from him. His eyes starts glowing(figuratively) with renewed energy and he can feel thought lining up for his examination. He pulls the memory of Lord Bronzetter's speech up and finds to his disappointment that he still doesn't understand the actions of their host.

If someone does something and you don't understand why, ask yourself who it benefits, the voice of Arvan, one of his old teachers, echoes in his head. The situation is that our host have provoked the ruler of this realm and likely could expect a retaliation. Having been the head of the one of the great Housees for his entire life I can't imagine that Lord Bronzetter was stubid. He would know what would be comming. We then had two scenarios. Either he is prepared and intentionally baits the Eye into punishing him or he is being manipulated into recieving a punishment. If he had some way to defeat the eye he would have done it already.. Except if he needed the support from the other nobles. If he has found a way to avoid retaliation and the Eye fail to issue punishment it would be seen as a sign of weakness and it's possible that other houses would join him. On the other hand there is countless houses that would benefit from the power void that would appear, should the Bronzetter house suffer serious attack. Or even other guises that would love to see the Eye sweat. Which is most likely really depends on the lord's ability to resist manipulation, both mundane and magical.

That was something. Noegle says, leaving it open to interpretation whether he is refering to the wine or the speech, as he descretely peeks at the lord and studies his body language. The way his eyes moved when talked to, the stiffness or relaxation his body showed, his breathing, signs of emotions in the facial muscles and the speed of his movements. He also tries to recall anything the lord might have showed under his speech.

Trying to figure out the will save and the sense motive modifier of Lord Bronzetter with my own sense motive and kno(local). If it's possible to take 20 on those I'll do it, otherwise:

Vianna looks at Seth. "There is an event in two nights, I know that much. Wouldn't know of anything else of note. Though I doubt you will stand a change in that event, not with some of the folk that are going to check it out. Draghl, for example, is going to be quite tough to take down in a bout of fisticuffs." She says, turning to Noegle's question. "Well, you'll see the results of one of our latest adventures soon enough." She says with a smile.

Looking at Seth as he asks her about the background conversation, she frowns. "What is there to know? There is a mage college in this city, Gratious' Magic Academy, apparently. Academigians always like making their field of study sound as confusing and impressive as they can."

"Not magic, but time." Charlotte says sagely, as she drinks her own wine slowly.

"The Arnonian is quite the magnificent ship." Vianna says. "I would recommend visiting it before it departs for another hundred years or so, even if you aren't going to bet your life on it. You know, anything that lives on that ship, everybody besides the patrons that is, are infused with time. It's hard to explain, and very bizarre to witness. I heard that if one was to challenge one of these creatures, instead of blood spilling out, it is time itself, and they only become stronger and more dangerous as the burden of time dissipates. We decided not to test it out, but if you were to defeat the manager of the casino, it is said that you could win eternal life."

"That Lord Bronzesetter is a crazy schmuck." Charlotte adds casually, nearly causing the nobles at your table to choke.

You don't sense that the lord is under magical compulsion, and his behavior seems natural enough... Perhaps it is just an outburst of crazy, or something more serious... Many great nobles would benefit from having him replaced. Your own cousin could benefit from the Lord Bronzesetter's death, if it is timed right, but there is also the issue of the potential stain to the name of a house he might want to rule.

"Well, it would have been a disappointment if it was something you would expect of wine." Valetis says with a smile.

Gardir's tiny spy crawls back to him soon and the elf grows pale, his hand passing through his few remaining hairs.

"So it's gone." Chornellia says, reading his expression. He only nods. "That rat of the Eye is going to have an unpleasant future." She says, turning back to stare at Elariel. "We will find her, you can tell that to your master." She says, and you know that the last her did not have Mouse as the target.

The evening continues with dining, conversation and entertainment in the form of jugglers, acrobats, plays and magicians of many talents. A bard begins to sing a soft tune welcoming the moon and nights as the party seems to calm down. The prince excuses himself, bidding you all a good night and safe travels, thanking everybody for coming and for honoring him on this day, and departs. The Helm Hunters are soon to leave as well.

Some of the nobles leave as well, but others seem happy remaining a few more hours, dancing and conversing. The Blood Hunters remain for the time as well.

At this point of the evening, it would be appropriate for you to leave or stay, as you wish.

At some point during the evening, a servant approaches you and delivers a message from Francius. He tells you that the phoenix will come in two weeks.

"Find her? Is someone missing? Wait... the creature? Is that who you mean?"

When the servant approaches, Elariel thanks him for the message.

As Seth is told that Draghl would be participating in the arena as well he smiles. It seems I will at least have a challenge and the others will have another target. Here I was worried that they would all target me for being the outsider. he says amused. I look forward to seeing him in the arena, for I know even if I lose the battle I will have learned something of value. Seth says now more eager then he had been before for the battle.

When she explains to him that it is just a bunch of people making things more confusing then it has to be he simply nods, not pressing the topic anymore, after all he was not a mage, and didn't plan on becoming one.

