These are mostly RAW legal lesser dragons just renamed, retrained with a ritual added. Any racial bonus to jump more than +10 was house ruled since they are from two sources(powerful legs and wings) but RAW should only be +10.

This 5ft long serpent has a massive wings behind its head that is uses for limited flight. Just below the wings are two scaled arms ending in dull claws. Its mouth is filled with sharp teeth.

This was a challenge and includes some rulings on the effect of Familiar Form, namely that you keep physically based feats and skill bonuses of the possessed, but retain your own skill ranks. The clause that you can use the body as your own was used heavily in the Couatl Aspirant Creation. The arms are the result taking the MSRD poisonous blood and extra arms mutations and the Poison Immunity feat.

Drakkensteeds are large, ridable, and look awesome. But really none of these, except the last one Couatl Aspirant, are that difficult to make. They are just ritual associated animals with retrained feats and fancy new names. Do note that you should ritual associate them in the egg. The Leaping Drake is ridable for small creature.

Edit: Moved up into spoilers because this was getting too long.

It isn't allowing me to add it(character constraints and all), but the Greater Swampstalker is available as a level 7 druid companion.

Any other requests or comments before I leave this thread alone?

I really like these though the stat blocks could be cleaner and more complete (missing Initiative for example). I also think you miscalculated many skills. A creature with Int 2 gets 4 skills for its first HD and one for every additional HD. Yeah that Couatl Aspirant is clearly shenanigans. It should have the Magical Beast type for starters :-)

You added racial bonuses to swim and climb speed to creatures that already have +8 bonuses from having a swim and climb speed. I don't think you meant to do that.

Squirt attack should be a standard action not a free action for the swampkin drake. The muckdweller's attack is a standard action.

Arborkin Drake should have LA +2 [LA +1 for flight alone and +1 for the natural weapons]

Leaping Drake seems to be missing something to let it use both its talons and its foreclaws. It can't be standing to use both since it is bipedal. I'll have to look at it further as this was just a first impression.

Pseudowyveis strange. Bite should include disease. Not sure where you got the "infection" ability. See dire rat's bite.

BTW, Gliding is NOT a movement. It is a Special Ability.

I will edit them to be a bit more complete and consistant when I get back to my computer.

I'm not really sure it is a magical beast, but then again there aren't any rules that I've found for what happens to dismissed familiars(do they lose their abilities or stay improved?) so I'll just assume it keeps them and change it to a magical beast. If one wanted to be a bit more reasonable, changing the snake race to a small constrictor would probably be a little less cheesy and still have the same visual effect(and more color customization). Decided to just outright change it to the small constrictor.

I was fairly certain I had the skills properly portrayed, I will check again though.

I always just lump the movement bonus in because I forget them sometimes, but I guess I'll remove them. They are listed as racial bonuses in the book.

The Muckdweller's squirt attack never has an action specified and as an extraordinary ability it is a free action unless otherwise stated.

The anthropomorphic raven is LA +0 so the ritual associated one is the same.

The leaping drake is indeed missing a pounce, but so is its original species. As stated before, these are supposed to be as RAW legal as possible and not homebrew(only in this thread because it was reported as homebrew) so I am not altering them beyond the already customizable elements.

Yes I know it is not a true type of movement, but it should be considered when moving. People often forget to check the feats in game and just go with the key points of HP, AC, Movement and Attack, having glide there gives it a greater chance of seeing use.

Using an extraordinary ability is usually not an action because most extraordinary abilities automatically happen in a reactive fashion. Those extraordinary abilities that are actions are standard actions unless otherwise noted. Spitting is not reactive, it is an action so therefore it is a STANDARD action.

Read the Climb and Swim speed sections again and you will see that the bonus clearly comes from having Speed not an additional racial bonus. The way you have it written it looks like an ADDITIONAL racial bonus.

Savage Species is 3.0 so you'd have to update the anthro raven to 3.5 and flight is LA +1 in 3.5.

Dismissed familiars just become regular animals.
A familiar is a normal animal that gains new powers and becomes a magical beast when summoned to service by a sorcerer or wizard.

