Good flavor for the switch?

I've begun introducing psionics into my campaigns, and I wanted to switch monks with psions. I felt this would be cool and eliminate monksarebadmmmkay effect.

Psychic Warrior can easily fill the Monk niche, and might be a better fit than the Psion class.

Indeed. Especially with Monastic Training and Tashalatora.

Ardents can also fit decently (again with aforementioned feat). Psions are an odd choice.

Edit: If you want a flavor justification, how about several monasteries discovering new techniques for manipulating ki, and teaching them to their disciples?
