The Consecrated Hammer

You escort the failed assassin to the temple of Pelor along with the group you had been adventuring with. Regardless of the group's intentions, your experience has shown you that they are good at heart, at least enough to somewhat trust them. You talk your way out of the Guard pestering yoou as you finally make it to the temple. There, the group you adventured with wants to give you complete control over the assassin, in exchange for a free resurrection. After some bartering, the temple priest eventually agrees to it. The adventurers leave, and the temple authorities immediately take the assassin to a holding cell for questioning. Despite their best attempts, the temple authorities cannot get a word out of the assassin. Even a Geas spell has no effect on him. Eventually the temple priest turns to you, and asks you for any information you have, and what you think the coarse of action should be.

"Seems to me that this assassin is a hired hand and no more. A professional that gets paid to kill without asking questions. I hate to think it was for nothing, but I don't think this man has anything for us." Mykal pauses for a moment while considering his options. "It's not my place to determine his fate, and he'll do us no good set free. And I don't trust the guards to take proper care of him... We should let him escape, and then follow him. Even if we did get something out of him here, we couldn't rely on it."

Mykal would relate to the temple priest the precious little he had discovered on his trip. He would speak of the mages that summoned bound fire elementals and their attempt at destroying all evidence of the town they were searching. He would also mention that it might be best for the Temple to avoid any direct, official connection with the group he was working with.

((Even though he relates all that he discovered, he doesn't share with the temple authorities his plan, because he knows they would disapprove. Knowing that the Temple of Pelor has been compromised, and that the Consecrated Hammer are rummored to be some sort of fanatical group, Mykal intends to set himself up as a target for recruitment. He won't seek the group directly so as to avoid suspicion, but try and get them to seek him out as a potential ally. That is, assuming that what I remember about the Consecrated Hammer is fairly accurate... I, and Mykal, don't know much.))

The priest responds to you, "The assassin was capable of strong magic, do you think you would be capable of tracking him safely?"

"Were he a petty criminal I would have no problem. -He sighs- With this one I would need the help someone with a little more experience. I'm not so much worried about my own safety as I am him slipping away unnoticed."
