I've seen the Sun Sword mentioned twice today and began wondering what the cost would be to add the "weight and ease of use as a short sword" ability to another weapon. Listed price is 50k, but how much of that is just the dual proficiency?

Okay, I'm going off the 3.5 version of it (cost is basically the same, 50,335 gp). Let's try to reverse engineer it.
+2 Bastard Sword is 8335, meaning the other properties of the blade cost 42,000 collectively. Daylight effect 1/day, let's say the Cleric version since it's lowest level: Command Word, (3(spell level)*5(caster level)*1800)/(5/1(per day))=5400gp. Down to 36,600gp to account for. The bonus against evil creatures is probably not quite as good as Bane, since it doesn't have the +2d6; so let's call it halfway between a +2 and a +3 weapon for cost. So maybe another 5000gp for that; 31,600gp to go.

Roughly 31,600 to split between dealing double damage against Negative Energy Plane creatures, and being able to wield it as a short sword. Your guess is as good as mine how to divide that up. Personally I'd say the it's around 50/50, so 15,800.

IIRC, Lesser Sun Blade is something like 3300 and its +1, so 1.300gp for masterwork ?

Lesser Sun Blade isn't technically worded correctly for the "ease of use part". Specifically the application of Finesse to bastard sword damage.

I was ballparking around 18 or 20k, so your math seems right, Telonius. Only possible factor left out would be the enhanced crit multiplier and the ability to use the daylight feature almost permanently.

I would try:

700 GP (proficiency from lesser sunsword, 3000 - 2300 for +1 weapon)
1500 GP (feycraft for light weapon, DMGII)
6000 GP (Strongarm Bracers to keep damage at 1d8)

So... 8200 GP

It's a combat ability so it should be a +X ability not a flat cost. For anyone who likes short swords it's as good as collision which would make it a +1 ability, however that's rather limiting so it's more like a +0.7 ability. OTOH you can also wield it two handed unlike a short sword and do other things that can only be done with a two handed weapon or bastard sword. So make it a +1 ability and call it a day.

Specifically a +1 ability that grants: X weapon is also treated as Y other weapon whenever it is favorable. X is the base weapon. Y is fixed upon crafting.
