View Full Version : Optimization Unseen Seer Build (Not Really Optimal)

One of my friends is running a 3.5 game and I decided I would make a Rogue/Wizard combo. I was not fully in the "Sneak Attack with Rays" camp, though I kept it in the build as an option. He'll have Two Weapon Fighting Feats, and I like the idea of mixing Unarmed Strikes with Armed attacks.

I know this is not an optimal build, and that is fine. I'm pretty sure nobody else has any idea what they're doing as far as min/maxing. And I don't want to make it obscenely powerful for that reason, so I don't break the game. There's also some question whether we'll be using Pathfinder-type skills or pure 3.5 skills (Perception vs Hide/Move Silently, etc). I know it's a pain in the butt comparatively to use 3.5 skills.

Race: Human
Gets: Bonus Skill Point, Bonus Feat, Access to Able Learner, Human Paragon, etc
Needs: High Dex, Int, Mid Cha, Con

Level 1: Rogue 1
Gets: 8+ Skill Points, Sneak Attack, ¾ base attack
Level 2: Wizard 1 (Diviner, Barred Necro?)
Gets: Scribe Scroll or Fighter Feat, 1st Level Spells (Utility and Attack Spells), Mage Hand if needed, ½ base attack, better Will Save, Familiar (Alertness), Cat Stealth (+3 Move Silently/Stealth)
Level 3-5: Human Paragon 1-3 (Unearthed Arcana)
Gets: Bonus Feat, +2 spellcasting level (Up to 2nd level Wizard Spells), Good Will Save, ¾ base attack, Adaptive Learning (Keep a skill as a class skill forever), (Levels in Paragon Classes donot count for XP penalties), +2 Ability Boost (Dex)
Level 6: Spellthief 1 (CAdv)
Gets: Spellsteal (Take Master Spellthief feat CScoundrel 79), Sneak +1d6, Enough skills to take Unseen Seer though less than Rogue
Level 7+: Unseen Seer 1-10 (CMag 81)

Combat Strategy (Low Levels): Sneak Attack with a Low Level Ray like Ray of Frost, cast Light of Lunia or Cloud of Knives, charge into Melee (possibly move to within 5 feet then 5 foot and Full Attack on next round). He'll probably use a Rapier and off-hand will be an Unarmed Strike (either fist or kick if holding a wand), continue until endangered, cast Shield, Summon Monster or Invisibility and back away, then heal and repeat. This'll change a little bit as he gets more spells, wands or whatever.



Any thoughts?

You mean 3-5 Paragon, 6 Spellthief, 7+ Unseen Seer, right?
