Just watched guardians and had a discussion with my friends about what classes the charecters fall into and was looking for thoughts.

Groot- Either a warforged with ironwood body warshaper or a dryad druid with rocket as an animal companion

Starlord- Bard, possibly rogue but his tape deck plus his reliance on out talking his opponents makes me lean more towards a bard.

Gramora- Unarmed swordsage into assassin i believe

Drax- Very low wisdom but high int barbarian with improved unarmed strike and some two weapon fighting feats

Rocket- Not sure. Fighter would justify his ability to use so many weapons, Barbarian would seem to show his rages, rogue due to his skills. Factotum possibly?

Rocket build his own weapons, sometimes from scraps: Artificer.

Gramora didn't use poisons, spells, or death attacks, so no Assassin necessary.

Starlord lived on improvisation, so I'd go factotum.

Groot might've been Landbound Walker.

Starlord literally challenged the Big Bad to a dance-off. If that doesn't scream "bard", I don't know what does. And he clearly relies more on his Cha than on his Int.

Drax may also potentially be a Goliath, given how big and muscular he is.

Goliath Mineral Warrior, almost literally so if you follow his version in the Mainstream Marvel Universe.
Being originally a human soul in a body made of earth and stone in order for him to take out his revenge upon Thanos for killing him and his family to cover up the fact that he was scouting Earth.

For Pathfinder Translation I would suggest:

Rocket: I would probably rule that his race is a variant breed of Ratfolk (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/races/other-races/featured-races/arg-ratfolk), his class would probably be Gunslinger (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/base-classes/gunslinger) but he probably would also multiclass into Artificer (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/3rd-party-classes/adamant-entertainment/artificer). He most probably has the Technologist (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/general-feats/technologist) feat also..

Gamora: I would choose the Slayer (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/hybrid-classes/slayer) as her class as I think it fits her nicely...

Starlord: Definitely a Rogue (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/rogue). I would probably also say that he takes a custom feat similiar to Barroom Brawler (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/combat-feats/barroom-brawler-combat) which allows him to temporarily gain any rogue talent for 1 minute.

Groot: his race if translated correctly in my opinion would be the Ghoran (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/races/other-races/more-races/advanced-races-11-20-rp/ghoran-19-rp). As for class, I would say probably something like the pathfinder Brawler (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/hybrid-classes/brawler). I would probably also guess that it spends some if not all of its feats on gaining spell-like abilities that would allow it to enlarge or reshape itself.

Drax: Like Groot, I would rule that Drax is a Brawler (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/hybrid-classes/brawler) but, he would have a completely different build. Drax may also multi-class or dip into Barbarian, but I doubt it.

Honestly, I generally prefer to view movie characters in two parts: Gestalt (usually much more accurate to the varied abilities they have) and mid-high houserule single class

Gestalt
Rocket: Gunslinger//Artificer. Replace Gunslinger with Fighter for 3.5 (less accurate)
Starlord: Investigator//Bard. Replace Investigator with Factotum for 3.5 (more accurate)
Groot: Druid//Brawler. Replace Brawler with Warblade for 3.5 (similar accuracy)
Drax: Brawler//Barbarian. Replace Brawler with Kung-Fu Genius Unarmed Swordsage in 3.5 (similar accuracy)
Gamora: Slayer//Swashbuckler or Slayer//Brawler. Use Rogue//Swordsage or Rogue//Warblade in 3.5 (similar accuracy)

Houseruled
Rocket: Artificer trading a lot of stuff (most UMD functions, homunculus) for full BAB and firearms bonuses
Starlord: Factotum modified to run off of Cha instead of Int
Groot: Wildshape Ranger into Warshaper with significantly houseruled Wild Shape
Drax: Warblade. Not really much else here.
Gamora: Swordsage. Again not too much to fix here.
