I have a question whether the ongoing damage from Cruel Cut Style will gain the energy type of the weapon that was used for it.

For example a fighter using a radiant weapon/Sunblade hits the enemy for 1[W]+mods and Wis mod ongoing. Would the ongoing damage get the radiant type as well as the base damage increasing the ongoing damage to Wis mod +10 (ongoing).

Relevant radiant cheese info below. If the Sunblade/Radiant weapon does not work can you think of any other tricks that do.

So, the answer is yes, but it's a little bit of a trap anyway. It's potentially worth a feat if the fighter involved is not the morninglord, but if you are, you should be focusing on painting as many targets with vulnerability as you can. Also, WotC hugely over-estimated the value of ongoing damage, valuing it at about 1.5x the value of normal damage, while the actual value in play hovers around 75% normal damage. This is why most powers with ongoing damage are dailies that do bad instant damage. Why is ongoing worse than the same amount of damage right now? Because focus-firing is the best party tactic, and particularly as a fighter in the middle of the fray, your party is relatively likely to kill the thing you gave ongoing to before its turn, unless it's a solo, at which point the ongoing made no difference.

WIS can be fine for a fighter anyway, but don't take it for the purposes of this ongoing damage, which, with a non-you morninglord, Pelor's sun blessing, and your sword, will already do non-trivial amounts of damage (when it gets a chance to deal damage at all).

On the other hand, this could be useful for the perennial "two-person party" threads that pop up. Fighter nails something and its takes 15+ radiant a turn, then moves onto the next target the Morninglord painted for him.
