Names that aren't allowed

I recall the recent ruling about not changing certain posters' usernames, because they involved punctuation marks (Apostrophes, periods, ETC), which do cause problems to the site, or have the potential to.

My question is, what do we do if we see posters that have a username like this? I've seen a username that was just 3 periods in a row. Should I report people like this, so that the mods can contact them about a name-change? Or do I just leave them be?

Sheriff: Feel free to report them. We're not going to change names to things that might cause database problems, but whether we're going to affirmatively force name changes on people probably depends on a variety of factors.

But as with anything, if you think it's a problem, report it. We can always look at it and act or not act accordingly.
