Issue One: A Small Weedle Problem

The tales of the world of Pokemon are as old as time. Tales of courage and valor, loves lost and lives saved and the great sacrifices all heroes must endure. Pokemon who become great through the sweat of their brow, becoming paragons of truth and virtue. Others, having gained that strength, turn from that path, using their strength to exploit those weaker than they, abusing their power. In a world where almost anybody can become great such a thing is no minor feat.

Of all the cities of the Pokemon world, one stands out. Midway City, a land of both opportunity and hope as well as oppression and tyranny. A land where a man may pull himself up by his bootstraps and become one of the great powers of the city. Or, on the other hand, the man may find himself in the gutter after angering the wrong man. Two sides of the same coin in the tapestry of life that is Midway.

So go forth! A new Pokemon legend is about to unfold! A world of dreams and adventures with Pokemon awaits!

It is what can only be described as a typical day in Midway City. The sun is above, light filtering through the haze of smog and the clouds above. Great masses of Pokemon run, roll and fly about on their business, accompanied by a cacophony of buzzes, chirps and, in some cases, whistles. While the other cities tend towards a Type or type of Pokemon, Midway is what can only be described as a melting pot. Tall Pokemon, short Pokemon, Fire Pokemon, Water Pokemon, even a handful of Fairy Pokemon dash about as they pursue their own personal quest of life.

Of course, with all the noise, it's almost difficult to hear the shrieking cries for help among the crowd...

Rakka was flying through the crowds and the smog, trying to keep a breakneck pace while weaving through as many signs and Pokemon as he could. There was this one spot where a billboard for Machoke Bros. Spa and Massage Parlor crossed right under an overhanging roof across the street, creating a perfect bottleneck. If Rakka could close his wings at just the right second, he could make it through without losing any speed. Taking a deep breath, he dove in...

And quickly snapped his wings open once more, cursing. A Pelipper had chosen just that moment to swoop across the street, fouling his shot. "Hey, I'm flyin' here!" Lousy big-beaked bubbler...

As he was stopped, Rakka's ears picked up the cry for help somewhere below him, and his mood changed in an instant. "Finally, somethin' to do!" He crowed, flipping around and going into a steep dive, beak pointed straight at where he had heard the disturbance.

Detective Sparky was out on lunch break. Picking up his usual sandwich, the Larvesta paid and gave his usual nod to the proprietor. It was one of the few establishments that actually allowed him to do business there. Of course, the whole hostage situation thing a year ago might have helped with that. At the minimum, Sparky could not complain, Mime Sr's Diner was a fine establishment, their milkshakes were simply to die for. As he walked out, his ears picked up the sound of someone crying for help. Seriously? Whoever was threatening that pokemon couldn't wait just three minutes until he finished his sandwich?

Nevertheless, he still had a duty to protect Midway City's citizens, even if it involved beating the crap out of someone else. The fact that it almost always ended with someone getting the crap beat out of them by the vicious Larvesta hardly factored into it. Either way, the Larvesta went on his way to the scene, jetting fire through his horns to propel him through the air, figuring moving through the air is faster than on the ground.

Barba was wandering through midway city, flipping through the newest list of convicts that the city had posted as open season for bounty hunters. Several were out of his league (for now), but there was a pair of Diglett burglars that looked fun to chase down. It had been a while since he'd gone after burrowers, and he found that they presented a ... unique set of challenges for his particular skillset.

Just as he began to mentally list some of the places he could start investigating, he heard the screaming from further up the street. While it was quite honestly none of his business what was going on, the incident sparked his interest. No use in getting caught up in it if there was violence however. H'ed prefer to watch from a distance. Barba quickly scanned the area for a fire escape, balcony, or other easily reachable vantage point that he could watch the action from.

Humming to herself chipperly, Lydia floated her way down the busy streets; appreciating at that moment more keenly her new found state. Rush hour had always been most dreadful, and she found the sky ways a far more interesting route the ever shifting sea of bodies that poured forth from every street. Why if all went well she might even have some spare time to spend in her parlor to focus on her next work!

