View Full Version : Name for a powerful class that combines Sorcerer and Paladin

I am making a class that uses powerful yet limited spontaneous arcane spellcasting and the holy knight abilities of a paladin but of course limited. This class will also emphasize the idea that sorcery comes from a mixed bloodline such as Dragon, Fiend, and Celestial. I just can't seem to come up with a name for it! Any ideas?

Knight of Sacred Flame?

Redeemed-Blood Mystic?

Eldritch Scion (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/base-classes/magus/archetypes/paizo---magus-archetypes/eldritch-scion) Magus (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/base-classes/magus)?

Arcane Acolyte?
It reflects the religiousness, sorcery and the fact that they are less skilled at such matters than a base paladin or sorcerer.

Are all of the mixed bloodlines sets of three, like your example of Dragon/Fiend/Celestial? If so, Triple-Blooded Knight could be a decent name.

I suppose it depends in part on what part of this class you'd like the name to emphasize.

Sanguine Amalgant? Knight of the Sanguine Amalgam?

Maybe just Amalgallant.

Is that a sorcadin that only eats what neanderthals eat?

Well, I do know if we called roses 'Poo Flowers', people would be less eager to stick their noses in them.

OK — I suppose I could try and keep on target.

Arcanadin — good, but sounds a bit like somewhere in North America

Palacerer — er, why do all my ideas have place names in them ?

Holy Arcanamach — sounds like something Robin might say.

Arcerer — OK, maybe not.

No, I'm not being cute, There really was a mage-paladin organization introduced in were called 'paramanders'. They had their own spell lists and unique spells and everything. Dragon 106. Technically they were TN in alignment but they were paladins nonetheless.

It's not a good name for them though. If you just told me there was a thing in this game called paramanders, I would think it's ice, smoke, ooze, and magma variations of the salamander from the Plane of Fire. And ice salamanders have been done, at least.

Actually, some studies have shown that changing the name of things does change our perception of them. Take that, Bard!

No, he was just misinformed. Unless he really was a Klingon, in which case, yes. the p'tahk lied to us.

Just to clarify: prestige or base?

If prestige this becomes much easier because then you can use something like Descendent of (insert outsider/draconic name here) or something similar.

If base this is going to be slightly more difficult, but nowhere near impossible. Since you're using the holy abilities of a paladin, you can state that this class' sorcerer capabilities come from a bloodline to a good outsider and call it a Celestial Knight. I would save a draconic version for elemental typings and fiends for a blackguard-esk class. This is just to make it easier on yourself, since (at least I'm assuming) you don't actually have to create these classes until the situation arises.

I liked Taveena's Argent Flame. My suggestions: Silver Crusader, Blood Sword, Halfknight.

In Champions of Valot they introduce the mystic fire knight which is an organization of palladins that worship mystra and are better at casting spells. So maybe something like Mystic Blood(ed) (noun). Champion, saint, hero, disciple etc.

Another neat thing you could do would be to tie it to Gold or Silver dragons - classic LG creatures with full-on Sorceror casting. Mind, that implies that it's only for Dragon-themed Sorcerors, so it might not work out.

Anima / Spellblood / Hexbrood / Mageborn (take your pick of inherent-magic description) and mix it with Champion / Templar / Knight / Crusader / Paladin

Pesonally, I prefer Spellblood Templar