Listening to the stories about the ship gets Seth unnerved, he had never seen such a large ship, and things living on it having to deal with time....If that was true challenging something that had been around that long may not be the wisest idea, however if the others wished to go there he would not argue. Crazy, desperate, or brilliant. My tribe did something similar and we were driven to the border of extinction. I doubt the eye would look to kindly on it if the man was serious. Seth notes looking at the lord wondering what was going through his mind and that of the Eye, after all his master had laughed it off meaning that there was no danger at the moment.

As the party begins to unravel Seth stays with the sisters until they depart, walking them to the exit. I look forward to our meeting again, and thank you for taking me under your wing and teaching me what you have. Seth says kindly to the two of them, kissing their hands, one at a time. Once they have left, unless they invite him to follow he returns to look for the others.

No magical compulsion huh? So either mundane manipulation or he has something up his sleeve. Noegle thinks.

Interested he leans slightly towards his companion "What is the story between the Eye and your tribe Seth?"

When people start to leave he turns to Vianna: When you said soon enough did you mean soon like tonight or?

As Seth is asked once again about his tribes past with the eye he looks at Noegle, wondering if perhaps all of his fighting with Elariel had made the man pay less attention when he had spoken. I believe we have already spoken about my tribes history with the Eye. Seth says turning from his teachers for a moment. And you know more then most outside my tribe already know, that is something of value, something I rather not talk about at a party among people who could use this against my tribe or the Eye. Seth says as he returns to look at the two sisters. I mean no offense, simply there are more ears then just yours here, and a cleaver person would pay attention. After all how easy it was for you to know about the people I follow says enough for me to know not to say anything rash in public. Or would I be wrong in assuming as such? Seth asks, now wondering if such things were sociably acceptable in this environment.

Chornellia looks at Elariel, her gaze intense, but her face emotionless. She says nothing.

Ellyrion doesn't find the paladin. He is unlikely to be of high enough standing to be invited to such an event.

"A wise man controls the flow of personal information." Vianna says, nodding. At Noegle's question, she merely raises an eyebrow, but says nothing.

And so, the day ends. As you leave, some feel a bit more accomplished than others, but now you are left again to plan what road you shall traverse next. Two nights hence is the brawl which Seth wishes to attend, so there's that.

As the event ends, Elariel leaves, and heads back to her room, intending to meditate, and seek answers in the morning.

In the morning, after she quickly reviews her spells, and works out a bit, before cleaning off, she seeks out the eye, and then the library, intending on asking him about the vanishing creature, and reading more about local geography, notably, where ruins and dangers might be found, preferably of a magical nature.

As the event ends Seth makes his way over to Ovel before whispering into his ear. If at all possible could you have someone keep an eye on you know who? Two new friends had already known who she was, mostly do to my fault, and they made it clear that others would no doubt recognize her as well. Seth says as quietly as he can as he looks at his friend, gripping his upper arm as he does so. I will be at my normal place of rest for the night, if anyone needs me in the morning I will be with Ms. Vianna and Ms. Charlotte. Seth says in a normal tone before leaving for the coach service he had been sleeping at each night. With luck Mouse would be back this way he could keep her safe, and if not he was sure Ovel would make sure the Eye was aware if he wasn't already.

When Seth awakens the next morning he goes to Garudan's Bakery as the two sisters had asked him to so that Charlotte would be in a better mood. Trying to remember the name of the bread Seth thinks for a few moments as he looks at all the different kinds until he finds the right one. I would like to buy 5gp worth of Darukan Seed bread. he says to the baker as he waits for her to give him the correct amount before leaving. With the bread in tow, Seth makes his way down the street until he arrives at Joyous Fish tavern and walks in. Once inside he goes up to the inn keeper and takes a seat on a stool as he asks as kindly as his voice would allow him. Can you let Ms. Vianna and Ms. Charlotte that they have a vistor, and he has Darukan seed bread. He says to the man not expecting him to deny the much larger man what he asked for, after all Seth no longer was in the fancy garb from last night, now he was back to his simple pants and boots, with only his sword strap to cover a small portion of his chest.

"You have mentioned the conflict vaguely but since we were on the topic I was wondering what the details were? Like who did what exactly and how long the battle lasted", Noegle responds, wondering why Seth would think that he'd want him to repeat himself. Maybe it was something cultural?

Accepting his limits and fearing for his mental health Noegle decides to postpone practical exercises of turning dead until some later point. Instead he tries to find (Ovel or Francius?) and asks You mentioned that some druidic circles were able to transform into all sorts of thing. Do you have time to tell me more about those? They sound very interesting.
He'll also spend roughly 8 hours a day on going through the library and reading up on the druidic circles. He hopes to figure out if he is able to learn something about it transforming into other shapes and if it sounds plaussible he hopes to convince the group to go there. Also how long it would take to travel to a circle.
He'll check up on the antidote to see how everything is progressing. He'll also like to spend 8 hours/day on learning how to use blood transfusion in practice now that he understands the very fundemental theory behind it.
He'll spent the remaining time looking for quests that involve any of the creatures that he found out would make for good servants.
Intentionally he doesn't try to learn anything about Lord Bronzetter, hoping that the Eye won't ask them to do anything on that matter.

