Welcome to The Stick Awards II: Second Edition!

The Stick Awards are handed out to the best strips of all time as chosen by our fellow Playgrounders.

This week we are covering the comic strips 671 through 680.

For full details about the Stick Awards, please check out the main thread here (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=283609).

To read more about the original Stick Awards, created by Nazzo, the 102nd, please read his thread here. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34791)

To vote in this thread, simply state which comic of the ten listed is your favorite. Bolding the number of the comic (Like this) helps it stand out.

Voting for this week will close on December 21st, 4pm EST. Any votes made after that will NOT count toward the totals.

Last week, 661 The Path of Least Expectation (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0661.html) lived up to its name, and how! No one really knows just where it popped off to. Maybe we'll see it again sometime. Say, in the Best of the Hundred tournament.

One arc is now sailing into the distance, and another one is arriving for its time in the sun. But we're still in the thick of things here in the Stick Awards. As such, let's get down to business and figure out which of the following should win....

.THE STICK AWARDS II: 0671 - 0680

671 Also, She Needs Her Clothes Back Now (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0671.html)
672 A Familiar Conclusion (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0672.html)
673 Too Slow (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0673.html)

675 It Costs an Armor Leg (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0675.html)

Well, it's kind of difficult to come off of the last few weeks to the start of a book. Not that the Sandsedge comics are bad, but its difficult to compare to the Darth Vaarsuvius arc. 674 in particular always makes me laugh, but #672 definitely wins for me.

Odd set of pages--the denouement of one chapter and the unhurried beginning to another. For the mystery, a nice visual, and some well-earned humility from Vaarsuvius, I'll have to take 672.

#673, because it involves some pickpockets getting their pockets picked.

My choice is between two V strips, 672 and 679. 672 has more overall significance, though, with the reveal of the planet in the rifts, so I'll go with that.

I really, really want to give some love here for the Sandsedge comics, which I feel got a lot of unfair criticism at the time from impatient readers. But I think 672 is my favorite ending strip in all of OOTS, so I have to vote for it.

Man, I'm going to have to jump on the bandwagon here. I really enjoyed the Sandedge strips, but 672: A Familiar Conclusion is just clearly superior to any of them.

At the end of the day, 672 A Familiar Conclusion should stand victorious among these ten strips.

With 672 having this week's voting safely in its pocket, I can allow myself to show some favour for 677. :vaarsuvius: learns that advancing your character is not something done overnight.

675 - It Costs an Armor Leg. I would have preferred to see Elan buying local bridges though...

It's definitely between 671 (I like the long panel with all the characters), 672, and 679. I think I'll wait a bit to make a decision.

672, for Blackwing.

673, because I like that story arc more than the following one.

I'm going to go for the underdog and pick 680. Unlike most of the others, it is related to the plot, just not as significant as 672.

679

There's a lot to like here. Honourable mention for the 'long goodbye' panel in 671, and I like Sandsedge visually, but 672 is head and shoulders above the rest.

Voting for 679. A great character moment for V.

672 was extremely tempting, but then I saw 679.

I'd like to vote for 672 here, as it was one of the OTHER WTFBBQ!!! moments of the strip that I alluded to last time. But if I were going to vote for it, I'd vote for it more because of the interaction between V and Blackwing. It is a proper introduction to the character and a defining moment for Vaarsuvius.

But I think I'll vote for 673. It's a great setup for a book and arc. The "Not on my watch, Pigtails" was gold. But the "Awwww, man" from Elan seals it when the calling of dibs was made.

And with that....

VOTING IS NOW CLOSED!

:vaarsuvius: 672 A Familiar Conclusion (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0672.html) is the winner this week. It now moves on to the Best of the Hundred tournament.