...assuming she managed to get through her next batch of paperwork any way. Whoever said that life got easier once you were dead was blowing smoke up their bum.

As she ruminated on the fate that awaited her a spike of panic caught her attention, whirling about suddenly towards its source and starling several of her fellow wayfarers; by the time she could clearly hear the scream, Lydia was already flying as swiftly as she could. The fear and urgency drawing her towards the victim like a moth to a flame; casting way any sense of propriety in her mad dash, and hoping she wasn't too late.

Lydia, Rakka and Sparky

As the three Pokemon fly through the city, intent on finding the source of the disturbance they find not a mugging, not a bank robbery and not even a young Skitty in a tree.

The source of the disturbance is a Beedrill that more closely resembles a Snorlax than one of her kind, covered in gaudy jewels and plastered with (now tear-streaked) makeup. She flies about, buzzing and shrieking incoherently, screaming at the hordes of Pokemon simply passing her by.

"MY BABY! THEY TOOK MY BABY!"

As the three of you near her, obviously showing even cursory signs of interest, instantly causes the Beedrill to latch on to you like a Remoraid to a Mantine, the behemoth of a Bug Type nearly slamming into the four of you as she flies closer. While bugs often smell interesting due to pheromones, the perfume on this one is almost enough to make you gag.

"YOU HAVE TO SAVE MY BABY!"

The emotions of the Beedrill are overwhelming, to say the least. The sheer panic of the Beedrill is almost enough to make your head spin, although the crowd around seems to be particularly impassive to the display, something that is somewhat odd considering the circumstances.

Barba

Finding a vantage point in Midway City is rarely an issue, a fact that makes the life of a sniper considerably easier. It takes little more effort than a hop skip and a jump to be on a balcony that is fairly low to the ground, providing a vantage point across the area while still remaining close enough to the ground in the case of a chase.

The scene can only be described as bizarre. One of the most morbidly obese Beedrill you have ever seen flies about desperately, massive stingers coming quite closer to accidentally jabbing a bystander more than once. Most simply give the crazed Beedrill a wide berth, although three individual Pokemon all fly towards her. The act seems to only make the Beedrill more panicked and, even through the huge crowd, you are able to make out an ear-piercing shriek, although what the Beedrill is attempting to say is next to impossible.

At first, Barba wasn't interested in what was happening. There wasn't a fight, nor did there seem to be a target from his lovely book to take down. Just some crazy bug ranting about something. However, some of his most challenging jobs came from a nearly insane Froakie, who set seemingly impossible standards for his job requests. The bug could turn out to have an interesting story, and such hysteria could easily turn itself into a job. Had she been robbed, threatened, had a friend be murdered? The possibilities were endless, and all presented an interesting job for him. His hopes weren't high (she'd probably just paid for an overpriced lunch or something, bugs were like that at times), but he didn't have anything better to do. He quickly went back to the street level and began to wind his way closer to the situation.

"Woah now!" Rakka winged away a bit from the chubby Beedrill, anxious to get out of the cloud of weird perfume around her. "I--ah--we can't help much without somethin' more to go on. Trust me, ma'am, they can't outrun me." Rakka glanced at the two other Pokemon who had flown in as he began talking, ending by flexing his wings in case any pretty Bird Pokemon were watching. "So, who took the little sna--er, the little tyke?"

GAAH!! Sparky did everything he could to try to get as much distance from this clingy and hysterical Beedrill as best he could. Too close, too close!

When he finally got loose, he took a moment to brush the feeling of contact out of his fur while he did his best to regain his composure. Please calm down ma'am, i'm with the Midway City Police. Could you please tell me which way the kidnapper went?

