Is there any variant of the Raven familiar or a similar bird that gives a useful stat, +3 to appraise seems lackluster. and the speech can be solved with a pearl of speech...

Stormwrack has parrots as a variant of the raven with the same abilities and statblock. But if you're using a pearl of speech anyway, there's no real reason to choose a raven over a hawk or owl or something.

Gyrfalcons from Frostburn grant a +3 to spot checks regardless of lighting conditions and use the stats of a hawk.

[Bluydee]

Hummingbirds give +4 to intiative and are in dragon, using the sparrow stats.

[Hand_of_Vecna]

Pathfinder has Toucan. Uses Raven statblock and gives +3 to diplomacy.

Oh and dodo gives +4 initiative, but will need a pearl. No idea what made someone associate a bonus to initiative to an animal better known for being extinct than anything else.

Dragon Magazine 341 gives us the ever more useful Crow Familiar. They use the stats of the Raven, so I assume it means the ability to talk as well, but gives a +2 to Fort saves, which is always good for casters.