Elariel:

A young man guides you into the Eye's office once you enter Clara Lux. He opens the doors, announcing your presence and then softly asking if you wish some tea.

The Eye seems to be occupied at first, looking out of a window overlooking the city. "They are so predictable." He says after a moment, turning to you. "The Blood Hunters remain in my city, intending to find their present, or at least punish those responsible for its disappearance. Chornellia is a resourceful woman, and it is good that she is here..." He smiles. "With her gone, my Hunters can move in easily in Mustza, the Blood Capital."

He waits for you to ask your question. "I haven't seen this creature that they have brought in, yet. Mouse and Leeon are currently keeping a low profile so that Chornellia and her crew do not catch them, and that is best for now. Regarding the rumors of its power, it is... Hard to discern. It could be a spell or a poison, perhaps, but until Leeon can bring it to me, your guess is as good as mine." He smiles.

Seth:

Ovel gives you a reassuring smile and a nod as you leave for the night, but neither Mouse nor Leeon are arrive during the night or morning. Certain that they are safe, you set out to buy some bread and meet the sisters.

Your money earns you two loaves of the Darukan Seed bread. It seems to be quite expensive, but from the rich smells that rise from the bread, you can understand why Charlotte likes it so much.

The innkeeper, a stout half-orc, grumbles something to one of his young aids, who rushes up the stairs. A minute has yet to pass before you feel a pull at your wrist as the boy speaks quietly, barely audible. "You are expected, sir. Would you follow me, please?" He says meekly.

The door opens as you approach, before the kid knocks on it. He scurries off, leaving you in front of the room. Looking inside, you see that neither of the three ladies is near the door.

Vianna smiles gently at you, sitting on her bed. Charlotte sits on the table, looking out the window. You feel a nudge at your bread as it is pulled away from you and she returns to her spot, nodding approval and keeping you wondering when did she even leave her spot.

Chornellia sits quietly on the other bed. Parchment seems to be scattered across the bed, but she rolls it gently as you appear, not really acknowledging your presence.

"I've had a chance meeting with Chornellia, Seth." Vianna speaks smoothly, smiling at the both of you. She pauses for a moment, as Charlotte's tearing of the bread and munching on it seems to threaten her smile. She continues after a moment. "She agreed to perform the ritual after I explained to her that you meant no insult. You didn't, did you?" She gives you a meaningful stare.

"The ritual is safe." Chornellia says after a moment. "In some tribes, the ritual is performed as part of the rite of passage, one that every child undertakes when he wishes to carry the title of a Stonesinger. In those, they would not accept you as an adult, regardless of your experience. For they will see you have neither passed the trials of a warrior, nor the rituals of a singer."

"There is a price, however. One that does not relate to the ritual itself, but to my service. If you wish me to perform the ritual, you will share your tales. The stories of your tribe, your way of life..."

"That sounds reasonable, right?" Vianna interjects. "It wasn't easy to convince Chornellia to offer this to you, not after the incident. I have already paid the same price..." She pauses, glancing at the scrolls. "You wouldn't make it be for naught, would you?"

Noegle:

Remembering that Ovel briefly mentioned the western druidic circle, you seek him out. However, he doesn't seem to be in any of the usual places, and your search ends up taking you to Francius anyway.

"Druidic circles..." The Elan considers. "Well, they usually reside in forests, though I believe that there is one in the caves at the feet of Darastix Mountain, as well as some of the lakes and coasts, though I'm not sure where exactly. My researched touched upon them briefly, but they hadn't much interest in fey... I know that the Blood and Grip region have a few circles in their areas. While your transformation abilities are similar in nature, heh, I believe they focus on the natural shapes. Animals, plants, elementals..." He pauses. "Well, I have heard from my elders that one of the Sunguises, though I'm not sure if it's the Blood or the Grip, has druidic magic and shifting too, and likely far stronger than any druid you will find in a circle."

You find that the antidote will be ready when it's ready, and you are growing tiresome. A week or so, now what do you want? The Alchemist sighs. For 50 gold, she will give you supplies to practice infusing blood, but you will need alchemical training to actually have a chance at learning to do anything more than that. Adriana Rippen seems like she might be convinced to take you on as an apprentice, if you badger her enough.

Elariel nods, before speaking.
"Yes please, some tea sounds good."
She listens while The Eye discusses his plans.
"Then, with luck, they can do whatever it is that they're doing in Mustza, while the Blood Hunters remain here, searching. Hopefully, without them making an incident occur."
After he answers her question, she smiles slightly.
"When it is located, I would like the chance to observe it, if that is possible. I've always enjoyed collecting knowledge, and this creature seems to be something quite odd. Still, there is that brawl that Seth wants to go to in a couple of days, which isn't going to be particularly enjoyable, and then, I think that we'll be leaving for a week and a bit."

