Has anyone ever used Ultimate Magic's construct modification rules on their characters? I was considering playing a wyrwood who had weapons integrated into it, given armour special abilities, and cheaper ability score increases.

Talk to your GM!

By RAW, "A modification can only be performed while the construct is inanimate or nonfunctioning.".
Thus modifying yourself as a Wyrwood is not possible, and someone else doing it would require that you are unconscious or such.

But it's a cool idea, so a GM might allow it unless its used for serious shenanigans.
Such as stacking 5000gp +2 attribute modifications repeatedly to get +20 or so Strength. Or trying to give yourself class levels with the Hit Dice modification.

But grafting weapons to yourself should be fine, and adding armor properties to yourself is no more expensive than adding them to your armor (though a Wyrwood has no racial natural armor). Turning yourself into a Construct Limb would be hillarious too.
