Hello stick people!

I used to follow this awesome comic back when, but some things happened and I sort of dropped off the internet for a while sometime around 2008.

It struck me today that I should start reading this again and catch up on what I've missed. But apparently the comics aren't date-marked in any way? Does anyone happen to know what number strip I might start with to start reading where I left off in 2008?

I started reading in 2008, and the comic at that time was in the 'Don't Split the Party' arc, strip numbers 485 - 672. Maybe start at there? Or just start again from #1 :smallwink:

According to the discussion thread index (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?103669-The-Discussion-Thread-Index-II), #518 was released on January 3, 2008 and #618 was released on December 27, 2008.

I'd suggest going from #1 as well, simply because you're likely to have forgotten a lot of the plot details in 6 years!

If you want to skip that, I found an index of all the discussion threads posted for each strip:
http://oots.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_Discussion_Threads

The posting dates of those indicates that the first strip in 2008 was #518 (3rd January) and the last one was #618 (27th December).

[EDIT] Darn, ninja'd!

If I wanted to catch up where I was without reading all (though a OotS archive binge is certainly worthwhile :smallwink:), I would go in rather high increments until I hit something I'm not familiar with and backtrack.
So you could check 50 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0050.html),100 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0100.html),150 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0150.html),200 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0200.html),... and if you hit something you don't know you could either just start with the last known tested strip or test smaller increments.

(A binary search (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Binary_search_algorithm) would need fewer tests to find your last strip, but I think getting a few strips in order is better to make you familiar again with the story.)

Wow you guys are superheroes, lots of good advice right away! :)

I'll start at 400 and if I don't recall anything I'm going all the way back to the beginning :)

Starting at #1 would probably work well, since it's been a while since 2008. If you want to start closer, maybe you should start at the beginning of the closest book, which is DStP starting at #485.