As the morning sun comes Seth looks around the carriage company for any sign of Mouse or Leeon, though he didn't suspect to see them. After all if someone had noticed them as the sisters had no doubt they would not go anywhere near where they could normally be found. Instead going to places they had never been seen before, but if one thought about it that way then anyone would in that case look their meaning it had to be some place they didn't frequent to often, however at least one of them felt safe...Oh may the great hunter watch over them if they went home. Seth says as he makes his way to the bakery.

Once at the inn Seth watches the boy seem to vanish up the stairs before appearing by his side, odd he didn't see the boy come back down the stairs? Perhaps he used some kind of servants passage. Seth thinks to himself as he follows the boy up the stairs and is not surprised as the door opens to great him, however the fact no one was near it surprised him. It also didn't pass him that there were three women hear and not two like he had originally believed. Ms.Vianna it is good to see you again, and I made sure to do as you instructed when greeting someone. he says holding up the two loafs of bread which seem to vanish from his hands in an instant. Ms. Charlotte I hope you enjoy the bread and I didn't awaken you to early, though by the fact you already have company, Seth says as he looks towards Chornellia, Perhaps I should come back at another time? he says looking between the three women, this was dangerous. He knew only a fraction of what they could do, while they no doubt had pooled their knowledge on what they knew about him.

[roll0]

As the true intentions of why Chornellia was here, or at least one of the many facets at least was revealed Seth calms slightly as he looks first to the worldspeaker and then to his teacher. It is hard not to insult someone in a conversation when one doesn't understand the form of conversation being used. As you were teaching me yesterday Ms. Vianna, so to answer your question no I was not trying to insult Ms. Chornellia, I simply wished to know more about the ritual before I jumped blindly into it. After all tribes work together when their is mutual gain, and then betray another when that mutual gain is lost. As such I wanted to see what I was signing before I agreed to, if you will buy the product. Seth says trying to use terms he had heard in the city to get his message across better.

Seth then listens to Chornellia as she explains that in some tribes that if one did not pass the ritual they were not considered an adult, something he could easily relate to as his own tribe had such a custom. I can understand that reasoning perfectly Chornellia, as my own tribe has a similar ritual to prove one is an adult, however we do not look down on those outside our tribe who have not done our trials. They are after all OUR heritage not anothers. Seth says letting what he has said sink in for a moment as he himself thinks of the price being asked. In return for this ritual you wish to learn the tales of my people. Now I must ask you this, as their is a difference. Do you wish to know the tales of my people, or the truth once I learn it. Our entire history if you will. As that kind of knowledge could be considered a weapon in the wrong hands, Ms. Vianna taught me last night that a wise man controls the amount of information shared, and I would have to agree with that statement. Seth says standing in the doorway still as he looks to his teacher. By what you told me last night I shouldn't accept this deal, which would in turn insult Ms. Chornellia for not allowing her to know my tribes entire history, which would also insult you as you went out of your way to get her to offer me this deal. Seth says looking then to Charlotte eating her bread as he places his hand on the hilt of his blade lightly. I wounder Charlotte what would you do in this situation, it is an odd one no? And you hate courts version of over analyzing everything. Seth says before turning back to Chornellia, removing his hand from his blade as he flashes his two teachers a smile before his face becomes like stone. Lady Chornellia I offer you what you asked for, the stories of my people as well as their ways of life. However I do not offer you personal information on me as my story is still being written, nor those close to me. In return you will perform the ritual on me and we will go our seperate ways, is this agreeable?

Ellyrion slowly awoke from his slumber raising himself softly . The bed was more soft than usual, and his head was sort of spinning. "Drank too much last time" He muttered to himself. Alcohol in his village was much more rare than here, something to be made over very important feasts or marriages. He had yet to develop a resistance to it. He could barely remember last night . He saw a from in the bed bedside him , probably Elariel. Deciding not to wake her up, he took a walk on the outside of the room to clear his mind.

THe moment he went out, he realized the situation he was in by two things. One, the walls and floor had a different coloration, and Two, Skrat was looking outside the window, with the the most fiendish grin a crow could have.
Well well well, what do we have here ?" He asked mockingly "You are far from what stories i have heard of such matters , a black and white shadow that is. Sneaking out aren't we ?"