Lydia winced slightly as the font of raw panic, and that most garish scent, surged towards her and a pair of poor mon that had been caught with her. TO say she was surprised to be in the company of an officer of the law would be an understatement, but took comfort from the fact it meant there was an expert on the job in case this proved more serious than a child having gotten sidetracked somewhere down the line.

"Easy now sugar, deep breaths; help's already here," she said soothingly in hopes of calming the frantic mother down from from "blind panic" all the way down to "significant concern".

With a quick hop you easily reach the ground once again and are soon near the conversation. For some reason people tend to give a Cacnea a wide berth, making it somewhat easier to pass through a crowd.

"SHE did!" the Beedrill cries, voice nearly as piercing as the Beedrill's stingers. "That rotten, no good Caterpie! She's had it out for my baby for months now and she stole him away!"

When Sparky mentions being a member of the police the Beedrill calms slightly, although all her focus shifts to the Larvesta, making it a net loss for him.

"I don't know officer!" she says, clearly beginning to panic again. "Normally kidnappers ask for a ransom, right? It's been a day and there's been nothing! Nothing at all! Do you think he's dead? Oooooooooh, my baby's dead!" the Beedrill cries, momentarily breaking down into sobs.

"The Caterpie lives with a big colony in a warehouse to the south," the Beedrill says, gesturing with a pincer and nearly impaling Rakka. "It's called The Cocoon or something vulgar like that," she says, shifting from sobs to disdain without a single pause. "Please, rescue my baby and arrest that no-good Caterpie whore!"

"Warehouse, south, Cocoon, got it," Rakka responded, twisting acrobatically out of the way of the scything stinger. "Catch you all there, if I'm not done before you catch up!" The young Pidgey arrowed away due south, travelling for several seconds before realizing that "south" wasn't exactly much to go on. A few seconds later, Rakka winged back, affecting an air of nonchalance. "I thought I'd give you all a chance to come along. Whenever you're all ready, I guess."

As the Pidgey winged off, Barba turned around and began walking away from the scene. He was gone before the bird returned. The Cacnea had all the information he needed to relieve the boredom he felt after a job. He'd never done a kidnapping before, so this could be a bit fun. Besides, things would be more interesting if he finished before the other three got there. It'd be difficult to reach the warehouse before the flyers, but it would be worth it for the challenge. Besides, if the bug diva ended up offering a reward, then there was no reason to split it with three others. It seemed that they were chatty, and he could use that time to gather information and find the warehouse.

As he walks, he makes some general inquries about the Cocoon, being sure to ask most of the bug pokemon he saw.

Gather Information check rolled 24.

I don't plan on being a loner forever. It just doesn't make sense for Barba to be buddy buddy with random mons he doesn't know yet, and this shouldn't slow down stuff since I'm still headed to the same place.

It takes a few tries to find anything out about The Cocoon but, after inquiring of a few Pokemon you soon find a group of younger Paras that know where it is. Apparently it is a rather popular hang-out spot for younger Bug Types, although they seem somewhat reluctant to actually disclose what goes on at said location. Still, after some persuasion (and a small fee) the Paras happily give you the location. It's in the main warehouse district to the south in the southwest corner of said lot. It should be identifiable by a broken down "PhoxCorp Industries" sign as well as a large amount of webbing around it.

Technically, Well-Informed does not apply to locations. Also, in the future, please post in the IC when using Well-Informed just so things aren't quite as disjointed.

While The Cocoon on its own means next to nothing to you the mention of Caterpie coupled with that rings a few bells. You remember hearing reports of a group of homeless Caterpie teens in the warehouse district to the house that hang around an abandoned PhoxCord warehouse. They seem to have made the location their personal clubhouse and, while young and trespassing the police have essentially let the Caterpie be. Besides some petty theft (usually from vending machines) and other extremely minor crimes the group is almost spotless, making a reported kidnapping odd to say the least.

Thank you ma'am. Sparky says, trying to maintain his professionalism in spite of his discomfort. Also, please head to the police station when you get the chance. With that, and the ignition of his horns again, Sparky takes off for the warehouse district, looking specifically for the old PhoxCord warehouse.

