View Full Version : Two Quick Questions...

1.) How does shield bashing work? (Or else, where can I find the rules for shield bashing?)

2.) In Complete Mage, under the description of Abjurant Champion, for the ability Abjurant Armor, the entry notes that Abjurant Champions rely on mage armor, shield and similar abjuration spells to protect themselves in combat and recieve benefits while using them. Mage Armor, perhaps the most basic spell in this caster's arsenal, however is a Conjuration Spell. Can anyone comment if there has been errata to fix this?

Thanks,
Exile

Make that three quick questions:

3.) Can a person be a recipient of both Mage Armor and Magical Vestments at the same time? One is an armor bonus and one is enhancment, but I'm still not clear if its legal.

1) The weapons tables list the damage values for light and heavy shields. Just roll attack and damage as per any other weapon. You lose your shield bonus to AC for the rest of the turn (unless you have Improved Shield Bash).

2) No idea...

3) Magic Vestments is cast on your armour, so you probably can't cast in on mage armour (unless your GM is really nice). You could cast in on any mundane armour you're wearing along with mage armour but you would only get the better of the two armour bonuses (remember the enhancement bonus adds to the armour bous, not directly to the AC).

2) There is no errata for Complete Mage yet, so this stands as originally printed still. It was clearly intended for the bonus to apply to Mage Armor and Shield, however, so it shouldn't be hard to convince a reasonable DM to houserule it.

3) Yes, but they may or may not stack depending on what you use Magic Vestment on. Magic Vestment on clothing or armor would increase the clothes/armor's armor bonus, which does not stack with the armor bonus of Mage Armor. Magic Vestment on a shield would increase that shield's shield bonus, which would stack with Mage Armor because it is a different bonus type.
