View Full Version : Magic Item Creation Clarification (Outside Caster)

For some reason, I see a lot of discussions regarding the creation of magic items that seems so very negative toward the prerequisites for many of these items. However, aside from the usual limitations for finding spellcasters with the appropriate spells known, why is it so hard for people to just hire a spellcaster to cast the spells into the crafted item?

For example, my character has Craft Staff. He wants to make a Runestaff of Transportation, but he doesn't know Blink, Dimension Door, or Teleport. Can he not just pay for those 3 spells to be cast by another spellcaster and then pay the usual cost for crafting the item himself? Assuming these spells may also have to be cast over multiple days, which would accrue additional costs from that spellcaster helper.

Is there some reason why this is a problem?
