The question's in the title; can it be done? If so, how?
EDIT: Silly me, I forgot the obvious answer. Okay, so the goal here is to find a cheaper way to use more than three metamagic rod charges per day with the same kind of rod. If buying more rods of that kind is the cheapest way to accomplish that, then so be it, but I'd prefer to have something cheaper.
