The idea for my character is to cast as many horrifying spells as possible per day.

I know there are magic items out there that affect spell casting, but I forget which. I'm told that pearl of power is just incredibly overpriced...and I know there's a ring that allows you to recast a spell you already cast (or something like that.

My request: a list of all magic items that affect spell casting per day. [some that are just useful for spell casters is nice as well, but secondary]
EDIT: I would prefer permanent magic items, rather than spells/rods/wands

too obvious to say rods, staffs and wands? honestly i get those for useful spells i know i will need, since my DM does partially charged wands in sets of 10 charges, i get utility stuff that i might need in bulk from them.

examples are endure elements, water breathing etc. so that i can cast it on the party without using a whole levels worth of slots that day (all 3rds etc.)

this allows me to use my actual slots for much better things.

lol. Not quite what I was looking for, but thanks for the suggestion. I specifically wanted the more permanent magic items. You can't cast spells from wands if they are from a prohibited school?

hmmm no you cannot. but you can use items that emulate the effect.

you could use an item that gave you fly if you ban transmutation. or drink a potion of fly. but you cannot use an item that allows you to cast it like a wand.

are you set on specialist?

you can get a similar amount of spells with similar spells per day as an elven generalist with domain wizard.

The generalist basically gets the benefits of a specialist, but with absolutely no drawback....wow. But yes, I am set on being a specialist.

Are Eternal Wands permanent enough? They allow you to cast a spell 2 times a day, every day.

Ah, right. I forgot about those. lol. Yeah. They are quite good. I wonder if I could put my lowered spell level spells from the Gnome illusionist substitution levels into it so I get minor image 2/day on the cheap

There are Rings of Wizardry that double arcane spells per day for a single spell level. They range from I to IV (though you could probably get higher-leveled ones as Epic magic items).

Ask your DM whether they only double your base spells (giving you 4-6 extra spells per day), in which case they're merely good, or they include bonus spells from high casting stats and/or other Rings of Wizardry, which would proprl them straight into 'completely broken'.

It specifically doesn't double spells from high stats. So only base is doubled

You want lots of spells per day? Simple. Aeshkrau Illumian (bonus spells based on Strength) + Cancer Mage dip (ignore negative effects of diseases) + Festering Anger (+2 to Strength every day). After enough time, your bonus-spell-determining stat is so absurdly high that you have more bonus spells than base spells.

There is also Echoing Spell from Secrets of Xen'Drik that allows you to recast the spell as many times as you want if your caster level is high enough (-4 caster level every time you do, and wait one hour).

There are several ways to get a ridiculously high caster level.

Shadowcraft Mage with Earth Spell comes to mind as the easiest way.

Miser with Magic (Kingdoms of Kalamar) lets you recover cast spells by making spellcraft checks. Only lets you recover 1 spell level per day per point of casting-stat bonus, though.

Incredibly helpful, you guys.

Also, the Parlor Tricks feat could be useful, especially if your DM has a hard-on for managing inconsequential spells cast during role play. It also has the added benefit of allowing spell casters to mistake your illusions for more legitimate spells more easily.

Why do you say a pearl of power is overpriced? The one for 1st-level spells costs only 1,000 gp, 2nd-level spells costs 4,000 gp, and 3rd-level spells costs 9,000 gp. They're pretty handy if you want to cast a spell multiple times (such as mage armor on yourself and the monk, or more than one magic missile while retaining other spell slots for other spells). It's no ring of wizardry, granted, but I can get twenty 1st-level pearls of power for the price of one ring of wizardry I.

That was indeed my mistake I remembered PoP being compared to the ring somewhere, and that one of them was overpriced. Since I didn't know the name of the ring, I couldn't really look it up to be sure. Thanks though.

I was really hoping to find this thread as something about spellcasters using guns/xbows/slings/bows to channel spells. Sort of a ranged duskblade...

Anyway... have you considered Runestaves? AFB, but I can't recall anything forbidding one from "burning" Specialist slots to cast Runestave spells.

There's also this feat from LEoF, Arcane Manipulation, that allows (up to 3?) spell slots to be split; something like, a 3rd-level spell slot being able to be broken down to either 6 0th-level slots, or 3 1st-level slots, or 1 1st-level and 1 2nd-level slots, or 2 0th-level and 1 2nd-level slot, etc.)

EDIT: A Metamagic Rod also saves higher level spell slots for lower level ones, so it could count.

EDIT2: You may also want to google "site:giantitp.com Spellblade Tennis". That should work.
