Are there any magic/technological items or enchantments that allow someone to have a sword-firearm-thing?

There's a gun-axe and dagger pistol, (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/equipment---final/weapons/firearms) but there's no specific gun-sword and those two are pretty awful in their own right. The closest is the pistol-sword-cane.

... knowing the player he'd probably love the idea of a pistol sword cane.

Though... since early firearms misfiring destroys them, how does a gunslinger function long enough to reach a level high enough to purchase an advanced or magic firearm without rolling a 1?

Early firearms are not destroyed by simply misfiring. They have to be broken first, after which a misfire will cause the gun to explode. The first misfire will cause a gun to gain the broken condition, which means you'd need two misfires in a row without repairs to destroy the firearm. If you're not a gunslinger, the easy solution is to never fire a broken gun, switch to a different weapon, and repair outside of combat when you can. If you're a gunslinger, you get a fancy class feature at first level called Quick Clear which lets you take a standard action to remove the broken condition caused by a misfire, provided that you still have at least one grit point.

A bayonet really wouldn't be out of place, and should be pretty easy to put in the game without causing problems. There are gun stats, there are spear stats, a bit of merging and some slight tweaks pretty much covers it.

Ravenloft has a Partisan Blade (spelling) its a Pistol/Rapier exotic weapon. So 2 feats to use. As a free action when you hit with the rapier you can fire the gun against flatfooted ac.

Historically it looks like pistol/sword or musket bayonet are the only options.

On the magic side of things, Races of the Wild has a swordbow in Light, Medium, and Great options. It allows the wielder to change between the bow and sword options as a free action. This could be adapted for firearms, perhaps.

Bayonets (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/equipment---final/weapons/weapon-descriptions/bayonet) are already in the game, and actually PREDATE Firearms.
They kind of suck with the "when attached weapon does not shoot" but they do exist.

Well, there's Horatio Nelson's famous gun sword (http://www.peashooter85.com/post/64731141335/two-shot-sword-pistol-brandished-by-horatio-nelson). Historical accounts indicate it wasn't terribly accurate, but it could serve as the foundation for a custom dual weapon if you like.

Fluffwise, gunsword exists in the final fantasy universe / setting

there are mainly two types...

final fantasy mark VII gunsword (melee sword that may fire bullets in to the blade to make it vibrate and do more damage,
DM/GM could rule that it could also use magic bullets for magic effects)

final fantasy mark XIII gunsword (sword that can both be used in melee as well as fire bullets to make ranged attacks)

Both of which showing that game designers should never become blacksmiths.

That design is very fascinating.

Usually the best idea for this is to retool bayonet rules as Knaight said.

There is a clause that says that bayonets render firearms useless while fixed. Strike it.
Plug bayonets DID stop fire, BUT, socket bayonets eradicated them in 1678. Socket bayonets are 337 years old. Use em.

Merely have it stated somewhat like a double weapon. Two different types of damage. Two ranges, Two critical ranges, two damage types.
Use Advanced firearms. Mosin-Nagant Rifle a best.

Alternatively, a full gun blade could be taking the Dagger Pistol, making the "pistol" a revolver, and the "dagger" a long-sword.

Love me some bayonets though

I sense a breath weapon in their immediate future.