"I honestly have no idea Skrat " Ellyrion responded truthfully "My mind is in short of a haze right now, i cannot remember much of the last knight's events "

THe white crow eyed him strangely for a second, but he saw the truth in his eyes ."All right, let me break it down to you. TUrns out, drows like to drink. Like, super drink. It probably has something to do with the fact they live in a society where one in every two drinks and food are poisoned, along with any form of weakness being exploited. So basically, your little drow friend reached to a point where she began to embarrass herself, and asked you in her right mind to carry her back to her place before further scandal was created . Since apparently lacking a spine to say no to intimidating situations where you might endanger your group is short of a (class feature) thing for you, you quickly agreed. Even your sis was a tad suprised, probably the strange wine hit you a tad bit pal. After a bit you reached her rented room if a very fine inn -DO you believe they had dedicated familiar service ?- YOu went in her room, and THEN things started to get quirky. She...she offered you to share a bottle of her mushroom brew or something ? I don't remember, i was busy been groomed by a delightful tiefling guy. So soooft ....." He ruffled his white, now gleaming feather happily "Why you never groomed me ?"

"Skrat. To the point. We can talk about you supposed abuse later" Ellyrion said , throwing a death glare to Skrat. "What happened after ?"

"Oh Uh....I don't know. " The bird said "Surprisingly you accepted the drink since you were too scared of offending her. I left your guys alone, to talk to the other familiars in the pen. Almost got in a fight with a mouse there, cracked some jokes with a tortoise, and shared some corn with a pretty cute parrot . Judging that you are still clothed , you probably passed out after a few hours of drunken idiocy. Never understood why you two two legs like that stuff."

Ellyrion's mind was a maelstrom of thoughts : Strangling Skrat for allowing him to do such a thing , What exactly happened in a room, what Elariel would say about it. He could even hear his father's voice scolding him for his action. In such condition, he did not see the hand grabbing him by the neck , bringing him back to the room. He was once again met with the stern, angry gaze of the female drow , her eyes burning with fury . "You will never speak any of this to no one." She said darkly "If the tiniest rumor springs up from this, i will have my men take you, and flay you alive. Am i understood ?". Ellyrion swiftly nodded, though he was more than capable of overpowering her at the moment. He already had gone to extreme lengths to not socially destroy the group , he could not give up here . "Good, you can leave the building, the guards are mine and will keep a blind eye. But before you leave...". She moved closely, pressing her lips against his, catching Ellyrion by total suprise. THe kiss lasted lesst than 5 seconds, the drow smiling as she pulled away. "I want you to know that you were a great kisser last night~" She completed in a very different tone, before becoming serious again " Now get out!".

As Ellyrion was pushed to the corridor again, the door slamming behind him, with a look of utter confusion in his face, Skrat was chatting up with a parrot. "Two legs are pretty weird " Skrat's company commented "Especially in mating habits. If they just built a nest for the other it would be much simplier"

"Aw come on, we shouldn't judge them Darling" Skrat said sweetly "THeir mating season is all year long, no breaks . How they keep up with that without going bonkers is beyond me
"Maybe they are just really good at hiding their true nature" Te parrot offered
"THat would explain a lot" Skrat agreed

Elariel:

"I'll decide whether or not it is something that is safe to show you when I know more of it myself." The Eye says, looking out of the window. "For now, before you get distracted with other matters... There is something I wish you to attend to. Noegle has requested some time... He has taken an odd interest in blood transfusions and the notion that certain gnoll clans have been domesticated through such means, so he will be apprenticing for the alchemist... Two others will join you, and I want you to meet them and make them feel like a family. It's one of your talents." He adds with a smile. "They might be a bit tricky, but it should be fun to observe, so I wouldn't ruin the fun. Haverdasher and Tucker, you know the church."

Seth:

Chornellia nods quietly at your words, not looking surprised or annoyed. She gives Vianna a nod, and the woman slips towards you, placing a gentle hand on your shoulder and guiding you to the second bed. "We will leave you to it, then. We'll just be downstairs." She adds assuredly. With a swift motion, she drags her sister and leaves you alone with the waiting Worldspeaker.

Tucker and Haverdasher:

It was quite an unusual morning, one that will set the tone for the mornings to come. A morning of LEGENDS. The Eye, the Sunguise and the ruler of the region, one of the ancient powers, the pillars of the continent. And he has named you one of his Hunters.

And now you are sitting in some hidden basement of one of Pelor's churches, casually drinking tea with a pale man, one who is a clone of the Eye. A clone, one who calls himself 124. Tall-ish, brown hair shortly cut and neatly brushed, pale blue eyes. He has some of the looks of the Eye, or so you heard, but he doesn't carry the power, the intelligence and sharpness that has been attributed to the Sunguise.

"Ummm... Biscuits?" He asks, offering you the tray.

To think that the man who spawned this creature had a book that held all your life, thoughts and dreams. It was so personal, carrying within it secrets that you kept from everybody, sometimes even from yourselves. It was just a glimpse of the power the Sunguise had over his servants.

The contract had been described to you. Considering the position offered, it was rather simple and not quite as restrictive as one would expect. But the clone was here to answer any questions you might have now, and... Wait.

Elariel nods, accepting the answer.
"Even if it isn't safe, it may be wise to inform us of the danger. If new creatures are appearing, we could encounter more."
She seems happy to learn that Noegle was leaving, and she nods.
"I'll head over to the church then, and wait for them to emerge. I imagine we'll be talking again in the future, so, until then."
With that, she turns, and departs, heading over to the church to await the new members.