"Oh! You know know who the kidnapper might be, or why she took your son? Anything you tell us might help us find her and your son," she asked before she on instinct, eyeing the the others that had gathered to help the girthy beedrill. She had her suspicions of what was happening, and if she was right...well she'd certainly be one of the best people to talk the the woman's son; certainly she could put off her plans for the evening for that.

Once she had her answer, Lydia was quick to join Raka and Sparky; figuring it was only natural for the group to try to help each other solve this mess.

Rakka easily kept pace with the Larvesta, looking about for any signs of a warehouse. He got bored quickly, however, and started testing his speed, looping and twisting through obstacles while always keeping the Larvesta in sight. "So..." he asked after a while, flying up next to Sparky, "Where in the city is this warehouse, anyways?"

Emperor Ing
2014-10-24, 01:40 PM
Southern part of town. Sparky remarks. But we're not going to The Cocoon. There's a semi-abandoned warehouse in the same area owned by PhoxCord that Caterpie vagrants like to congregate. While it's technically trespassing, PhoxCord never complained so we leave them alone. They generally stay out of trouble aside from the occasional petty theft.

I can't say if her Weedle will be there, but it's a lead worth investigating, because someone might know something there.

Barba

You hurriedly make your way through the city, your spines helping you navigate through crowds significantly faster than you would normally be able to. In short order you've reached the warehouse district. As you push further and further into the district a few of the resident Fighting Types that work the area glare at you or seem about to ask you business but, fortunately, none bother to.

As you get further and further into the district more and more of the warehouses are abandoned or unworked. By the time you begin to see a few of the old PhoxCorp ones you're probably at least halfway into the district, although these actually seem to still be in use. Finally, after quite a long time, you find an apparently abandoned warehouse with quite a bit of webbing on it, a sure sign of Bug Types. The three Pokemon from earlier are there as well, floating overhead, although they don't seem to have seen you yet.

Others

"Oh thank you!" the Beedrill cries, clumsily attempting to hug you to no avail. "You can't know what this means to me!"

"And she tried to steal my baby because she's evil! She doesn't want money so she must want to corrupt him with her plebeian ways!" the Beedrill cries, looking like she's about to faint before she flies off towards the police station.

The group quickly flies through the city, making good progress under the guidance of Sparky. It doesn't take too long until the party finds themselves in the warehouse district, an area that seems to be bustling with activity. A great deal of large Fighting Types roam about the area, moving crates about and maneuvering carts with a surprising amount of agility.

Of course, as you go further and further into the warehouse district the activity becomes less and less as a greater number become abandoned. There are a handful of PhoxCorp ones about the area although only one fits the bit about there being webbing on the building. To all appearances it seems empty, although its hard to tell from this distance. The building itself is certainly old, with paint showing through to the concrete below almost everywhere and the old PhoxCorp logo almost too faded to see.

As you near the warehouse you see two large displacements of dirt, as if a sudden burst of air pushed the surrounding soil away, likely from some heavier Pokemon that can fly landing. There also seem to be a great deal of drag marks, all leading to one of the side entrances to the building.

So it looks like you three want in on official police business? Sparky looks to his impromptu companions. That's fine. I'll just have to fill you out as private investigators on the incident report. Though the Larvesta feels that vocalizing his concerns about any lack of respect or reverence they may have for tact and subtlety would be condescending, he still feels concerned that in the middle of a polite conversation with one of the Caterpie may devolve into a brawl, which in turn devolves into a mess of paperwork.

Continuing on, eyes alert for anything, Sparky makes his way for the warehouse.

You make it to the door of the warehouse without any issue, deftly navigating around some webbing that seems to have covered the ground. Soon enough you reach the door, only to see two of the fliers above begin to swoop down.

