I have some recollection of a feat that allows wizards to spontaneously cast spells they have Spell Mastery for. Does anyone know where it was from? Did it make it to 3.5? Is it hugely degenerate?

It's not a feat, it's the Magelord prestige class from Lost Empires of Faerun. It's poorly written--you can't complete it in 20 levels without dirty tricks.

There's an epic feat that'll let you cast a single spell you know spontaneously. Pretty bad for an epic feat, and I can see a non-epic version pretty easily.

Alacritous Cogitation (CMage) - leave a spell slot open, cast a spell out of it spontaneously.

The feat signature spell allows you to spontaneously cast one spell you have spell mastery off. Thus it takes 2 feats to spontaneously cast one spell.

The magelord prestige class expands on these two feats.

...except that Alacritous Cogitation does better in one feat.

Unless you mean "casting a single spell spontaneously a bunch of times per day". If so: never mind.

Yes, this is what Signature Spell does.

Magelord should be errataed to require third or fourth level spells instead of fifth. Either that, or sneak attack instead of evasion. They do have very peculiar requirements.

Signature spell is the one I was thinking of. Thanks a lot!