Tucker accepts a biscuit readily, still watching both his 'host' and his new partner with unabashed curiosity. He eats the treat without manners, all but stuffing it in his mouth, though he at least has the decorum to chew with his mouth closed. Mostly. "So," he mumbles through biscuit. He swallows, clearing his mouth. "What's the biggest, nastiest thing a Sun's Hunter has had to fight around here? Or do we just let the 'Guise handle things that are above a certain weight class? Just curious as to what I'm allowed to run away from, generally."

Outside, a nondescript raven sits atop the steeple of the church. It watches the area around the building, occasionally taking wing to flit around the church.

I realize that I didn't reserve a color. Is Dark Red okay?

EDIT- I nearly forgot about his raven. He can see anything it can see, and it's an extension of him.

Haverdash scoffs at the boy's words as he politely refuses the biscuits.

"Ha! Run away? Never! A real man shows courage and charges into the face of danger, a battle cry upon his lips!"

He pats the halfling on the head, apparently convinced he's actually a human boy in his earliest teens.

"But don't you worry! Haverdasher here will train you up to have nerves of steel before too long.

Oh, but my only question be regarding any allies we might be having accompany us on whatever missions we endeavor upon."

Tucker frowns, but doesn't bother correcting the human. They have a racial tradition of underestimating halflings, which has led to another racial tradition: halflings taking advantage of humans. If the old man feels the need to put special effort into protecting and coddling Tucker, it's all for the better.

As Seth is guided to the second bed he holds his hand up for a moment. Please give me a moment so I can let my friends know where I am. Seth says as he calls on his training as a story teller and whispers into the wind. Ovel I am with the sisters and worldspeaker, about to do a right of passage. This is where you can find me. Seth sends in the message directly to Ovel, trusting the shadow more then those he traveled with for something this important. Once finished he walks over to the second bed and smiles. I am ready to tell you the stories of my people now, if you are ready to listen. and so Seth sits patiently and awaits her answer.

One of the first tales my people are taught from a very young age is about how we came to this world. Some think of us as an offshot of giants, however that would not be true. Seth says not doubting for a moment she had heard a similar story from the other goliaths she knew in the blood region. It was Kavaki, the Ram lord who first gave us life. He was the first chieftain and threw him the goliath people learned how to live their lives. Most importantly though he took three students under him it is said, and taught them the ways of a chieftain. My tribe hails from one of the original three students, and at our prime were no doubt one of the most proud people. That is one of the many reasons it pains us so much that we lost to the Sunguise. In my tribes war with him to expand our lands, we went threw many chieftains, and lost much of our past knowledge passed down to us from Kavaki. However the followers of Vanua, the bringer of Woe believe that he did this to test us and make us stronger. The old chiefs would have had the power to smite these heretics where they stood. However with all the lost knowledge no one could ever prove that the followers of Vanua were wrong. After all he was not an evil god, and only worked towards strengthen us through hardship. Seth says explain to her about the stories of the war, and how many of his tribes most powerful warriors had been lost trying to stop the Eye who always seemed to come back in a new body, until their were few of them left and were forced to surrender and be servants or be eliminated.

"Had to fight?" 124 repeats the question. "Well, that's an odd question. Technically, you don't have to fight anything. How you go about achieving your goals and bringing fame to your name is up to you, mostly... In general, the nastiness of the foes varies, though Inevitables are a recurring theme..."

Elariel reaches the church after a few minutes, entering it. She finds the familiar priest talking to a man, probably a smith. The priest looks at you for a moment before giving you a nod and motioning to his chambers. Of course, it was not something that Tucker's raven missed.

If you wish, Skrat can happen to be nearby and notice the oddly still and observant Raven.

"As for your companions... They will be Elariel Fireborn, Ellyrion Shadowborn and Seth Stonesinger. Elariel will be joining us soon."

Seth:

Chornellia nods to Seth to begin his tale and seems to concentrate on his words to such extent that the rest of the world has stopped for her. She listens quietly, sometimes asking questions, but those are neither offensive nor intrusive. When Seth reaches the story of the battles with the Eye, she frowns slightly, but it quickly disappears and her concentration is not broken.

Finally, she nods once more. "You have honored your part of the deal, now I shall honor mine." She says simply as she opens a small chest. She lights the incense, giving the room a scent of burning redwood and ash, as she scatters flora in odd patterns. Between those patterns she arranges small animal bones. In the center, she creates a larger circle of bones, curved and carved with runes you find familiar. They aren't an exact match, but they do seem similar to those your own tribe uses in their rituals of worship and sacrifice.

Then she draws out a hollow bone, shaped like a horn with a stopper at its bottom. A quick slice of a knife, and her blood begins to drip into it as moves it slowly, letting the blood swirl at the bottom of the horn while she chants, calling your elders to respond.