As you reach the door and begin to try to slowly open it you find that you can hardly pull it open a few inches before it's stuck, likely due to the copious amounts of webbing coating the back that you can barely see through the thin crack. Still, while the door isn't particularly accessible as an access route, you do manage to hear what's inside.

"Please, let me go!"
"Me too!"
"You better let me go too or I'll kick your butt!"

The voices are all high pitched, clearly indicating a younger Bug Type, likely in their early teens and still in their basic form.

"Shaddap!" a different voice shouts, this one much deeper, clearly belonging to an adult Pokemon and likely a large one. "If ya dirt whelps keep moanin' on about this it'll just be more unpleasa-"

The voice suddenly cuts off, as do the voices of the young bugs.

Rakka and Sparky

As the two of you make your way towards the entrance to the warehouse you see a small Cacnea slowly sneak towards the door, almost invisible until he is already at the door and attempting to open it, apparently to no avail.

Barba frowned at what he heard. He wasn't particularly a fan of people going after children. He glanced around quickly, but didn't notice any other obvious entrances, and the fliers had disappeared. He took a step back and shot a barrage of spines at the door, hoping to break it in. If this was all a huge mistake, well, the bugs weren't supposed to be here either, and he could push the damage off on them.

I'm just going to skip Regalus from now on until he's better from being sick.

Before Rakka can reach the door Barba opens up with a flurry of spines, the combined assault tearing through the wooden frame with abandon, leaving little behind save for a few large splinters hanging from giant webbing which, due to the fact that any remains, likely means that the web wasn't created by a young Bug Type.

Of course, the sheer volume inside the warehouse would suggest the same, as well as the large number of young Bug Types, some conscious, some slightly less so, trapped in the webbing all around the walls and floor. Other, primarily unconscious, lie trapped in metal cages with dozens of the Bug Types trapped in one small cage. As the door shatters the party is just able to see a Heracross hurriedly throw a handful of unconscious Caterpie in a cage, quickly slamming the door shut before any roll out. There appear to be quite a few cages with conscious Pokemon within them, including one with a rather large Caterpie throwing expletives at the captors.

As the door shatters all work stops and a Heracross, Scyther and Pinsir all turn towards the door, confused looks on the faces of the Heracross and Pinsir and a vicious grin on the face of the Scyther.

"Ey, boss? Are these guys why we needa be quiet?" it asks, cracking its knuckles as it moves in front of one of the many cages even as the Scyther rolls its eyes and begins to hover.

"What do you think you great oaf? Just take them out before they can make any noise!" the group hears from somewhere above, the source hidden among the vast amount of webbing and shadows. "We can't have any interference at this point! Herc, work on getting the cargo out! You two handle the others! They're half your size, it'll be a piece of cake!"

The Heracross begins to hover as well, clearly eying the ceiling, even as the Scyther and Pinsir turn towards the door, both beginning to charge the party.

These bugs could be worth some money, and the seven cities would sometimes pay Bounty Hunters a bonus for good samaritan work like this. However, three bugs would be tough for him, and he was happy that the three fliers were there to take some hits, although he had no intention of splitting the money with them. Lydia had the good grace turn bashful as SParky pointed out her impulsiveness at first before smiling good naturally at the detective, "Sorry 'bout that, but I don't think it'd be quite right to turn my back on her after she asked for help; you've got nothing to fear from me," she said courteously to the Larvesta as the three made there way to the scene.

Going into this Lydia thought this was a simple case; a son in love with someone his mother didn't approve of who'd finally had enough her nagging. It was something she could sympathize with, and she was hoping she'd be able to get help the two find some kind of understanding before either did anything too drastic. As Rakka flies into the warehouse, attempting to quickly take down the Heracross, the huge Pokemon simply flails an arm out, forcing Rakka to dodge wide and causing the Wing Attack to miss by a huge margin. The Heracross makes no indication that it even noticed the distraction, flying upwards at full speed and slamming into the ceiling, massive horn punching a hole right through the concrete and iron to expose a bright blue patch of sky even as the Heracross hovers inside the new hole, glaring at Rakka.

