My wife and I got into a discussion yesterday, which led to a question I can't find an answer to. Does a Monk's unarmed strike stack with race/template given natural weapons?

For example, say a razorclaw shifter takes a level of Monk. Does their unarmed attack do 1d4 (from claw)+1d8 (from Monk) + STR, or does it just do 1d8+STR?

First and foremost, this question belongs in the Simple Raw Thread for 3.5 (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?367727-Simple-Raw-Thread-for-3-5-28).

To answer your question, it does not stack in any way. The monk can use either one of his attacks, 1d4 for his natural attack OR 1d6 for him monk unnarmed strike.

This is what the Beast Strike feat (Dragon Magazine) is for. Adds claw damage to unarmed strikes.

That said, be very clear on the Monk's abilities. His unarmed strikes count as both natural and manufactured weapons. All unarmed strikes are natural weapons, but not all natural weapons are unarmed strikes; only unarmed strikes count for the Monk's unarmed strike bonus, and only unarmed strikes (and special Monk weapons) count for Flurry of Blows. (If you're playing Pathfinder, you can adjust that with Feral Combat Training (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/combat-feats/feral-combat-training-combat).)

But no. Ordinarily, you make your natural weapon attacks as secondary attacks (at a -5 penalty) in addition to your unarmed strikes.
