I'm not sure that someone else didn't mention this in another thread, but I remember seeing debates about Arcane recovery being calculated into average damage.

I (almost never play wizards) found that Arcane Recovery won't let you recover spell slots over 5th. Did anyone else catch that?

Um... yes?

I noticed, and I'm sure at least most of the people debating did as well. Why?

Can someone look up Land Druid's recovery? I'm not sure if it says spell slots if 6th level or higher or it it says you can recover up to 6th level...

"none of the slots can be 6th level or higher." So maxes at 5th level, same as the Wizard's recharge.

The entire system is built on the assumption that spells above 5th level are especially potent. The DMG's rest variants, for example, give a "heroic" option of 5 minute / 1 hour short and long rests, but still requires casters to spend an 8-hour rest before getting back those high level slots. It's up there with the concentration mechanics for limiting casters' powers.
