I need a flying dinosaur that is large or medium size. Because we are doing a little people campaign. So my mount can't be too big, but i want one that flies. And our group is kinda dinosaur themed so i'd like to continue that. I looked through all the monster manuals and a few others but i haven't found one yet. If you know of one please let me know. Or a cheap way to let a dino fly.

pterodactyl Just reedited to add this. It's a large fluff... but not broken in my opinion.
Size Reach bite claws Wings
Medium 5 ft./5 ft. 1d8 1d6 1d4
HD str dex con int wis cha attack/grapple attack fort ref will
4d12+4 (30) 11 10 13 8 11 8 +4/-4 +6 +5 +4 +4

60 ft., fly 100 ft. (average)
15 (+2 size,+3 natural), touch 12, flat-footed 15

Just using a dragon as a base removing its breath weapon.

Technically there is no such thing as a flying dinosaur. Pteranodons and pterosaurs were ancient flying reptiles.

That aside the answer you seek is found in the Eberron Campaign Setting. It is the glidewing, which is essentially a pteranodon.

It is large and the corresponding fluff is that the Talenta halflings use them as flying mounts.

Technically, all modern birds are dinosaurs and so there are flying dinosaurs.

MM2 has Quetzalcoatlus, a 10-HD Huge-sized flying beastie with one hell of a bite attack (plus Swallow Whole!).

Cave dinosaurs from the miniature's handbook have the capacity to be mutated, and one of the possible mutations is wings for a 50 ft. (poor) flight speed.

Edit: Missed a whole clause on that one.

Technically all modern birds are descended from dinosaurs and are their own distinct order of animals.

"Distinct orders" are more a function of the human tendency to classify things. It's impossible to create a monophyletic group that includes all traditional "dinosaurs" but excludes birds.

The usual process, when it comes to cladistic classification, is to take two creatures - and specify a group name for "Them, their most recent common ancestor, and all its descendants".

For Dinosauria - it might be "Triceratops, Tyrannosaurus, their most recent common ancestor - and all its descendants"

There's a Pteranadon in Serpent Kingdoms, large-sized and 3 HD.

So, maybe your DM will allow a fiat for a fly/permanency combo on any dino you want? At worst, you could get a flying carpet and get a friendly dino to ride it.

regardless, you must cast Flamebrand at some point on your dino (or some equivalent if you're not playing PF). You simply must have a dinosaur with a laser beam a la Dino-riders! LOL

Winged Template Dinosaur.

I think it would be amusing to put it on a Winged Ankylosaur.

I vaguely recall that stat block being essentially the same as the Glidewing one from Eberron Campaign Setting.

Heh, just the idea of a winged ankylosaur ammused me.

As for Trex, I raise you Spinosaurus.

That too would look ridiculous.

Winged template makes it a magical beast unfortunately. And I can only rebuke animals.

THANK YOU!!!!!
This helped my group immensely. We're working on a cave dinosaur template. So that we can just use this for everyone. Cause lots of people were having a hard time finding good dinos.

Sorry for the delayed response, been on vacation. Anyway, when you get the cave dino template done, I'd like to see it. There's just a lack of good lower hit die dinos.
