This seemed a bit more complicated a question than the RaW thread would typically handle. I'm trying to figure out how exactly the Ring of the Darkhidden (from MiC, p. 122) would actually work.
First off, how does that work with Shadowy illumination? Would the Ring make the character Invisible, or just grant concealment as usual?
So let's say you have a party of a human (no special vision), an elf (low-light vision), and a dwarf (darkvision 60) in the Underdark. A Drow, equipped with a Ring of the Darkhidden, is lurking some distance away. If the party is equipped with an Everburning Torch, that means Bright light to 20 ft, Shadowy to 40. Would this be correct for each distance?
Drow is 85 ft (or more) away:
- Invisible to all three characters
Drow is 45-80 ft away:
- Invisible to the Human and Dwarf
- Visible to (but granted concealment against) the Elf
Drow is 25-40 ft away
- Visible to (but granted concealment against) the Human and Dwarf
- Visible to the Elf as normal (no concealment)
Drow is 20 ft or less away
- Visible to all characters as normal (no concealment)