The Scyther, on the other hand, is far more talkative even as it is struck by flames and spines, the latter of which simply clatter off the thick carapace of the Pokemon. However, the former quite obviously leaves some marks, causing the Scyther to glare at the source with pure hatred.

"I just got this buffed you dirty bug!" the Scyther shouts, likely not appreciating the irony of a bug calling another bug dirty. "I'll chop you up and feed you to a Magikarp!"

With sudden, quick slices of his blades the Scyther seems to cut the air itself, razor sharp discs of air slamming into Sparky over and over again.

Even as Barba's spines clatter off the Scyther the Pinsir is already beginning its charge, leaping forward and swinging down with a long arm, claws searching for the Cacnea only to come far short as the sniper deftly rolls away, putting a few feet between himself and the hulking brown bug that towers over him.

Wishing to bring the violence to a swift end before anyone became seriously harmed Lydia stepped forward and did the only thing she could do; she sang. Phantasmal instruments strumming accompanying her voice as they filled the warring space with the harmonious melodies of her lullaby; a song of peace and rest filed with the hopes of ending this violence before blood could be shed.

That's right, keep digging. The Larvesta taunts. I can already run you in for Arceus knows how many counts of pokenapping, why don't we add Aggravated Assault of a Law Enforcement Officer and Resisting Arrest to your list of charges too? Fortunately, as he's taunting, he notices at the last moment, the air-blade rushing towards him. Sparky manages to jet fire from one of his horns as he avoids it last-second.
Good news! We're lowering the charge down to just Assault of a Law Enforcement Officer. Now burn! He says as he retaliates with a jet of flame.

Barba gritted his teeth. This was why he preferred outdoor battles: there was always more room to hide. Walls simply made it harder to shoot things. He focused both his arms on the oncoming Pinsir and targeted only the oncoming bug type.

As he heard the bug type prattling on about his status as a policeman. Things could get a bit hairy, but he had his bounty hunter credentials on him, so he should be fine.

I made an expertise bounty hunter last post to see if I recognized any of them. Did that come up with anything.

Spine Barrage vs Pinsir [roll0] (type disadvantage penalty included). If a hit, DC 20 (type disadvantage included). Multiattack single target, so possibly a higher DC with degrees of success.

The Heracross jets upward, intent on capturing the obnoxious bird, making up what he lacks in agility with sheer strength in his wings. He rises higher and higher, closing in on Rakka, only to receive the equivalent of a hurricane blast of air to the face. The beetle, inferior flier that it is, can't quite keep up with the force and begins to fall faster and faster, finally slamming into the ground with a sickening crunch, causing some of the conscious Bug Types below cry out as the massive bulk of the beetle almost crushes their cage.

The Pinsir, overextended from its last attack, can't quite pull its arms back to defend against the oncoming onslaught of needles and takes more than a few to its chest, the beast staggering backwards. It attempts to retaliate, multi-jointed arm slamming down where Barba should have been but, with the Pinsir slowed by the needles, dodging is an almost trivial matter.

As Sparky attempts to attack the Scyther a great fireball bellows forth from the Larvesta, creating an attack that even a (young) Volcarona might be proud of. As the flames near the Scyther the bladed beast begins to rapidly swing its blades and, in a matter of seconds, the great fireball had been reduced down to a more manageable flame that hardly does more than the previous blast.

"I'm going to cut you wide open," the Scyther reiterates, suddenly dashing forward before just as suddenly falling to the ground with a yawn, extremely groggy. It seems almost as if it's about to fall asleep, struggling to keep its eyes open. The Pinsir seems somewhat disabled as well, although that could be more from the difficulties of fighting with giant spines in you.

As the battle continues the darkness overhead is briefly lit up with a great flash of purple light. Lydia, after so successfully changing to tide of the battle, feels something tearing through her mind, like some sort of mental screech that there is no escape from.