Slowly, she motions for you to sit at the center of the bone circle, holding out both horn and knife to you, waiting for you to add your own share of blood into the mix, while other bloods of origins you do not know are added.

Tucker nods at the answer, acknowledging with the gesture that his question was vague. "Alright, I see your point. Though 'Inevitables' gives me a good ballpark. Lawful bastards just hate people who've figured out how to bypass the uglier parts of reality, like death. They just get in the way of progress."

When Elariel is mentioned, he smiles. "Would this Elariel Fireborn be an elf, red of hair and green of eye? Because if so, she's already in the building and drawing near."

Elariel nods, and heads into the priest's chambers, soon spotting the open passageway, and heading down it, calmly walking. As she rounds the final corner, and spots the odd pair, talking with the clone, she looks over them.

Heavy armor, and a heavy shield, on the big one, so some sort of warrior, and the halfling seems more lightly armored and armed, but he seems less confident. Some sort of bard, perhaps? But no instrument, but some sort of light caster, especially with all of those wands and scrolls, and other implements. Perhaps an artificer?

She continues to approach, and when she comes clearly into sight, she smiles, in a friendly fashion, and looks at the pair, after nodding to the clone. She has a rather strange looking sword on her hip, and wears white leather, with a silver band around her neck. She isn't ugly, but she isn't really pretty either, just sort of bland. A quiver of arrows pokes up to the left of her head, and she seems to have a bag on her waist, balancing the strange sword.
After a moment or two, she speaks, her voice sounding friendly.
"Hello! I'm Elariel, and welcome to the group! I'm sure you've got lots of questions, as it's not every day you become a Hunter."

Tucker is in the air before Elariel has even finished her sentence, floating towards her at eye level. He sweeps up her hand in his own, bowing in midair with a flourish. "They never told me the Hunters would include such ravishingly beautiful individuals. My name is Tucker, and it is a very fine pleasure to meet you."

He takes a 'step' or two back in midair, grinning widely. "As for questions, I suppose I should find out how much time your group spends killing things versus preparing to kill things. I'm good with items, but after an extended bout of blasting things I'll usually need a few days to restock. That gonna cause issue?"

As Seth finishes with the many tales he had to tell he is happy to see Chornellia was indeed going to hold up her end of the bargain, as he remains quiet observing what she is doing carefully to make sure he doesn't get in her way. Perhaps with time he could recreate such an occurrence. What surprised him however were the runes he saw laid upon the bones, much like those of his own tribe meaning the tribe who taught her had to be one of the original three from the story, or a close branch from one of them. He thought as he watched patiently as she took out a hallow bone shaped like a horn and blade and cut herself, and begins calling his elders to respond.

Finally he sees it is time for him to enter the circle, and so he removes his sword and places it on the bed as he slowly makes his way into the circile of bones, using the practice he had been given all those years ago to not disturb anything that had been placed as he sat down. Must I use that knife? he asks as he pulls out his own ritual scaring knife and shows it to her. Either way when he is told his answer on what knife he must use he grabs it and lifts it up into his left hand first and carefully begins carving the symbol of Kavaki into his right hand, letting the blood drip into the horn as he does so. He hoped that the symbol would grant him his lords protection through this ordeal and enlighten him to the past. Next he switches hands, after all the blood has seeped from his wounds and begins carving the symbol of Vanua into his left, so that threw this ordeal he would become stronger, even if it took time. Again letting the blood seep into the horn.

Elariel allows her hand to be swept up by the halfling, and she even smiles, slightly, pleasantly surprised.
"I wasn't expecting such a gallant greeting. Still, it is a welcome change."
As he continues, she nods.
"On to business then. So far, there has been a chance to restock after each mission, although that might not always be the case. If it does become an issue, we'll address it then."

Tucker nods, his playful, boyish demeanor dissolving slightly. It isn't as if he was only pretending; it's more that he knows when to get down to business. He hovers a foot or two off of the ground, one hand thoughtfully on his chin. "Right, well. The next question's a little more complicated. I have a standing contract with a number of, er, extra-extra-planar beings."

He grins. "It's a pretty good deal; they give me a pile of powers, and I allow them to experience reality through me. Sometimes they can lean on my personality a bit, but I'll always let you know if that's the case. They can't ever control me; it's more like an influence."

He makes a brushing gesture, as if the disclaimer was insignificant. "But that's not important. What's important is that I can only draw on one of them at a time, and they all do different things. Of the ones I commonly form pacts with, one of them is a sort of huntress-healer, one of them makes me more skillful and silver-tongued, one of them lets me find hidden items and people's vitals..."

He vanishes from view abruptly. A few seconds later, he reappears. "And my current vestige gives me invisibility and a little spy-raven, along with a few other benefits. The point is, I'm flexible. Is your group weak at anything in particular?"

Haverdasher stands from his chair and takes a knee as Elariel enters and introduces herself.

"Your lady, it is my pleasure to meet you. I am Sir Haverdasher."

He gently boxes Tucker on the ear.

"Manners, boy! Manners!"

