Hello everyone

I was wondering if a good aligned warlock would be restricted of using the Baleful Utterance invocation since it states to chant words of the Dark Speech. Also, in the case the good warlock could use the invocation, would this count as an evil act? For example, this characters is good and have warlock levels. He even have exalted feats and maybe he's looking forward to become a saint. Would using Baleful Utterance (obviosly as for defense/utility) would prohibite him from becoming a saint? Using this invocation is always an evil act? Would a good deity punish his worshiper for "entoning" words from the Dark Speech?. Also what would happen if this character doesn't know that he have warlock levels, thus he doesn't know what Baleful Utterance is. He just know that when he concentrates on structures or glass objetcs they blew.

Hope you guys can help me with this.

According to the fluff description; you speak a "single syllable" of the Dark Speech. Think about the concept of an EVIL SYLLABLE and realise how silly that is.

According to the FAQ, Warlock Invocations don't have verbal components at all. No, not even this one.

Baleful Utterance has NEVER had the [evil] tag.

In short, no problem. The fluff description is just a bit of silliness.

Completely not related to the rules, but if you're looking for justification: in the Lord of the Rings, Gandalf - Middle Earth's equivalent of an angel - recites the Ring's inscription during the council in Rivendell, using the Black Speech.
