My wife and mine long running campaign (multi-generational family of adventurers) has a group of characters run into some Crown War stuff.

Specifically an 'Elven High Mage Lich' and his army of Wights, who'd been in a form of corrupted stasis since the Crown Wars. Eventually, said Elven High Mage Lich came up with away to attempt to bring back the 70,000 or so elves that died in a major historical event known as the Battle of Gods Theaters. 70,000 elves died fighting a massive orc horde.

That didn't quite work out for the Lich, and the short version is the characters ended up with a large army of Crown War Veterans now alive in the Forgotten Realms.

Now, the question (since it's finally come up....)

What would the level make up of the army actually be?

I see the following possible approaches:

#1 Use the Army break down from Heroes of Battle, but increase levels to go with the fact the leaders of these armies were 20th+ level, not 11th level.

#2 Using the leadership feat to determine this. Assume multiple high level/high leadership score commanders, and go from there. (Leadership scores in the 50s+)
( I know the details of the leaders of the armies, so this is a none issue)

Which seems more feasible from the context that these are all soldiers that fought in a series of legendary wars in a high magic, high fantasy setting.

nice plot line

number 1 works for the majority, 70k is a lot to detail, so for mass numbers this probly works, maybe scaled up a little

number 2 use for elite companys, command structures, noble companies and specialist units
