How does someone reference another post, in a thread? As an example, somebody asks which book something is from. Then the question shows in a shaded box and the answer will appear below that.

You can:

hit the "Reply with quote" link in the post you want,
if you need multiple posts, hit the "+ link in the bottom-right corner (it will change to quote and checkmark) and when you have them all, reply to the thread (it will quote every post you selected).
copy-paste the text, then put {quote}{/quote} around it (but with square brackets),
copy-paste the text, then select the text and hit the speech bubble in the editing panel.

Adding to this. If you want a name to appear you use {quote=Name}{/quote} with square brackets. Also, this method will not give you a link to the original post.

You can use the multi quote to select the post(s), then just go to the thread and hit reply. There should then be a little thing under the textbox which says something like:

You have selected 1 post that is not part of this thread. Quote this post as well, or deselect this post.
