In San Jose/San Francisco specifically. I'm looking for lotus seed paste. I know it's the wrong time of year, but I'd kinda like to make my family Mooncakes. And my favorite mooncakes are made with lotus seed paste, so I'd prefer to get it.

Unfortunately, while there are places that sell premade mooncakes, I haven't been able to find places that advertise carrying it as a raw ingredient in my area. And I want to bake my own cakes!

Fast-travel to Apocalyptic London and farm Lotus Triffid mobs until they drop enough paste.

Your best bet would be San Fran chinatown many of the grocery stores should carry it, at least they do in London or the internets.

I've done some preliminary searching on the internet to try and help and from what I can tell, Lydia's Flowers (http://www.yelp.ca/biz/lydias-flowers-san-francisco) should have some lotus flowers. Then you can, presumably, take the seeds and mash them into paste yourself? I don't actually know what Lotus seed paste is.

There's also Ming Lee Trading (http://www.yelp.ca/biz/ming-lee-trading-san-francisco) for the actual paste.

Any Chinese/Asian Market should have the paste you need. Check in at your local market or just order it online. This should help. (https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&rlz=1C1ASRM_enUS516US516&ion=1&espv=2&es_th=1&ie=UTF-8#q=Lotus+PAste&tbm=shop)

!!!!
I LOVE mooncakes and lotus seed paste! Can't help with getting it, though asking in Asian groceries seems like a good first step.

Yep. I ran out of time so went with my old plan of making Jam. I asked around asian markets, but couldn't find it.
