Nice, Pasron's made a friend. And is it just me, or are those some awesome chambers? Loved the picture of one of the titans on the wall and the teddy-bear skin rug.

Yet another win for Erfworld!

Notice the gwiffon head on the wall? Or the skull candle holder?

Nice bear rug too.

You gotta do what you gotta do when you're in a fantasy world and have to take a boop.

I seriously love Parson's approach to his situation; he's really thinking it through, down to the basics.

Just like any true gamer/nerd would. Makes me proud...

Wow, look at the critter heads! There's a gwiffon, and is that a dwagon, or a giant snake? And what's that the candle's stuck on, a skull, or a marbit head? Then there's a dead cloth golem. The whole room's just stuffed with trophies!

Nice room. I'm also glad Parson is finally learning the basics. Will we too? I hope so.

So... Are Foolamancer some kind of illusionists? And thinkamancers a type of enchanters?

Well. I really need to resist this urge to compare Erfworld Magic System with D&D's one.

One thing I find interesting...

Wanda didn't seem to understand that 'Boop' can mean different words. Case in point 'You'll only end up saying that word again', as though it is the same word with the same meaning.

Our Dirtomancer seems to have glomed onto the fact that boop can sometimes mean... what he deals with most of the time... even though that particular word was not fitting in every situation where Boop was used in that conversation.

And seriously, what warlord worth the price of hire would *NOT* be interested in reality-warping magic which can turn the tide in battle if used correctly, if for no other reason than studying it to try and find ways to counter it's use in war. Oh wait, that's right, he didn't really have any warlords worth anything, except perhaps Manpower the Ready. You've got the fat lady which sung, Leroy Jenkens of WoW fame, and a Redshirt... not a very good warlord selection up until now.

Given that Lookamancers are some kind of scrying wizards, I'm guessing that thinkamancers are mind-readers, and Foolamancers, as Nazzo suggested, are illusionists. All under the generic title of "Eyemancy" which deals with perception and divining thing present (as opposed to the future). It's interesting: mages in Erfworld seem to be incredibly specialised.

This was ... possibly my favorite Erfworld yet. (Not that I'm a huge fanatical fan anyway.)

Room decorations? Excellent. Puns of "boop"? Excellent. True nerddom? Excellent.

"Magic item?"
"You wish."

Ah, we may have to deal with saying '25 to 1' over and over again over the next few days, but it's always the guts that rule us in the end.

Did anyone notice Parson's font changed back to Earth font again?

Huh. The last panel shows a dwagon silhouetted against the moon, flying away from the tower. I wonder if it's significant, or there to look cool. Both, possibly.

The last three panels had me laughing until my belly hurt. Clever toilet humour is wonderful.

Hey, at least Sizemore's founda truly worthwhile use for his "Jack of all trades" knowledge. I wouldn't want anyone else giving me the basics, since he, yaknow, knows ALL the basics it seems.

You probably just need to refresh the page.

This was a beautiful and well-written strip. There's not much to talk about or speculate on, mostly because we weren't given much in the way of information--just a nugget of character development.

And that nugget is: Parson's face in panel 7. That is the face of happiness, hope, and determination wrapped into one. I think it's the first time we've seen Parson well and truly happy. (The strip with all the Princess Bride references doesn't count. There he was giddy and amused, but not quite happy.)

This strip shows that, true to his word, Parson really did want to escape into one of his board games and, despite the many difficulties and hardships of his situation (enslavement (to a megalomaniac tool), bound to fight a hopeless battle, chamber pots), is genuinely happy that his wish came true.

It may be a temporary condition, but somehow, I think he's already hit rock bottom and has nowhere to go but up.

This is turning into a really compelling universe. I wonder how long Rob and Jamie want to keep this up? Because with the pacing being what it is, the battle for Gobwin Knob alone could take a year to play out, and then what? I'd love to see what happens to Parson and the rest after this particular conflict plays out...

Actually, lights. In the first panel you can see all three lights on, and I think in the last panel, the baloon for "Boop" was covering one of them. My bet is on stanley for the third. Not that we'll probably find out for sure.:smallamused:

My favorite part about this strip was how chipper Sizemore was when talking to Parson. Before this, I found him to be a bit 2-dimensonally melancholy. Some great character development in this one.

Also, it looks like they pushed three mattresses together for their new Warlord.

This comic is fantastic.

I have been looking forward to Sizemore's return for pages and pages, and I have not been let down at all. Excellent work, a bit of plot development and a ton of character development, and a very strong scene-setting moment. One of the best pages of the comic to date... possibly the best. And funny to boot :elan:

Yeah... so now I'm hooked on Erfworld as well... just what I needed, another time thief. But the twice a week update is killing me. I'll pay you guys 200gp for 3 comics a week for a month. We can renegotiate at the end of this period. ^_^

Parson doing what i would do, not make any assumptions and work from the ground up to understand all the rules. The same nerdy tendencies that had me read the whole PHB cover to cover.

Interesting decor. Even the chair and the chamberpot have eyes!

Now why on Erf did the word(?) "Domo-Kun (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domo-kun)" spring to mind the instant I saw the chamber pot? :smallconfused:
(A: because I'm a popcultureamancer.)

The chair appears to be a Dwagon head.

Interesting plot development underway as well, as Lord Hamster learns the lay of the land (and the care and feeding of chamber pots).

The Elvis portrait has (to me anyway) distinctly Asian features. I wonder if it's a self portrait or caricature of Jamie.

I believe the word for things having faces like that is grotesques, or possibly grotesqueries.

I presume that that last sentence isn't referring back to Jamie or his possible self-caricature. :smallconfused:

Oh good grief no. I was referring to all the previous comments about different items having eyes or faces. Like the fireplace or chair.

From Dictionary.com

"gro·tesque

2. fantastic in the shaping and combination of forms, as in decorative work combining incongruous human and animal figures with scrolls, foliage, etc.

gro·tesque

1. A style of painting, sculpture, and ornamentation in which natural forms and monstrous figures are intertwined in bizarre or fanciful combinations."

Not a Dwagon, a sourmander. That would be consistant with the gwiffon on the wall and the cloth gollum carpet. Is there a tchokie in there anywhere?

Wanda was able to shout "Crap" as a punchline in EW06.

Will Parson ever discover that he can say "crap" instead of "boop"?

That might be a whole running gag. He can't say George Carlin's seven words, but booger, crap, barf, barfbag and so forth all need to be tried out still. Certainly a curious mind like his should be exploring this subject during downtime occasionally.

Meanwhile, Charles Shultz was able to write an entire comic strip for over 50 years, never going more blue than "Good Grief". Although he did use like font size 50 when he'd write it.

Question is, is that the only words that are edited in this universe? Notice that Parson uses the term croaked, despite being in this world for less then a day. Did he really mean to say we're all going to die', but it came out as croaked, or is he really fast at picking up new terminology?

Grant it, it is legitimate word from our world, but I still think most people would say die and not croak in this situation.

I fully expect this to be released as a tabletop strategy game when the comic is finished. THEN we can go back and pick apart the comic on how it didn't follow the rules.

I agree with Scientivore on that one specific case (except for the animated cartoons, which really are funny). But there is plenty of evidence that humor does not need to be crass; look at Brian Regan, homestarrunner.com, and heck, pretty much any (good) comic strip run in a newspaper for examples of great humor without the cruft.

While most of the world is tied up in sex humor and crass language, a few shining gems show that it works just as well, if not better, if you cut the boop.
