So some friends and I have been considering changing the Dwarven triats Dwarven Toughness and Dwarven Armor Training.

Options.

1: Chosen Dwarf: You gain a cantrip from the cleric or druid list. Wisdom is your casting ability. Replaces Dwarven Toughness

2: Dwarven Brute: You gain advantage on rolls to prevent being Shoved or Grappled. Replaces Dwarven Armor Training.

Has anyone else changed out these racial traits for something else? Any suggestions on other ideas to make the m more interesting than +1 HP/level or Armor proficiencies?

They're dorfs. They're only interesting when they're drunk.

Alternate traits:

Steinsense: you know the direction and distance to the nearest ale house at all times.
Brewmaster: you gain proficiency in survival, but only for finding ingredients to brew beer. You may brew beer during your downtime.
Liquid Courage: Drinking an alcoholic beverage grants you 1d4+ your proficiency modifier temporary hit points. Drinking your own brew grants you 1d6+ your proficiency modifier. These temporary hit points are cumulative with themselves, to a maximum of half your constitution score. Drinking in combat is an action.

These temporary hit points are cumulative with themselves, to a maximum of your constitution score. If you drink more drinks than your constitution modifier in one day, you grant advantage to all attackers and have disadvantage on all checks.
What kind of a dwarf gets drunk on 5 or less drinks a day?

There needs to be a hard daily limit on how many times the dorf gets free thp. I'll change it to 3x con modifier. You may choose to drink without gaining thp and that won't count against it.

Make it where the drinks don't stack but you gain a number of Temp HP equal to 1d4+Prof Bonus with each drink. You always have a drink on you, stashed in your beard, secret pouch, or in your scabbard (What? Your hammer or Axe never uses it...).

Even if it doesn't stack, there needs to be a limit, or you could just drink a stein every round. On a bear totem barbarian, you could tank for months.

This is better than having regeneration or fast healing if it doesn't have a daily limit.

Nah, warlock gets at will false life. It isn't that great. Make it an action and it really isn't broken.

Edit: High level the dwarf gets 1d4+6, druid gets 100+ as bonus action or action.

Yeah, the new change makes it more elegant.
