“If you are going through hell, keep going.”
― Winston Churchill

“Never confuse a single defeat with a final defeat.”
― F. Scott Fitzgerald

Descended from the union of humans and dwarves, the Half-Dwarf has the stature, agility, and mental flexibility of their Human parents; coupled with the physical resilience and the endurance of their Dwarven parents- a rare combination of qualities that make them more than a simple blend of two races.
Though they come from the union of Humans and Dwarves, this is actually a rare union, due to many Human cultures believing in having "Pure Blood" to survive in life. The Half-Dwarves also have another problem, besides the majority of Half-Dwarves living entire lives without meeting another Half-Dwarf; the Half-Dwarves are infertile, not able to reproduce like other Half-Races, due to a common genetic problem.
Resembling powerfully built Humans, they are slightly shorter than the average man. Females, while not as heavily muscled, are tall, strong, and athletic. Half-Dwarves have no collective racial identity, like Half-Elves, usually adopting the dress and style of their homes. However, they are fond of tattoos, and favor simple geometric patterns rather than depictions of creatures or objects.
Half-Dwarves have a lifespan similar to their Human parents, though they usually live around 230 years.

Gender Base Height Height Modifier
Male 4’5” +2d8
Female 3’9” +2d8

Gender Base Weight Weight Modifier
Male 130 lbs. x(2d4) lbs.
Female 100 lbs. x(2d4) lbs.

The dice roll given in the Height Modifier column determines the character’s extra height beyond the base height. That same number multiplied by the dice roll or quantity given in the Weight Modifier column determines the character’s extra weight beyond the base weight.

Adulthood: 20 years

Medium-Sized; No bonuses or penalties due to size.
Half-Dwarf base land speed is 30 feet. However, Half-Dwarves can move at this speed even when wearing medium or heavy armor or when carrying a medium or heavy load (unlike other creatures, whose speed is reduced in such situations).
Darkvision: Half-Dwarves can see in the dark up to 60 feet. Darkvision is black and white only, but it is otherwise like normal sight, and dwarves can function just fine with no light at all.
+2 racial bonus on saving throws against poison.
+2 racial bonus on saving throws against spells and spell-like effects.
Half-Dwarves gain the Endurance feat as a bonus feat at 1st level.
Dwarven Blood: Half-Dwarves are considered to be both Humans and Dwarves, for the purposes of effects and prerequisites.
Starting Languages: Common and Dwarven; Bonus Languages: Any (except for any secret languages, such as Druidic).
Favored Class: Any. When determining whether a multiclass Half-Dwarf takes an experience point penalty, her highest-level class does not count.

Ability Score Increase. Your Constitution score increases by 2. Also, choose one other ability score of your choice; that ability score increases by 1.
Age. Half-Dwarves mature around the age of 20, living a long age of around 300 years.
Alignment. Half-Dwarves tend to be of Neutral or Lawful alignments, following the tendencies of their Dwarven parent.
Size. Half-Dwarves are slightly shorter than their Human parent, with males standing around 5’4” and females standing around 4’5” on average. Your size is Medium.
Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet. Also, your speed is not reduced when wearing heavy armor.
Darkvision. Accustomed to life underground, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
Dwarven Resilience. Your Dwarven blood gives you the same famous resilience as your Dwarven ancestors. You have advantage on saving throws against poison, and you have resistance against poison damage.
Endurance. You begin proficient in Constitution saving throws. Also, you are proficient in the Strength (Athletics) skill.
Languages. You can understand, speak, and are literate in the Common and Dwarven languages.

So, what do you guys think? Any Suggestions/Advice/Ideas/Criticism?
This has been yet another race created because of boredom. :smalltongue:

Works for me. To better facilitate adding half-dwarves to an existing fantasy world, you might want to say something like half-dwarf births are extremely rare -- that while humans and dwarves can have children, it just doesn't happen very often. Also it might be useful to state half-dwarves are infertile and can't have any children of their own. It would help to explain how there could be half-dwarves and yet, no one's ever heard of them or thought they could even exist. Also - making half-dwarf characters infertile makes for an interesting and different plot point, you could wrap a quest around finding a magical or divine means of countering that infertility if a character really wanted to have kids.

Just a thought. Good work.

Interesting idea for lore, and it makes sense.
*thinks*
UPDATED: Lore specifies that Half-Dwarves are infertile.

Seem prety co- wait a second... HALF DWARVES WITH HAIR, THEY MUST BURN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ha no but seriusly they seem pretty well built. Only problem is that in one section you say 130 plus 1d% and in another you say 300 is there maximum age. So yeah 70 year diffrence, Its not a big problem but if that isnt intentional I thought I should point it out.

It wasn't really intentional, but I was writing lore for them and it happened. Corrected the written lore.
