Welcome to the Dementrivia, the stretch pants of quiz shows.

What is this about? You can read the long description (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=35592) or accept the short explanation:
Each round, I give you one question. You send me an answer that is wrong, but as funny and entertaining as possible. After some time, I will gather your entries and reveal them. Then you may vote for your favorite answer, thus awarding it points.

After five rounds, Raistlin has accomplished a strong lead but one or two sweeping rounds can change the standings entirely.

Question 6: Buddhism is based on the Four Noble Truths. The first Noble Truth, on which the others build up, links all suffering to a central cause. Which is this central cause responsible for suffering?

Please send your answers as a message until Saturday, 6 PM Eastern

Note that this is a game without signups. You can send answers/vote anytime.

Time's up. Let's have a look at your suggestions:

Question: Buddhism is based on the Four Noble Truths. The first Noble Truth, on which the others build up, links all suffering to a central cause. Which is this central cause responsible for suffering?

True Answer: Desire is the central cause responsible for all suffering. Therefore, Buddhists strive to desire nothing.

And what were your ideas?

Answer 1:
The Wayans Brothers

Answer 2:
That removed and misused rib.

Answer 3:
Humanity

Answer 4:
School

Answer 5:
Tony Blair and George Bush. Works for Iraq, doesn't it?

Answer 6:
Pointed sticks. Pointed sticks are the cause of all suffering. Because they hurt. Especially if you get on in your eye. In fact, the Dalai Lama once said: 'Do not play the sharp-stick-in-the-eye game, because you might get a sharp stick in your eye. And that hurts. Trust me, I know.' And you should listen to the Dalai Lama, because he's wise and stuff.

Answer 7:
It is the headache caused by eating ice cream too quickly. Its symbolic of man's desire to seek that which will hurt him.

Answer 8:
The central cause to all my suffering is the lack of the new OOTS comic when it should be online but isn't.

Answer 9:
The Silly Message Board Games forum.

Answer 10:
*non existant*

Answer 11:
All suffering has only one use, to further the cause of happyness, also called evil.

Answer 12:
The cause of human suffering is the fact that our noodly master will not reveal himself to anyone but the chosen few one. Oh, but I might gaze on his prodigious carb-ness.

Answer 13:
The central cause for all suffering is the sun. It was stupid enough to support life, so that life could suffer!

Answer 14:
The central cause of suffering, is, in fact, death, disease and the like. I don't have a clue where Yoda got that random crap from.

Answer 15:
The core cause of suffering, is in fact, Bean Burritos.

Answer 16:
Jack Thompson. The bane of video-gamers everywhere.

16 answers to choose from. This time, however, I had to condense two entries to one option since they were too similar. The two players will receive half of the points each.

Choose your favorite and name it in the thread. You have time until Tuesday, 6 PM Eastern.

4, 5, 9 and 16 all seem good.

Although I think I will have to go with #9.

Captain van der Decken
2007-03-25, 03:40 PM

Castaras
2007-03-25, 03:42 PM
Silkenfist, both 10 and 13 are exactly the same. Word for word.

Silkenfist
2007-03-25, 03:53 PM
Fixed: 10 is switched to the one I had overwritten.

Khantalas
2007-03-25, 04:03 PM
Now 10 is 14. It still doesn't fix anything.

Silkenfist
2007-03-25, 04:20 PM
OK, after triple checking I've convinced myself that there is no additional answer. We scratch 10 and continue with 15 options.

Khantalas

Calamity

#6 so long as it it's pronounced 'poin-TED' sticks rahter than the normal way of saying it :smalltongue:

Khantalas: Your answer was merged with another one since I felt they were too similar to be run separately. You will share points with the other player equally.

Eldritch Knight
2007-03-25, 04:59 PM
My Answer is #3, and I think I know who it belongs to. But I'll wait and see.

Khantalas

Clear victory for Lord Herman and for this time, the longest answer was my favorite, too. The round is completed by a lot of swift one liners, the obligatory political statement and the even more obligatory GITP reference.