Where can I find the Compsognathus? I'm not sure how the Infection special ability works. It seems like it should just be disease (and which disease do you get from it?).

Altered the Swampkin Drake and Couatl Aspirant to reflect your previous post. The bonus from movement is a racial bonus so even if you add them both it still only amounts to +8. Might I get your source for level adjustments in 3.5? I was fairly sure Savage Species was still the primary source, but if there is an update for the LA rules I would very much like to see it.

The Compsognathus Infection ability is a disease, just one that lasts 1d6 minutes instead of until cured. While editing I thought I should go ahead and post the sources, but ran out of characters in the first post. I will put them in the second post, but for now the Compsognathus is from Dragon Magazine #318.

Yeah stacking rules would still prevent racial abilities but the bonus from the swim speed isn't just a simple racial bonus see for example the wording in the Aboleth.

Skills: An aboleth has a +8 racial bonus on any Swim check to perform some special action or avoid a hazard. It can always choose to take 10 on a Swim check, even if distracted or endangered. It can use the run action while swimming, provided it swims in a straight line.

That wording is very specific. Saying a creature has a +8 racial bonus to Swim is insufficient since that would give it a +8 to any Swim check (not just special actions or to avoid a hazard). I realize it's a pain in the butt to repeat this information to any creature with a swim speed but it is the most accurate.

I'm not sure exactly where (or if) the ruling that flight at first level is worth +1 LA, but official races in 3.5 start with glide and gain flight at higher levels like Raptotorians from Races of the Wild. The problem with flight is that it allows PCs to avoid all kinds of hazards. They never fall into pits or fall down a mountain and won't take falling damage. The Rules Compendium or FAQ might have some official ruling or it could be found in Dragon Magazine. There are just too many sources to check off hand.

Unfortunately there was never errata or FAQ for Savage Species and so updating it to 3.5 is tricky. Assigning LA is not just number crunching. However, in general the benefits gained from natural flight are significant. I tend to be fairly conservative in how much power a beginning character should have. IMNSHO, natural flight at level 1 should be worth LA +1.

That said: The FAQ says this about LA for natural weapons (quoted from page 3): "Having more than one natural attack gets you a +1 level adjustment (no matter how much damage those natural weapons can deal) if a fighter of equivalent level does not have as many attacks. If you have one natural weapon that deals more damage than you could deal with a one-handed simple or martial weapon (more than 1d8 for a Medium creature), you also have a level adjustment of at least +1."

If anyone has a clue if there was ever official information regarding natural flight and level adjust please let me know. Thanks!

The base race only has a single natural attack, the raven Claws attack itn't two claws but rather one attack similar to Rake. A level one fighter can easily surpass it in number of attacks thus granting no LA from having a natural weapon. I agree that flight is powerful, but assuming SS is still in play +1 from flight, -1 from small size, +0 from relatively equal stats(though in 3.0 Str was worth 2x Wisdom so -1 for 3.0), +0 natural attack surpassable by a level one fighter and no other racial feature adjustments is still +0.

Is there a use for swim that isn't avoiding hazards or taking special actions?

1. Possibly but judging LA is more of an art than a science. Flight can be a problem when only half the party has access to it at early levels. Potions of fly are costly (750 gp) compared to potions of cure light wounds (50 gp). Any item/vehicle that supports flight is likely to be prohibitively expensive for low-level parties.

2. Yes. Having a swim speed removes the need for as many checks which creatures without a swim speed have to make. See swim skill for details. Unlike with flight, a swimmer can Aid Another and the cost of even a rowboat or canoe is not unreasonable. The advantage is not only can the party share the cost of the item but they can all share in its use. This is why a swim speed doesn't add to LA but a fly speed does.

Also, flight has a tendency to remove parties from the action. Pits stop being a trap, traversing rough terrain is not an issue, and why engage in combat when you can fly over or around enemies? Flight is more work for the DM. Spells and potions are time limited and even magic items can be stolen, or affected by an anti magic field. But not much reigns in natural flight.
