How do folks think the balance of the game would feel if only sorcerers and favored souls could use the majority of metamagic feats.

Am not saying all of them and am not going to list which ones wizards and clerics could have access to.

But what do you folks think?

Clerics and Wizards would still be T1 because of the sheer wealth of tricks available to them, although Clerics would have a harder time CoDzillaing. Druids would be unaffected. Sorcerers would still be T2, and would still be the premier source for blasting. Favored Souls would also still be T2, and would also still be unused, because the lack of Turn Undead means they don't get a good source of Divine Metamagic. I'd imagine that Favored Soul/undead-turning PrC would become a more popular gishing choice, though.

Warmages become even worse. Beguilers don't care as much. Spirit Shamans stay the same mostly. The Rods of Extend used on hour/level buffs would turn to Pearls of Power and be bought later. Not much would change, overall.

This gets trickier, the more casters you apply to the theory, but Sorcerers are already generally more inclined to use metamagic than prepared casters, outside of DMM. You'd fundamentally be eliminating most DMM usage, and probably altering the balance of list casters, as well as Bards. Dread Necromancers would have a somewhat harder time debuffing at range, or with some of the Uttercold Assault Necromancer tricks, for example.
