Do they have to be the same race? Because the warforged Juggernaut and the Kobold Artificer who rides on his back can make quite a team.

A duo of Devoted Defenders could be fun. They keep getting into harm's way, while getting AoO's. Eventually they will be able to deflect attacks as a free action, while still getting AoO's against attackers.

I've played arena fights with a Bard duo (a DFI Bardsader and a regular Bard) to great effect.

It doesn't really come online until level 10, but two sets of Dvati rogues, both (all?) with the Opportunist special ability, could be utterly ludicrous. Or on a similar vein, build them both as Crusader lockdown builds. Attack any one of them? Take four attacks of opportunity. If 3.0 material is allowed, dipping Devoted Defender would make it even sillier.

Right, a duo of crusader/dev defender would be hilarious (still rather susceptible to ranged attacks and magic though).

I have seen half dragon brothers (sorcery and fighting), and bard and rouge that worked out great. the fighter acted as a shield for the caster and the bard acted to distract while the little fingers went to work. I find it is more about how you play then what you play.

You're better off with two different classes which synergise. Druid + Buffing caster (Bard say) would work.

Bards. Shortbows and animal companions benefit from Inspire Courage. Elvencraft bows count as multiple weapons so they can have multiple wand chambers.

Silverbrow Human, Wildshape Trap Expert Ranger 1/ Savage Bard 7, two flaws, Melodic Casting, Wild Cohort, Dragonfire Inspiration, Dreadful Wrath, Item Familiar, Song of the Heart, and Leadership. With a Badge of Valor and casting Inspirational Boost his inspire courage adds +4d6 fire damage. His Wild Cohort is a Fleshraker Dinosaur at 'level -3' with the Warbeast template added via Handle Animal. This one can use martial weapons, so get an Elvencraft (Composite) Longbow with three wand chambers, use partially charged wands of choice ranger spells like (Mass) Camouflage, Entangle, Swift Haste, etc.

Silverbrow Human, Savage Bard 7/ Dragonblood Sorcerer 1, two flaws, Melodic Casting, Wild Cohort, Dragonfire Inspiration, Dreadful Wrath, Item Familiar, Song of the Heart, Leadership, and (Battle) Draconic Heritage. With a Badge of Valor and casting Inspirational Boost his inspire courage adds +4d6 sonic damage. His Wild Cohort is a Magebred Fleshraker Dinosaur (only Druids and Rangers are prohibited from gaining Magebred companions) at 'level -3' with the Warbeast template added via Handle Animal. Definitely put a partially charged Wand of Wings of Cover in one of his wand chambers, as well as those of anyone else with a Sorcerer level. Other choice wands include Web and Command Undead. For Sorcerer spells known maybe get Mage Armor to buff the companions, and Benign Transposition for utility.

Your cohorts are Silverbrow Human Savage Bard 5/ Dragonblood Sorcerer 1, two flaws, Melodic Casting, Wild Cohort, Dragonfire Inspiration, Dreadful Wrath, Item Familiar, Song of the Heart, Leadership, and (Silver/Bronze) Draconic Heritage. With a Badge of Valor and casting Inspirational Boost their inspire courage adds +4d6 cold damage and +4d6 electric damage, respectively. Their Wild Cohorts are both Magebred War-Trained Riding Dogs with the Warbeast template.

One of their cohorts is a Silverbrow Human Savage Bard 3/ Dragonblood Sorcerer 1, two flaws Melodic Casting, Wild Cohort, Dragonfire Inspiration, Dreadful Wrath, Song of the Heart, and (Copper) Draconic Heritage. With a Badge of Valor and casting Inspirational Boost his inspire courage adds +4d6 acid damage. His Wild Cohort is a Magebred War-Trained Riding Dog with the Warbeast template.

Their other cohort is a Human Savage Bard 4, two flaws, Melodic Casting, Wild Cohort, Mercantile Background, any 1st level feat, and Song of the Heart. With a Badge of Valor and casting Inspirational Boost his inspire courage adds +4 to attack and damage rolls. His Wild Cohort is a Magebred War-Trained Riding Dog with the Warbeast template.

Everyone's attacks get +20d6 energy damage, +4 attack and damage, and anything that gets close enough to the bards is subject to multiple save-or-shaken effects which escalate to frightened and then panicked if they fail multiple saves against them. They're a traveling band of skald minstrels. Immediately call dibs on naming your character Nathan Explosion.

but same races and same bg.
What is "same bg"?

And do you mean "same single race"?

In this kind of 2 PC party, people often advise one divine caster and one arcane caster or Artificer party.
A Druid and Artificer party would be completely self-sufficient and would work very great.

It also depend of the king of thing the DM may throw at you. With less op, two T3 class may be really fun. Warblade and Bard, or Crusader and Factotum for instance.

bg=background I would guess.

But you could fudge all the race/bg stuff anyway. Separated at birth and recently re-united, or one of you a half-race, or even completely divergent races raised at an orphanage/adopted by a third race..

One of you could play the rider and one the mount from the ubermount concept.

Oooh, yes, this. A fun pair would be a Devoted Tracker Halfling Outrider with Dragon Steed, plus his draconic mount.
