View Full Version : Unseelie fey bonus feats.

Heres a question, to me the answer seems obvious, but I wanted to double check.

The Unseelie fey template states that they have one feat for every four levels or the base creature's total of feats, whichever is greater.

Do class levels count for this? or could I effectively have 1 feat every 3 levels and 1 every 4 levels?

My opinion is that they both count, thus only the class level feats are used.

Can anyone confirm/prove otherwise this?

Let use assume it is only RHD.
Under 3 RHD neither 1/3 nor 1/4 give any bonus feats.
At 3 RHD only 1/3 gives a bonus feat.
At 4-5 RHD both give only 1 feat.
At 6 RHD 1/3 gives 2 feats to 1/4's 1 feat.
See where I am going with this? 1/4 is never greater than the general feat from HD rules and thus is never used.

I'm curious why they even included the 4 RHD line, because it seems to be completely useless by the rules of the game itself. Every creature gets feats at 1st and every 3rd HD, whether class level or RHD, at minimum. Unless there's some circumstance where a creature can get to 4 HD without gaining any feats that I'm not aware of, it seems like a complete waste of printer real-estate.

Sounds like they mistakenly brought forward rules from 3.0. Many creature types had different feat progressions. Can someone check if that's the progression for 3.0 Fey?

Ding ding ding. We have a winner.
In 3.0 creatures either got:
0 feats from HD
Blindfighting for oozes
1 feat/RHD for beasts
4 feats/RHD for everything else including fey.

Ahh, that explains it. Thanks.
