"War" spells?

I have, from time to time, seen mention of casting a "War" spell (e.g. War Prestidigitation). It seems to be some sort of metamagic, but google fails me. What source is it from, and what does it do?

it has a number of effects, but the one you care about is being able to clip dozens or hundreds of ppl with one spell.

Yeah, that's basically the worst thing ever. especially when the terms are ungooglable on their own unless you know exactly what you're looking for, like war spell. if you googled war spell (which I'm sure you did before making the thread) you'd probably just get stuff talking about the war domain and such.
