I think everyone here has seen this (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0763.html) comic and probably loved it as much as me. Can anyone think of a book, or a tv show or movie where there is a villain like this? One who is fully aware of the eventual result of his path in life but doesnt care because the rest of his life will be power and glory until the destined hero finally manages to show up and win.

princess tutu (an anime) is founded basically around the principle, and unlike oots, the metafictional aspect isn't just used for humorous asides, but forms an important theme with the plot, which is loosely structured around swan lake.

"last action hero" a schwarzenneager movie where schwarzenneager plays himself in a schwarzenneager movie and a kid from the normal world hops in and begins using his genre savvy eventually has to deal with a bad guy like this.

the bioshock infinite story (bioshock infinite and burial at sea parts 1 and 2) has elements of this in it (not mentioning names, because, necessarily, it invokes spoilers) but it's also a very good example.
