Does anyone have a good tablet program for Character use? I'm not talking about a character sheet. I am looking for a 5e Character tool. Does the math for you. Keeps track of your abilities, hp, etc. I got a new tablet for Christmas and I'm intending to use it a my one stop roleplaying shop.

Links appreciated. Or if unavailable, what is it you guys are using?

Trapdoor Technologies was working with WoTC to make a gaming application that involved character generation and play aids, but WoTC scrapped it. Here's a blog post (http://www.macnn.com/articles/14/12/02/physical.media.gaming.company.and.rights.holder.sl ow.to.adopt.digital/) that covers it in detail.

Trapdoor setup a Kickstarter (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/trapdoortech/codename-morningstar) to keep the tool alive, respeccing it for Pathfinder with hopes to support 5e when/if an OGL is released for 5e, but they're asking for a lot of money and it doesn't look like they're going to be funded. I backed it, but it doesn't look like it's happening.

roll20.net might be worth checking.

Is it Apple or Android?

If it's Apple, I like using Initiative Board (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/initiativeboard/id498834300?mt=8). It can contain status info, HP, names, a bunch of different presets, it has a dice roller built in, and it's super simple to use. It's not a full character manager, but it goes a long way.

If it's Android, I like using Fifth Edition Character Sheet (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wgkammerer.testgui.basiccharactersh eet.app&hl=en). It's a beautiful little app, though I've only used it on my S5, no idea what it looks like on a tablet. It's very streamlined. This is pretty much exactly what you asked for.

I'll second this for android. I've yet to play my first 5e game but this app makes all my speculative builds super easy to put together.

If you have an iPad, Lions Den's Fight Club 5E character sheet/tool does it all, for a small $2.99 in the App Store. Yes, there is some front end work to do, but 3/5 players at my table use it and swear by it.

Edit: here is the App Store link.

The few responses here go a long way toward explaining why it's crashing and burning. If you want the total VTT experience, roll20 provides a pretty robust tool kit for free. If you just want tablet-based table aids, free and cheap apps are already in the market. Trapdoor has tried to sell their product as something better, but I really don't see how it competes with, you know, stuff that's already around and present instead of distant vaporware, especially for a game I don't play and maybe for the game I do play, except only the stuff that's in the theoretical OGL that may be coming, who knows.

It's too bad, because they seem like nice, earnest people. It's just that their product is dead on arrival, they'll never meet their absurd and vaguely insulting funding goal, and they would have to create a piece of software that justifies its price point by beating out the already high bar set by basically free things.
