Was there ever any official/designer clarification on what them being made of force means? Is it meant to be functionally equivalent to the +2 equivlent "Force" ability (ignore DR among some other stuff)?

there was not. given the price of the two things, it seems unlikely. it probably was intended to function as though it had the [Force] descriptor so you can kill incorporeal creatures, but not ignore DR.

It would in fact seem to be that that's what they do, OP. +1 Force Javelins. Ignore DR (and isn't countered by energy resistance either), incorporeality, and iirc also conditions like Wind Wall. Stopped completely cold by things like Forceward.

As a side note.

IMO, Force is a bit overpriced for what it does. It doesn't actually do that much when you think about it. It doesn't add any damage, it doesn't make hitting any more likely (except against incorporeal, naturally), it doesn't have much in the way of special effects, it just happens to ignore DR - that's the primary effect of it, really - and in exchange is stopped completely cold by certain spells.

I mean, +2 is the only choice for it, because it's Ghost Touch+ for ranged weapons, and Ghost Touch is a +1, but I reaaaaallly don't think it should be +2. IMO the way to handle it would be to bundle it in with Ghost Touch - make GT a prerequisite for it (and allow it to apply to ranged) and then make Force a fixed price WSA for like 2-5k-ish.
