Ah this stickler of a DM of mine >.<
He said wizard 5/geometer1 has a BAB of +2. Is this true? Both have 1/2 BAB progression so it should be 3, but he said it doesn't work like that. Wizards get a BAB bonus on levels 2, 4, 6, etc. and geoemters get BAB at levels 2 and 4. Because I didn't get my 6th wizard level, I'm stuck wiht a +2 and a +0.

Who is right? Is it +3 or +2?

Fractional BAB is a (very sensible) variant rule. Using that variant, your calculation is correct. Otherwise his is. If he's not aware of the variant you might find it and show it to him. It really is very reasonable.

Larrx is correct. The default by-the-book rule is that your BAB only increases when the chart says it does; thus a Cleric 1/Rogue 1/Monk 1/Bard 1/Sorceror 1/Wizard 1 would have a BAB of zero, where the varient rule would give them BAB 4.

One upshot of the default rule is that your saving throws will be quite large from getting so many +2's, as the fractional BAB varient is sometimes combined with fractional saves.

Pretty sure the fractional saves rules does keep the +2's you get at the first level of other classes.

I don't have Unearthed Arcana handy right now, but I'm pretty sure that the sidebar that introduces the fractional BAB/Saves does mention that if you are using them you should rule that you only get the "+2 good save bonus" once per saving throw.

Just checked my unearthed arcana and the fractional base bonuses section does not mention the +2's gained from multiclassing, but it DOES seem to keep them in the Cleric 5/Fighter 2 example it gave.

For example, in a standard game, a 5th-level cleric/2nd-level fi ghter would have base save bonuses of Fort +7, Ref +1, Will +4. In this variant, the same character would have Fort +7 (rounded down from +7-1/2), Ref +2 (rounded down from +2-1/3), and Will +5 (rounded down from +5-1/6).

The second instance is only possible if it is keeping the +2 to fort saves given at the first level of fighter, otherwise it would have a fort save of +5.5 (rounded down to +5)

Alright, thanks. I'll show him this thread and see if I can change his mind.

Like they said, he's right, unless using the variant rule.
