What are the suffocation rules in 5e? I don't have a book on me so I can't look it up, and it is only an excerpt so it is allowed to be posted by OGL.
Thanks

There are no rules for suffocation AFAIK.
Edit: I don't think I have a single post that hasn't had to be edited to fix bad spelling/grammar

There isn't anything in the PHB to my knowledge, but I'm pretty sure that some monsters in the MM have drowning-like effects... So from those, one would have to guess that drowning/ suffocation rules are: "Once you start drowning/ suffocating, your hit points are reduced to 0 and you start making death saving throws."
Basically, once you have water in your lungs or the air ripped from your body, your luck/ skill/ destiny plot armor/ whatever (basically, all the things that go into HP) runs out and you have to struggle against just dying from being unable to breathe.
Edit: For most sources that cause suffocation, you get a constitution saving throw to hold your breath, and for drowning this translates into rounds you can stay under water.
Suffocation rules are on p. 183 of the Player's Handbook.