He rises and offers her his chair.

"I was not aware that we were to serve as escorts, but I will gladly do my all too keep you safe from harm."

Haverdasher looks a little sick as Tucker describes his powers, but he holds his tongue for now. It wouldn't do to address the boy's shortcomings in front of a lady. He'll wait until a more opportune time to see to the boy's training.

Elariel thinks about Tuker's question for a moment or two before answering.
"My brother, Ellyrion, can hide, and Seth, the barbarian can fight, and Ellyrion and I can use magic, but we don't have a healer, or someone who can persuade people very well. It would seem that it's up to you, but if you can switch between them, perhaps you can be the one we need when we need it?"

At that point, Haverdasher reacts, and Elariel goggles at him.
"Greetings, Sir Haverdasher. I've never had such a polite greeting. It's certainly a change from the norm, but you aren't here as escorts. You're here to help us do what we do."

Tucker scratches his nose, thoughtful, before turning in midair to face the blustery man. "Actually, that reminds me; what do you do? You seem to be the brawny militant type, but looks can be deceiving. You'd never look at me and think 'that guy can blast through solid iron', but then you'd be wrong."

He brushes his knuckles on his vest, a casual gesture, and dark red and black sparks of magical power sputter down to the floor.

You notice 124 not paying you much attention while you are talking, as it seems he is busy frowning and being generally annoyed at a very playful mouse. "Be careful with her in the city, you never know what a Worldspeaker can find out, even when shared in private." He tells the room.

Turning back to you, the clone speaks to Elariel. "You know, that paladin your brother spoke to? He went on investigating what happened to your village... He followed a lead regarding some cult and has vanished since. The church is mounting an expedition looking for him, but they are quite lost. Now, if I were them, I would start looking where he was last seen, but few people around warehouse 15, the one in the southern slums, are willing to talk to Pelorites..." He says with a shrug.

Seth

Chornellia tightens her lips as she pushes the knife into Seth's hands. She doesn't look happy regarding his tattoos, but she doesn't word an objection. When Seth is done, Chornellia takes the knife and holds the horn above Seth's head and begins dripping the warm blood over his shoulders, chanting. Then, she lowers it and wraps Seth's hands around it, lifting it to his mouth, motioning for him to drink. There is about half a horn left with the blood, and it seems like she wants Seth to drink it all.

Elariel frowns.
"Hm... that might be worth investigating. I was, in retrospect, a little harsh with him, and if he really was trying to help, then a rescue could be helpful. However, didn't they try asking their god? I thought gods were supposed to be aware of their followers actions? Unless that is blocked. Thank you for the information."

"Gods are not supposed to get involved, and things are rarely straightforward when cults are involved... If a god or a sunguise get involved in the works of mortals, it sets a precedent for others." 124 says. "Of course, there is that the paladin went on his own and didn't involve his betters. I suspect he was afraid that your accusations might be true, so he did not wish to risk the chance that if there is corruption within, those responsible could hide their tracks. The clergy doesn't wish to invest many resources into the rescue, or it will be seen as though they condone their agents leaving off their own volition, which could break the hierarchy of the church quite quickly. Those who do try the rescue do it with their own resources and take the same risk, and this isn't condoned by the church either." The clone shrugs.

"That's what they say in public..." Mouse says, sitting up from her animal form. "The inquisition wing holds law above else, but it is not the true pelorite way. Behind the scenes, the church does has agents looking into it. They aren't as effective as a well aimed hunter, but not many things are."

The young woman, short and petite, with brown hair reaching just under her jawline and so barely kept she seems a little boyish, looks at the two new hunters. She smiles, "hey there, I'm Mouse." She introduces herself. "I'm one of the Eye's agents, espionage and coach driving is my game, but I know where to stick the pointy end of a knife. Though I'm not a shadow master like Ovel..." She giggles.

Elariel nods in agreement.
"Cults are often rather... strange. People getting togeather because they have no place in normal society, and trying to change things so they do are iffy. However, as a paladin is already the servant of a god, doesn't the mere act of choosing a paladin imply divine interference? Regardless, if my words set him on his path, than rescuing him does seem to be my responsibility."
She looks like she is about to comment on the law of the inquisition, but she chooses to forbear, not wanting to start a pointless argument. Instead, she chooses to go with a simple greeting.
"It's good to see you, Mouse."

Haverdasher seems rather perturbed by all of this. Things just aren't going the way he thinks they should, and it's making his head hurt.

"Gods? Cultists? Churches? This..." he stumbles for a moment before his eyes light up with understanding.
"Ah! I understand! We are meant to be the first wave in a new crusade against the Infidel. Yes, a noble cause indeed."

It's only after considering her words that the mouse turning into a person actually registers in his mind. "Witchcraft!" Haverdasher grabs the hilt of his sword but doesn't draw it, looking to his allies for the moment to judge how to react. After all, he's a guest here, and he won't be the first to break the laws of hospitality, especially against a woman.