As far as bounties, the Pinsir and Heracross seem to be nobodies to you. Dumb muscle at best, maybe minor bounties that are beneath even your notice.

The Scyther, on the other hand, is quite well known in the criminal underworld. He was a hitman at one point but, after a botched job, allegedly turned on his employer. Even since that point Billy the Blade has been on the run, taking whatever work he can get from those that need a good hitman more than a decent payout.

Rakka had instinctively spun out of the way of the Heracross's trajectory when he saw it coming. He reoriented just in time to hear the massive crunch as the bug Pokemon hit the cage. "Did I just..." Rakka whispered, his mouth gaping. Then his beak split into a grin, and he looped around the top of the warehouse, crowing. "Oh yeah! That's right, no one messes with the fastest Pidgey alive!" he saw the Scyther going after the Larvesta cop and, brimming with confidence, shot through the roof opening straight at the blade bug. "You're next, Pokey!"

Move Action: swing down past the Scyther, ending up next to the hole in the warehouse roof.

At the realization that the Scyther was a mark, Barba turned his attention from the Pinsir on the ground to the Scyther in the air. Those idiots are going to steal my bounty! Barba thought to himself as he saw the three fliers converge on the pokemon in the air. He spun quickly and crouched, aiming his arm up at the flying pokemon. Now was not the time for a spray of arrows. No; now was the time for a single, well placed strike that would hopefully take this pokemon out of the air. He aimed his shot carefully, making sure to line up his target. No use in taking a potshot and having it fly over the stupid bug's head.

Lydia releases a startled and pained cry as the attack ravages her unprepared mind; her prior training barely allowing the ghostly maiden to remain conscious in the wake of the ferocious screech which tore at her mind. With her sight swimming the lass allowed her spirit to find her assailant, the enemy's anger serving as a radiant beacon to her spiritual senses as she gathered her power.

"Psion up-top!" she cried out in pain as a dark crackling energy gathered inches away from her before coalescing into a spherical form darker than night and launching it's crackling form at her stalker. The onyx orbs path illuminated by phantasmal lights, highlighting its travel dramatically even as they attempted to illuminate the shadowy the depths where her attacker hid.

Even in its current, hardly conscious state the Scyther continues to attempt to fight, making an awkward leap to the side to dodge away from Rakka's lightning-fast attack and sending a hasty gust of wind at the flames to attempt to avoid the flames shot by the Larvesta, diverting them and causing them to come dangerously close to searing a small bunch of Caterpie.

Up above, the Shadow Ball goes far wide, missing the bundle of negative emotions by a wide margin. The lights do manage to hastily light up the dark for a brief moment, revealing a skittering, arachnid-like creature that hastily runs across a few stray pieces of webbing up above before its eyes glow purple again, sending another burst of psionic energy through the head of the Misdreavus.

Down below, the Pinsir slowly staggers up, finally shaking off Lydia's song. With a roar it charges at the Cacnea that isn't even bothering to pay it attention any more, head down and horns poised to charge. Before Barba can react the monster clamps the horns down the the Cacnea, ignoring the pain of the spines, and slams him down to the ground in a show of primal strength before rolling back to its feet, eyes murderous.

"Let us out! We can help!" a Caterpie in one of the cages shouts, headband with a large red dot on it almost covering her eyes.

Rakka winced as he saw the Cacnea get crunched. "Sorry, Red Dot," he called out to the Caterpie, starting to stir his wings once more. "It looks like Spiny over there needs my help!" With that, Rakka released the blast of air straight at the Pinsir, hoping for another spectacular takedown.

Feeling her spiritual body come under heavy strain from another psionic assault, Lydia decides to take a gamble; gritting her teeth in pain before heeding the caterpie's words, and rushing towards the cage.

"Stand back!" she called before using a smaller shadowball to try to bust upon the cage's lock and free them.
