Are there any arthropod races in the Small category, anywhere in 3.5 or Pathfinder? Seems like there should be one somewhere.

Dromites are described to have hardened, chitin-like skins and are the small size category. +2 cha -2 str -2 wis. Naturally psionic, scent ability (presumably to mimic ants), compound eyes, +3 natural armor and a DR of either 5 cold/electric/fire/psionic. (Expanded Psionics Handbook)

Huh, thanks. I hadn't realized dromites were small, since I've never looked through the XPH.

Any other small insectoid races out there?

PF dromites are better than 3.5 dromites. All the other insects I can think of are Medium.

Can you put Insectile (Savage Species) on a Halfling?
Yes. yes you can. +2 LA though..

Forgotten Realms guide to the Underdark is 3.0, I think, but it has Chitine, a small sized spider-like humanoid pc race. 2 RHD, and +2 LA unfortunately. Perhaps a 3.5 tweaking to them could make that a bit better.

Perhaps ironically, most bugs do seem to be quite big. Refluffing can fix a lot of things, though; if you that would fulfill your need.

Small-sized entomanthrope who spends all his time in hybrid form?

You could always be a were-swarm.

I don't recommend it. Not worth it, as I've explained in patronizingly simple terms to a player.

There's always hairy spider, which is even better than Small. It's Fine!

So, thanks to everyone who made suggestions here, I appreciate it.

I've been working up my own take on a small arthropod race (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?385255-The-Tselu-A-Small-Arthropod-Race-WIP-PEACH), and I'd welcome any comments or feedback, especially on the balance of racial features.
