Hey everybody,

I'm putting together a list of things a college wizard and his mates might do when they arent studying arcane mysteries in the controlled conditions of the classroom, both legit and shady. I'd like to kee it to cantrips and 1st level spells if used (which is the main idea) but some 2nd level spells might be usable too.

I've got a couple already:
- familiar/summoned creature/animated object battles (either the pokemon kind or the pitfight kind)
- magical power contests (mage hand arm westling, unseen servant weights, etc)
- floating disk racing/boarding
- silent image/ghost sound shows
- pranks. All the pranks (ghost sound, silent image, mage hand, prestidigitation, etc)
- gambling & gaming (prestidigitation)

Does anyone else have any cool ideas for thins college mages can do in their spare time?

That was fast. It never is. This is the reason why we don't use summon monster.

Sir Pimpington? It sounds like my perennial NPC. :smalltongue:

- Compare variations in unseen servant that allow the invisible force to perform tasks that it normally can't. Ever seen an invisible force do burlesque?

- Devise means to get the skull of a mindless skeleton to repeat complex arcane formula that it didn't know in life. Ever tried to get an Int -- creature to repeat Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle?

- Engage in chess matches using summoned creatures. Must beat opponent before your summons expire. Ever tried to get checkmate with a bunch of disappearing celestial monkeys?

- For those with high Int, use on-the-fly cryptography to encode normal speech. Listeners must mentally--not magically--decode the messages within the time limit/before their fellows. Ever tried a hexadecimal conversion of elven alphanumerical codes without using quill and parchment?

- Eat exotic, illusory foods that can never make them fat. In the same vein, engage in guilt/consequence-free...adult behavior, alone or in groups (or alone with an illusory group). Ever....

I can probably come up with more, but I'm eager to see what others have thought of.

That pretty much sums up my character. Hes a sorcerer that pretends to be a wizard and made it through the academy with the minimum effort, wasting his free time screwing around instead of studying.

You really should work the word Pimpington in somewhere.

That just makes the makeup, costumes, and performance more evocative. Eyeliner, girls! Make those beauties pop!

Dibs on the Hare Hare Yukai ripoff.

As for more suggestions that are less serious than my previous ones....

Potions that can be created as oils. Cause, you know, oils are useful for...stuff.

Magical beer. Because hope lives on forever.

Magical hallucinogens. Because all of that BoVD stuff seems really soft-core.

Magical Fight Club. Mindrape covers the first rule of Fight Club.

Dude, 10/10.

Also, they might so some normal things, or even normal epic things.

-Beer pong
-telekinetic beer pong
-Fire ball beer pong

The possibilities are endless.

Brewing/researching the Dragon Magazine #302 side effects can open up a lot of potential for pranks even though they only last a hour. Turn a fellow classmate black with light grey hair in an elven college. Moonshine AKA the Intoxicating and Blinding Sickness side effects. Singing and Lisp side effects on your teacher, true the will save of 13 is unlikely to succeed, but when it does, oh the hilarity. Hair growth potions for the ladies and the beard growth potions the boys replace them with(3ft long beards). Grass growth... because you can never have too much bamboo in the classroom.

Disguise Self+Potion of Glibness. If you can't think of at least a dozen possible applications for this combo, you probably will never pass Illusion 101.

Get a bully to follow you into a broom closet. Proceed to escape said closet, shut the door, and cast Hold Portal. Later, when he eventually escapes and is understandably furious with you, cast charm person on him to make him your friend just because you can.

Charm Person...because other reasons.

Cast any of the following on your local muggles: Hypnotism, Sleep, or Darkness.

Erase the arcane equation on the chalk board. Proceed to hide the chalk and cast Obscure Object on it.

Message for passing along notes in class.

Enlarge Person and Reduce Person...for reasons.

True Strike. I.e. Increased Spitwad Accuracy.

Protection from Arrows. I.e. Protection from Spitwads.

Fog Cloud, Mage Armor, and Shield. I.e. Additional Protection from Spitwads.

Cause Fear. Flee muggles! Fleeee!!!

Shocking Grasp. "Hey, sir? May I give you a hand?"*Bzzzt!*

Should we include Grease in this list as well?

Well...it has already been mentioned. Also, Disguise Self + a potion of Glibness + a scroll (or potion) of Tongues and you could impersonate just about anyone *shivers at the thought*.

Use prestidigitation to make it look like someone soiled himself/herself.
Edit: Bonus points if you have the above combo active and make it appear as though the person you impersonated is responsible for the prestidigitation prank. Double bonus points if you impersonated a professor.

I feel like hazing would get obscenely out of hand. Imagine that at a wizard college, the tabletop gaming group is having a gaming night and they suggestion another kid to play a straight Fighter 20. *Shudders* The cruelty.

The spell Stench, if you can't think of a use you're not trying hard enough.

Stick one of the BoEF "tools" to anything else for comical effect.

Cast Resize on a roommate's shoes.

Footpad's Grace and Deftness with the Camouflage side effect to help get away with some of these suggestions.

Flag to mark teammates, or humiliate targets depending on the design you choose.

Tongue Growth for... reasons.

Amnesia, only 1d10 minutes but just think of the applications.

Tiny Voice on the professor.
